Oh HELL *** no. It always leads to corruption and exploitation of GM commands and powers and a conflict of interests and ideas. This is coming from personal experience.

No. ZOS needs to HIRE some game masters and PAY them to do their jobs. Why should anyone have to do this for free?

Well, there's a thought that will haunt my nightmares.

But, legitimately, no. Putting that kind of responsibility on the Ambassadors and Reps would be brutally unfair to them, and the inevitable lapses would taint both programs irrevocably.

You're asking some of the most passionate players in the game to give up the game they love, so they can work a job without pay.

I wouldn't even trust myself as a Gamemaster. There are a few I wouldn't mind seeing as a gamemaster though. Also, this forum is a PITA to use on a phone.

As a CM, I'd have no wish to be a GM, it's a lot of work, a lot of responsibility and really they should be paid ZOS employees, preferably working on-site somewhere.

I don't know why Class Reps are being considered for for this job in this post but I can tell you that I am pretty sure none of the Reps have time for this kind of stuff. It's a job that should be done in the office and with an actual payment, unlike volunteer work of Reps.

It's a very slippery slope of power granted.

Also on a personal level depends if it's paid. I am not going to do the work of paid employees if in my free time.

Forum moderation I would consider for free but I would only moderate when I saw it during my personal browsing.

Absolutely effing not!! There is a huge jump from being a representative of the community and being empowered in game. Taking action against, or behalf of, player accounts needs done by people who have been appropriately vetted and trained by Zeni, are on the payroll, and can be held accountable for adverse outcomes.

Frankly, I'm alarmed that 7 people (so far) have such short-sightedness and apparent ignorance of business to have voted "yes" to this.

Game Masters should not be players themselves. The power and responsibility they have requires them to be objective and not emotionally involved with the game or anybody playing it, otherwise this will impact their capabilities to fully perform their role. Game masters are paid professionals, not players.

Absolutely not. There are 2 class reps in particular that already have an acidic presence insofar as community interactions go. Giving them more power? Bleh.

I remember in EQ when some more notable guild members were made GMs. Some of the power tripping was epic. Let's try and learn from the past, m'kay.

It is a rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly obvious. The cry 'I could have thought of that' is a very popular and misleading one, for the fact is that they didn't, and a very significant and revealing fact it is too. - Douglas Adams

Seems like a bad idea to me, for reasons already stated. It's tempting to come up with ideas for things that most will acknowledge as problems, but most problems in this game aren't fixed because the development team doesn't care to fix them not because they don't know how to fix them and just need that one good idea from the community.
ZOS recently acknowledged their poor performance when it came to responding to issues raised by the playerbase, and they've done nothing to improve their responses. This is who we're dealing with. So even a good idea to fix an issue isn't going to get any traction...in fact it would be shocking if it even got a response.

    Make me a damn GM.

I find botters, ban them with video proof to my supervisor = if i am found to abused at all, take all my stuff, give it to the "victim."

I'll sign documents to that effect.

Assuming "not" is actually "bot", we do call out bots when we see them.

I think the best situation for the GMs would be to make the existing ZOS GMs more visible. Get them out of each zone's secret GM Island or wherever it is they hide, and stick them in the playable area. If ZOS's in-game enforcement is more visible, it would allay the fears of the players as well as act as a deterrent.
