An idea to make IC great again. Thoughts??

Have a completely seperate pve version, make it only accessible by queuing from activity finder.. difficulty of mobs tweaked for a 5 man group with 3 different instances you can queue for...AD entrance/ EP entrance/ DC entrance. Couple whats considered the seperate faction zones in IC into a large open area. With 2 roaming world bosses.

THIS HAS NO EFFECT ON THE PVP SIDE.

Actually have white gold tower in the middle. Hell you could even make them 12 man trials but have to be queued for with a full trials group..... Ebonhearts Assault/ The Pacts Assault/ The Dominions Assault.

Use the Telvar system to buy IC restricted siege weapons...these are destroyable by certain mobs.

So you can either take your chances in pvp to farm enough Telvar before you queue for the pve assault to save time Or your pve group (trial or 5 man)can farm it in the instanced version of IC to buy from an npc.Telvar stones would be given at a reduced rate in the instanced pve side (for obvious reasons)

This gives more reason to get people into pvp IC other then hakeijos, flower satchels and the chests.

The aim of the instanced pve IC is to siege white gold tower with the IC restricted siege. once you've broken down the walls/gates and fought off the hordes defending and surrounding (All surrounding mobs have a respawn rate apart from World bosses) but only attack once provoked. You descend into the sewers and fight through more to meet molag bal in the centre depending which alliances zone you assault from determines the gear sets available and the different world bosses/flag carrier you Encounter On the way.

Flag carriers and world boss's can drop armour pieces and molag to drop jewellery and weapons,

Imperial city events could benefit the pvp side as it already does(maybe slip in the pve sets to be lootable from world bosses, flag carriers and chests) but in the pve version you have a small chance for exclusive mounts/pets/dyes/new motifs/ for completion. Keeps everyone happy and the beauty of IC is once again basked warfare.

I love PVE in this game. I like PVP in this game. Putting PVE quests in a PVP zone was just dumb Making Caltrops a necessary PVE skill and putting it in PVP was just dumb. Don't really care about the cross-over gear, would probably hunt it down anyway. But as we see on these boards every day, PVE and PVP are played completely differently. Forcing a mixture makes everyone unhappy.

But I don't know if you could ever undo this. Cyrodiil and IC are mistakes that can not be undone. Just have to live with them

You're talking a total reconstruction of the Imperial City DLC to make your idea work, but I like your idea very much.

However, to make IC great again... a direct port and queue that eliminates the pass through Cyrodiil altogether would go a long way to restoring interest in IC. It's the most time-consuming and annoying content to access in the game.

Not to mention that Cyrodiil players are presently penalized for every player entering IC, as those IC players count as Cyrodiil players for population tallies.

A direct port/queue seems to be a simple fix

An even simpler idea would be to make Telvar actually worth something beyond buying crappy gear that nobody wants...and quit taking half of it away when some invisible NightBlade ganks you with Lethal Arrow. :/

This isn't mixing pvp and pve, it gives pve a genuine way of enjoying IC the zone looks amazing, Telvar farming can be done in a premade group without travelling cyrodil with the added bonus of new shiny sets
    ,
But as IC was originally designed in a way to mix pve and pvp, this kinda keeps that essence, pvp earns you stones quicker for faster pve completion but come with risk, the pve side can be done without having to meet another player..... just takes longer as you would have to farm a few mobs before the sieges began...

Say you and your friends/ trial group wanted a quicker run of all 3 instances, you could arrange a few hours in IC pvp 1ce a week to farm stones.....or dare I say it.....make them a tradeable currency and watch all hell break loose,

I think it would be cool to just remove the IC DLC requirement. Refund everyone who had the DLC their crowns. Then as part of the update fix the bridges leading to IC and just make IC part of the whole Cyrodiil zone. You could keep the sewers as a fast travel around the city still.

Then if you own all the flags in IC and own all your home keeps you get some type of special pvp perk. Have to put some more thought around it but seems like it would be cool to be able to access it anytime and as part of the bigger pvp zone.

    Samples:
    - Owning all IC flags removes aggro from IC NPCs (with the exception of bosses) .
    - Allows a fast travel points to any of the bridges leading to IC. Giving you a strategical advantage for easy tavel to other factions. (bridges can be destroyed?)
    - Own IC gives moral boost to all keep guards increasing their health and damage

Just a few ideas. Now that we have battlegrounds I feel like IC doesn't need to be the small scale pvp area anymore. Its basically dead unless there is an event.

But also before they could do this they would really need to work on the current performance issues and lag in the game.

@Seenoevil I love your suggestion. I think its brilliant, in fact. I simply don't see ZOS revamping IC or Cyrodiil. PVPers have been bemoaning lag there for at least 6 months. A zone that was created for PVP. For years longer, people have hated the PVE/PVP mixture of the zone and the ridiculous way you have to get there. Nothing has changed.

I think its a shame that suggestions like yours are ignored. It has the potential to be a really, really fun PVP and PVE zone, if only the players were separated. Instead, its a mess.

We can only hope Zos are in the background looking at these suggestions people post up and seeing which are viable, I've seen loads of great suggestions to revamp and tweak things

I think it's such a shame IC is just left to rot, pvp in there granted is great fun but the population just isn't there, maybe get an hour of decent pvp in there a week, so much thought and design went into the place, now the daedra just roam the streets aimlessly wondering "where the f*** is everyone"

I love that IC is a mix of PvE and PvP. It makes the environment more dynamic and interesting.

I also love your ideas here (copied below).
Anything to make actually getting to the IC easier/faster to get to would be a great improvement.

I always enjoyed ganking in IC, but wished the population was consistent.

If only there was a way to bring more players to the IC w/out pulling ppl away from cyro

Problem is that its more hard core than BG or cyrodil pug zerg.
Yes you can get more guilds to join but that would make it more like Cyrodil zergs.

For me I enjoy the randomness of Cyrodil but as I suck in PvP more small group pvp don't work for me.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

For me, remove Tel Var loss and I'll be more than happy to go back to IC. Simple as that.

First Telvar would have to be removed from any PvE instance since the risk it greatly reduced. That alone would mean the idea will likely flounder.

Second, siege PvE just seems boring. It removes the need for player skill. Just buy a siege, plop it down and you are as good as the best players.

Third, it would require a complete redesign since IC was not designed with this in mind and retrofits are generally not very good (look at ice staff). Zos might as well use those efforts for designing something from the ground up.

I like the idea of removing the PvP restriction from IC for those who don't PvP, but I'm not overly keen on replacing that restriction with another restriction in the form of forced grouping. For any change to be commercially viable it has to appeal to the maximum number of players, and simply having a directly accessed and unrestricted PvE instance of IC would be the best way of achieving that. That would be in addition, of course, to retaining the present PvP version although there are doubtless improvements that could be made to that if it were to become more of a PvP zone than a mixed PvP/PvE one.

You people complaining about having to obtain caltrops... you can get it in a few hours just running with a random zergs.

The problem with IC is the only people who care about it are PVE people. PVP guys know this & purposely go there to mess with them.

I suspect the developers were attempting to recreate Darkness Falls from DAOC. The main difference was that once you gained control you didn’t have to worry about the other faction. Usually a massive purge would take place once your faction got control of DF.

Perhaps if they did that ? Become Emperor & your faction gets access to the Imperial City. No other faction can enter until they gain Emperor. If you’re in there when it flips you stay until killed.

To make imperial city great again we build a wall around it to keep the daedra out- or in? oh wait.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.
