Class Reps buying out certain items before news on the next patch?

I will not name the players or the items involved.
I admire the class reps and what they do. It's just weird seeing previously useless items getting completely bought out by some of the people in contact with the devs way before any announcements. It's not just them though, but the other people doing it could be close friends and guildies.
How much do they know about the next patch before we do? There's been some weird activity across multiple guild traders where certain items are being bought out completely. This happens all the time to influence prices but considering the items being bought and the names buying them, it caught my attention.
Example: There have been some rumors about underused sets getting buffed/reworked. If these sets are tradable or can be acquired by different means/currency people can make millions by knowing the changes ahead of the general pop.

I'm not saying your insider info theory is wrong. People are competitive. What I am saying is if you keep tabs on these sorts of things, screenshot what you are noticing and see if it correlates to post-update data.

Was it 2015 or 2016? Dont remember. Popular "Yolo Wizard" required 5 IA, 2 Kena and 5 Elegance (back than dropping in trials). Elegance Swords sold for a million gold, completely ignoring, that the sword passive didnt carry over to overload, and 5 pc ia did nothing for overload aswell. Forums found out that u could use elegant axe or dagger or whatever instead.
That u'd get the exact same stats and (usefull) boni for 3 ia, 5 elegance, 2 kena and 2 torugs remained a mystery...
Than theres the story with sun not being a match for julianos, sorrow outshining everything (except for ma on vAS for a short period of time) since it became a thing w/ ot. Surprise: frontbared hundings lost a parse vs ma!

- Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
- Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

✭✭✭✭✭Since this topic is about class reps & something suspicious I am pretty sure it will be soon locked with no reason or will simply be "blocked" (will vanish from forums), just like almost every other topic about class reps program that contains critics and sheds some informations about "weird" stuff that has been happening recently around class reps.
It is not a mystery to me that certain class reps take full advantage of their position and for example only pretend they listen to feedback (and ignore the feedback that does not suite them) just to make their builds, playstyle even more powerful (at least this is how it looks like to me, I might be wrong and this may simply be ZOS listening to feedback & despite that doing their own "thing").
Humans are just humans and even if they might not realise this class reps imho will NEVER be able to represent all players simply because they might be biased towards something and not even realize this.
^^ This is my opinion so far about the class reps program, based on what has happened so far, what feedback was given and what was actually changed / executed. Future will tell - as the wise man said:

Actually, the same trend has been seen when something hits the test server.
Even on console, the trend has been noted.
Example: worms. Info about how to acquire the new recipes and the pyandonean motif hit the server, and worms first disappeared then were listed higher.Xbox NA5 -
As almost all the gear can be farmed, I'm not sure what the problem is that the OP refers to.
So class reps and many friends 'might' be buying out certain sets that 'might' get a buff in the next chapter in the hopes of selling back to the market at a profit? So what. Just pushes the price up and makes sure that the world and it's mother will farm those sets until they are blue in the face.
Could they potentially make millions from it? Maybe. Who cares? Once you have a few million you quickly realise there isn't that much you NEED to buy that costs a lot. Skins? You don't need them. Housing- you don't need it, or anything connected to it. End game gears- are mostly bound on pickup so you might need some gold to make it legendary. Gold jewellery? Make do with purple for a while..
If a set gets a buff and suddenly becomes bis, so what? Go farm. You don't need it straight away.
I'm more interested in the new class and seeing what that is like and how brokenly OP it is until the nerf bat comes along after someone comes up with a decent build.2 -

Comparison tasting. Assuming the reps have access to the "new" sets, they could be testing the old ones on the Live server and the new ones on their PTS.
So really, the real money is to be made now, when you farm and sell those sets as everyone grabs them in preparation. The, you can point and laugh when ZOS pulls a Horns of the Reach and nerfs the big set right at release.2 -
