About adding the event tickets to the crown store

I mean thinking about it, having them in the crown store at least gives the option to those who have limited gaming times so that’s great for them. But all I see is that Zos wants to be considerate to its community, through the crown store :/

Yeah.I thought the same thing. We can do events and get them for free.
Those that have limited play time or don't want to do the events can pay for them.

I don't see any issue here. You now have choices.

It's clear that people who put in the grind to get the feathers may be angry about this. Had the feathers been in the CS as well from day 1, it would be a non-issue. We would've had the choice to farm the feathers or flat out buy them. There is also the problem of confusion about whether we'd be able to have more than one evolved mount, I assumed not, therefore only collected enough feathers for one mount, I easily could have got more but thought it was a waste of time.

Allowing players to catch-up or for new players to have a chance at the mount is OK, but why not, as others have suggested, do this with an in-game mechanic. Why does everyone have to have it anyway? I missed out on the beta monkey because my internet was too slow to play, but I don't now insist that it be made available to me for cash because I was late to the party. It's not a question of exclusivity, it's a question of joining in something in order to reap the rewards and for those rewards to be meaningful. If everything is just going to be slapped in the CS store at some point, the point of playing the ACTUAL game is severely diminished.

I want players to be able to get the mounts and cosmetics they want, I don't want anyone to miss out, but this monetization of everything is awful. This is NOT a f2p game, the base game cost me near on £100, I've subscribed since launch, bought all the chapters etc. ZoS are not some poor neglected orphans who need our charity and this constant wallet-gouging is becoming disgusting.

I've said this before, but I love this game and I don't want to see it drive players away with overly-aggressive monetization, because that's how games die.

I'll be away for a business trip plus some travelling for 3 weeks this summer. If that happens to be the quarter when my Indrik is available, I'll probably have to buy some event tickets.

That's generally covered by the fact that you don't need all the tickets from all the events to get the feathers. So just as those who don't want to do a PvP or dungeon event, for example, can still get the necessary tickets from the other events, so someone who misses the odd event by being away can also do so. Now, if someone is away so much that they can't participate in most of the events then there's a legitimate question as to why they would expect to be able to receive the rewards for those events, however unfortunate that may be given the circumstances.

People shouldn't be punished for having a life beyond this game. Someone can be in the military or go on an aid mission that removes them from a computer/game console for months at a time. These people shouldn't be excluded from being able to get cool mounts.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with making an event more accessible.

They're not excluded, there are plenty of cool mounts in the game. However, the ones that are given as rewards for certain events and achievements can't simply be dished out to those who aren't playing the game for whatever reason, no matter how valid. Otherwise we all might just as well log out and get everything for nothing through some distorted sense of entitlement.

Your straw man argument is flawed. I'm in a military family, and we just roll on like everyone else. No special privileges expected. Also, by your logic, should everything be accessible then all the time? What about Crown crates in off-seasons? Or limited time only items? People with busy lives miss those as well.

You are simply missing the point. It is about ZOS's trend of creating a grind, then instituting a monetized shortcut.

Other catch-up events could easily have been put into play. We've seen multi-ticket events already just for that purpose. This is simply about making a buck off an event.

I mean...I was excluded from getting the 100k log-in reward in September because I had to evacuate for 2 weeks due to Hurricane Florence.

There's a difference between other catch-up mechanics (more tickets offered than needed, upping the ticket cap so people can earn a little more if they happen to be away, leaving all berries purchasable in every quarter, etc) and just straight-up crown store purchase.

I agree completely! When I checked out the article I was really excited to see that they were doubling down on the event system they created. Then someone pointed out that event tickets were being added to the crown store. That small sentence made what should have been an awesome announcement and celebration of what we've created as the community and developer and shot it right in the foot for me. I also happen to be their target consumer. I have more crowns than anyone has the right to have and not enough time. I just barely managed to get the indrik and I have no idea if i'll be able to get the berries. But the accomplishment of spending the time and participating in the event was and will be all the more worth it. That is what ESO needs, it's why I was so excited about something as simple as the event system.

ZOS Limited/Rare ingame items are a main way to keep players engaged and coming back. Psychologically those items are links to memories of challenge and accomplishment; meeting new people and playing with friends. And guess what that means players are reminded of how much fun they have playing your game. Those items are what brings players back for the new events, and help out new players. I don't normally speak up here about anything, but this decision has quite honestly baffled me. Please do not add the tickets to the crown store.

There was nothing challenging about these events. No memories were created. They were essentially just login rewards. Login. Do mind-numbibgly easy daily in 2 minutes. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the event.

Also, when a new event starts every few weeks, it's not that special anymore.
Remember when we would take off work and be logged in at start of event and run the heck out of it? They were special. Not so much now...

With their target audience shifting so drastically to extreme casual cash shop warriors, it seems only likely this is the next step. I've near given up after being shouted down in threads today by people telling me that there's nothing wrong with whales and everything being in the cash shop, or that the regular content is too hard already and there's no need for ZoS to fix persistent issues or add new challenges. These voices are the majority now evidently. I'll just shut up and keep roleplaying until something else comes along. I can ignore these people there.

In the ideal world we'd only have MMOs with mandatory subscriptions, but unfortunately too many people aren't willing to pay subscriptions any more for that to be a viable option other than for the small indie niche titles. In these circumstances I'll take whales over freeloaders every time, and so no doubt will developers. I remain a subscriber by choice and maintain two subscriptions on ESO, with little interest in the crown store or crown crates - but I fully understand why ZOS consider them important to the commercial success of the game and I've yet to see a serious suggestion from critics of cash shops and lootboxes in any MMO as to how the substantial revenue from those things should be replaced if they were done away with.

As someone who works full-time and also goes to college, I completely agree. I missed out on enough tickets to get the Indrik, and while that was disappointing it was still cool to know that they were tied to events, and it was cool seeing the players, new and old, with the Indrik knowing they participated so much time into getting it. They should never become a crown store item, this only makes people take events less seriously. And no, I will not purchase event tickets on the crown store. I was not able to get enough tickets so I don’t feel I deserve to have the same mount as people who dedicated so much time into getting it. Truly disappointing.

History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.

Having more free time =/= dedicating more time

A full-time worker can proportionally dedicate the same amount of time as someone who is unemployed. However, the unemployed player can dedicate more total time. The latter does not make you better at the game, or special in any way. It just means you have more time to play.

If we're going to reward tickets for in-game activities, it should be for completing gameplay challenges. For example, completing veteran trials to obtain berries. If that were the case, then I would be quite angry if the berries were being sold in the crown store because they undermine a legitimate skill-based achievement. But right now, event tickets are just a daily login reward. They are not tied to any legitimate gameplay achievement. You simply need free time.

    Emphasis mine.

Base on this, you want to put individual, non-tradeable rewards from a community event/festival behind endgame group activities, in addition* to what is already uniquely available through those activities.

Let's just ascertain as to whether I am reading your post correctly... is that truly your position?

Well at least now we finally know why we have just 12 event ticket limit, so that we could not save them and increase chance of buying them through crown store... Honestly though I have no idea who would spend crowns on event tickets trying to get all evolutions of indriks since they look so ugly... bet just pure completion maniacs only.

    You missed the point completely.

I am saying that event tickets in the crown store would be a travesty only if event tickets were an exclusive drop from challenging in-game activities and not just glorified daily login rewards.

People log in to punch their cards with vet dungeons as well. Aren't those the same thing?

Or, are you going to keep moving the goal posts to suit your narrow definitions.

At any rate, you continue to miss the point of this thread. I get a certain amount of satisfaction that the people agreeing with you is marginal, at best.

It is a rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly obvious. The cry 'I could have thought of that' is a very popular and misleading one, for the fact is that they didn't, and a very significant and revealing fact it is too. - Douglas Adams

I didn't. I was just giving you a chance to walk back from your elitist, exclusionary, endgame-centric statements that suggested that only competitive content is worthy of reward.

You doubled down. If that view wasn't such utter rubbish I would almost feel admiration for your resolve.

Your definition would exclude the majority of the player base. As such I have little fear that it will find much traction since it isn't often that turkeys* vote for Christmas.
