Would you like to have a class change token available, now that we're getting yet another new class?

Yes, add the class change token.
If Necro is a class, I got the 8th char slot free B)

Again... It's not about that. I have no problem with alts, I have 11 of them. It's about something else. Sigh.

I wouldn't use such tokens (I have 5 mag / 5 stam chars and I'm quite happy with them; raising another two will be funny), but on the other side I have nothing against them.

This is two seperate questions for me. I support adding a class change token to the game so players have that option, but I wouldn't use it myself. The only character I might want to change to a necromancer is low level and I rarely play, so I could easily restart him instead.

I say offer the class change tokens but I would not use them. I hope they increase the number of character slots you can buy.

I'm fairly attached to all 15 of the characters on my main account. They each have a purpose that is unique to them.

I suppose if they don't increase character slots, I can try Necromancy on an alt account or maybe the EU server.

The question doesn't match the available answers, but I voted no, because I would not use one. I'm ambivalent about them being added for others.

Why? So people can complain a week later that the Necromancer class is under performing to their liking, therefore wasting their money?

Only if its not more expensive than race change. 30 dollars for a pixel item is already asking a lot.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

But they'd lose the revenue from selling character slots...

Only because I don't like the idea of deleting one of my current characters. I have all of them but one at full horse training, all bags upgraded, and all crafting (save Jewelry) at lvl 50.

The sheer THOUGHT of another 180 days of horse training makes me want to eat a bullet.

That and an Alliance change token. I can delete characters 14 and 15 and remake if need be. I don't even mind the retraining of horses. But I feel like I have more than enough in the way of characters, in fact I may have one too many. And so for symmetry sake I'd like to reorganize them.

I'd be willing to accept complete alliance rank reset, (no new skill points on ranking back up), and class line xp reset, ( even if I need a respec shine to get points back).

Unlikely, as many pple that buy slots do so because they want to have multiple characters on different classes with different roles. A class change token doesn't alter that. Everyone I know that has multiple alts wants to have, for example, a warden tank and a dragonknight tank while also having a magblade dps and then a stamden for PvP. That way they can switch depending on what content they want to do.

On the contrary, everyone I know that mostly just plays a main has hundreds to thousands of hours of content completed on them and isn't going to be buying new slots anyways.

I'll wait for the class to be gimped a few times before I build one... To be sure I'm no putting effort into disappointment. Still haven't seen anything to inspire me to go warden yet.

You have a level 50 CP160 character. At that point you have enough experience with the game to know "how" to play and experiment with your new class abilities and such. I cringe thinking of newer players using class change tokens before even figuring out the broader game aspects.

Absolutely! I want to try every class, but i'm not willing to spend the time it takes to level up and collect everything again. The undaunted grind is brutal on alts. I leveled up 3 character with this last xp event, but chances are i'm never going to actually play them because of all the crap you have to do in this game to get alts ready.

I have to say that as a real alt-o-holic even if you level all 15 characters you usually have at least one you care least about that could get deleted and replaced.

This is an MMO, classes will be added sometimes.

I don't really see an issue with this, although in the case of the Necromancer, I would want to try the new class out on an alt to see if I even like it in the first place. Although the class of your main character is fundamental, I don't really see why they couldn't study another form of arcane knowledge or physical training if you wanted to tie in an RP backstory reason. FF14 allows you to play any class on a single character (with some leveling of new class skills), and their player base loves the feature.

So many achievements in ESO that are either time-consuming (Master Angler) and/or based on dumb luck (those monster collectible drops) are tied to a single character. Same with the titles. it sucks when maybe your main was weak during a certain patch and you got your Trial, DLC dungeon or PVP achievements on an alt that was preferred in the meta.

That makes zero sense if we already got them the first time around on that character. I'd prefer an extra char slot over having to use a token.

Yes, i would love to have a class change token. As was previously stated, sometimes a character is started that at first you love. You collect the skill points, the achievements, learn the crafting ...and then there are changes that make that character no longer fun to play with the play style you enjoy.
No you don't collect those skill points, because you're not that class.

If a single character is so important to you, why would you want to change something so fundamental as its class?

Class change tokens would simply result in competitive areas like PvP zones and trials being filled with the FOTM templates that would change with every update, all the more so as ZOS would see the business sense in making just enough changes in skill balancing etc each update to prompt another wave of class change token purchases.

Rather than dumb the game down even further with mass harmonisation of characters and with no decision ever taken in the game being unable to be reversed so no decision ever requires thought or responsibility, I'd far rather have very expensive crown store tokens enabling players who have completed everything in the game on at least one character to be able to create an instant maxed character. That way it would meet the demands of the few without impacting on everyone else.
    This.

You don't get to claim that "one special character" and in the same breath, rip their entire history out from under them.

Make a new alt(s), level them once, have everything you need. It's too much of a fundamental change for previous achievements to automatically apply.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

Yeah I started playing a mag nightblade when they were fun and had flavor + good sustain. Now they are just edgy red colored mag sorcs.

So yeah I want a class change token at this point.

THIS. Why doesn't anyone understand this. Is everyone just too focused on pulling numbers in the game and trying to be #1 that they've forgotten about things like this? Isn't this WHY all of us loved our first RPGs? Our first MMO? Our first fantasy game? Having that one character almost write its own book?

    This is so sad... :(

Ikr!! I don't get how people can feel so elitist and rude about creating more alts. This is a game, playing the same thing over again just to replace 3 class skill lines isn't being a hardworker or anything. We play the game to be lazy. It's a game! If we want to be hardworkers we work at our job, then we convert that time at our job to buy things we want, like replacing the 3 class skill lines. And for those who work long hours, starting over on a new character is unappealing and if they're dissatisfied with their class they might just quit instead.

My issue would be with achievements and titles that were done on a toon such as trials and arenas. If those had to be re-unlocked I would be fine with it but to have a flawless conquer title when you haven't done vma with that class is not something I agree with.

Other than lose skill based titles i would be ok with it. (Would still prefer an alliance change token over a class change one, but meh that's just me)
