Why are people freaked out about having necromancer class?

There will always be a balance issue and it will never be fixed, I’ve learned to accept that lol

Side note: this would be the first character I’d enjoy just to play and get into. I am pure pve dps through and through always trying to max out potential and capable of hitting within 5-10% of the highest hitters. I’m obsessed with dps, which is why I’m actually excited to play necromancer, just sounds like fun and could care less if it sucks for dps.

Remember: there will never be a balanced class system, so let’s at least have fun with it, woo!!

    Not freaking out here.

    I am somewhat surprised they would do a class rather than a skill line like they did with Psijic. I don't think there is really much differentiation in the Necromancer to solidly handle 3 independent skills lines.

    I'm also not sure we need another magicka class.

    1) No there will never be class balance but it can be better than this
    2) all we need next is zos to nerf a class into oblivion like they did to templar with warden.

    Given that Templar and Dragonknight got butchered to form the Warden class...

    And "balancing" classes is like watching ZOS try to hit a target they keep deliberately moving ever update...

    And we recently lost Minor Toughness so everyone has an excuse to bring along a Token Warden Teammate...

    And ZOS seems intent on diminishing most class-unique abilities in favor of making sure every class can be a "Jack of all trades/master of none" in terms of end game roles...

    No, I can't imagine why anyone who is really attached to following the meta or to the way their class performs is eyeing the Necromancer class with trepidation.

    At least the roleplayers are delighted.

    Idk I figure that there are some die hard fans of necromancers like myself out there, that it kind of would sell itself without needing to be OP. The reason why warden became OP was because no one wanted to play it, was a boring play style with a highlighted ulti that had to be present on both bars lol zos gave it steroids.

    As for it getting in the way of others fun in Public areas, idk but it will be interesting to see.

    As I recall, Warden was very strong on PTS. People pointed that out, and it got nerfed by release. It struggled in PVE because its geared more towards burst damage instead of steady, sustained damage.

    Stam Warden was strong from the beginning in PVP, with lots of CC and burst damage, and has since been toned down.


    One of the problems Warden faced (and Necromancer will face) is that ZOS balances PVE like its "King of the Hill" and PVP like its "Rock, Paper Scissors". If Warden or Necromancer is "winning" the metagame or BIS, people will cry "Pay to Win". That's partly what happened to Warden on the PTS. Die hard (lol) necromancer fans may not care about that, but the end-game crowd certainly will. As for myself, I'm not really looking forward to seeing the whole cycle repeat itself. I would have preferred a Necromancy skill line available to all classes.

    I can't face going through all the hype threads to check - but do we know if it's a whole new class, or just a skill line like the Summerset Psijic stuff?

    I have no real preference either way, but given the way ZOS is doing things these days (minimum effort / maximum crown store) doesn't a skill line seem more likely?

    Just how I see it. Learning and using the dark arts to do good things, is nothing bad. I do it with my character, because I love to understand all magic. But there is nothing good to see in Necromancy. Defiling the corpse of someone's loved one and forcing it to do your bidding... that's wrong. No matter if you use it for good or evil. It's disgusting and disgraceful and on top of that, it defies Xarxes or Arkay if you will. And defying the divines.... I'd rather perish.

    This along with a class change token, I don't know why people do not want them. New content is nice and ESO doesnt have that many classes anyway, and a class change token wouldn't destroy the game.

    Maybe in other MMOs, a new class is a big deal. But in ESO, you can play any class in any role, and they don't diverge a lot in how they play as a DD, tank or healer because they share a lot of non-class skills and gear sets. Necromancers are not going to fill any role or niche that isn't already occupied by the other classes - they will fit somewhere into the hierarchy of who makes the best DD, healer or tank, same as Wardens did.

    Besides not adding a whole lot of diversity to the game, new classes also require you to create a new character, which many people don't want because they only play one main, are fond of the characters they have, would lose many achievements and rewards, or they don't have any more character slots to spare.

    A better way to introduce diversity and a new way to play to ESO would be with new weapon and spell skill lines, that can also work better for some classes than others. E.g., new fire spells would be better for DKs than Sorcerers, new crit-focused weapon skills are best for NBs and Templars, so on and so forth.

    Because it's been requested since forever and ZOS is delivering as always. I'm glad about it even though I'm not a huge Necro fan. I love it that ZOS commits to what the community asks

    Because we already know from the nerfmire Sorc thread that big changes are planned for Sorc. I wonder which class will get gutted to make room for the new class this time?

    It would be interesting if Necro were a class designed to complete group content solo or with a lesser number of players (e.g. enter a four player dungeon with two players, and the necro can raise a tank and DPS to fill out the group). But, the above speculation about zombies clogging up crafting and banking areas is likely more accurate. I just hope they don't hover in mid-air and flap their arms...

    Because they still haven't made magden a viable endgame class and they've already moved onto a new project.

    The balance team is in way over their heads with this game.

    Freaking out is an exaggeration.

    Many are just voicing how they see it's the minimal effort way of giving a long-asked-for mechanic to the game. A new class is a poor choice for so many solid reasons, all listed above.

    The most versatile way to have brought necromancy to ESO would have been bringing it with a new spellcrafting system as one of a handful of new spell school skill lines. Then everyone could have gotten what they wanted without the need to make new characters.

    Looks like the masses are more concerned with having a visible "Necromancer" name pinned to their toons then having it added in a way that would have truly brought some amazing versatility to all builds.

    I’m interested in a new class or skill line (well better than the psijic line anyways)

    If it’s a necromancer class how would the instant cast work if the whole point of necromancer is raising the dead so zombies throwing up over every one but what would the instant cast skills be?

    At least maybe the swamp raider set might work with them assuming zombies are decease
