So.... Since the announcement of being able to earn a mount in game most people were excited. I thought these events were for bringing the community together to celebrate these different events with new players and old. I thought that's what these events were for? Bringing the community together to complete different tasks and work towards getting a fancy mount. New players have a way to meet new friends and join guilds, while older players have something else to work towards. I took the time to earn my mount and I feel really let down by reading that the tickets will be added to the crown store. What's the point in having these events if you're just gonna toss the tickets onto the crown store? I thought the mount was special, because it was locked behind actually participating in the events. After reading what will happen I'm just let down and feel really disappointed in you ZoS. Between this and instantly adding *Limited* items back to the crown store 2 weeks later it shows where the priorities are. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it's just how I feel after putting the time and effort into participating in these events. These should be earned and not sold on the crown store. Thank you all for taking the time to read! Have a great new year and hopefully things will change for the better.

If I read well, what you liked about the event was that the whole community could participate in it and everyone was happy.

Much of the community e.g. Those who bought the game in December do not have the opportunity to obtain the tickets.

ZOS gives the opportunity to get them (with money) and that bothers you?

Are not you supposed to be happy that the community is united and happy with their new mount?

The selfishness of the Hardcore, Elitist, or whatever they are called never ceases to surprise me.

"I earned my ________, and you paid for you it you filthy casual!"

It's like this echo chases me around from game to game.

I don't mind that ZOS put the Event Tickets in the Crown Store as a Pay-To-Catch-Up sop to new players.

I do mind the effect that's likely to have. For one, look at the Berries being unique to their quarters. Anyone who can't/won't do one or more of the events potentially has no choice but to buy Event Tickets to get the berries they want.

For example, the Dawnwood Berries require players to be willing to PVP and to own the TG/DB, and Morrowind DLC. So unless a player can get all the tickets they need from the Jester's event or ZOS does another ESO+ trial like they did for Clockwork City, some players will need to buy event tickets if they don't want to miss out on the Dawnwood Indriik.

In addition to getting the Berries each quarter, there's still needing to acquire 40 feathers for the nascent indriiks to use it on. Depending on how many tickets we can acquire per event, again, that either means waiting awhile or paying to catch up with crown store event tickets.

Its possible that I'm overthinking this, and that ZOS isnt going to aggressively monetize this as the year goes on...but I'm not hopeful.

It's this exactly. Every event you need to obtain 20 tickets - one for the berry and one for a new feather. If you can't do that, you have no choice but to pay for them. Then, if you are not around for the last event in the quarter, you are totally screwed and will never be able to get that mount meaning any berries you bought during the first 3 events become useless.

From the way it has been laid out it is pants on head stupid. Only been playing since last July but I hope they change something.

You could choose not to get an evolved Indrik. Yes, if you want all 5 mounts, it will take 360 event tickets, and that's going to take either a lot of effort or a lot of cash. I don't mind that at all.

It was confirmed on the forums soon after the announcement of the Indriks that you'd be able to have multiples, and I imagine that people in the know have not only acquired their Nascent Indrik but have also purchased additional feathers to replace after evolving.

We don't yet know exactly how long the events will last, or how many tickets we'll be able to get per, but I got 75 tickets during the Q4 events, and I imagine that there will be at least 80 up for offer during Q1. So if we assume the 80 is in fact the magic number that one can get with full participation, that means that at the end of the 5 quarters, it will be possible but tight to get the necessary 360.

    My thoughts:

It's a "participation" mount. Earn tickets by participating not by cracking open the wallet.

    Seems like a money grab.

The merchant will continue to carry the feathers.
She will also continue to stock all four Indrik Feathers required to summon a new Nascent Indrik throughout 2019.

So, those that make the effort to get tickets in the game will not have anything special. No one can tell if you play the game or have a fat wallet.

nvm, I see that Zos is selling the idea out by putting tickets in the crown store.

What a great way to lose credibility if anything similar is added to what we can work for in the beginning. Loss of credibility with customers is a serious issue.

It looks like you still have to play the game to get the berries, right? (At least for now. They certainly could add those to the store later in the same fashion). That way getting a specific color indrik remains a game-play thing. It's not like they haven't got other mounts and pets in the game that people wait years to see available again, just look at the post about the Showcase where one player is thrilled to finally see the white bear again.

I'm glad the same tickets can be used for berries as for feathers. I capped at 12 tickets during New Life -- since I knew I couldn't manage four more feathers worth of tickets out of the fall/winter events, I paced myself and only bought the four. So now I can get the Mayhem berry without setting foot in PvP. Not that I want the green indrik as my first one, but to have it as an option later looks like I'd best nab the berries and hold on to them.

I do hope the crown feathers are rationally priced. I know better than to expect that, however. I'll proceed as if none of my crowns are going to feathers. And have to debate between gold, black, and white indriks as all of those are beautiful to me.

Edit: The above makes no sense and I apologize and thank Dojohoda for pointing out my goof, as I write further on in the thread.

I've got a feeling that ZOS has a plan here. Anyone that has been participating in all the events so far likely has a mount and is just waiting on berries. They will either buy them day one with accumulated tickets or have it by the end of the next event. Poof, now you have your first indrik done and you're ready to go on your second one... but wait...

You need 40 event tickets stashed away (for 4 more feathers) before you can even think about grabbing that next berry for the new evolution. This is where ZOS plans on getting players. Unless they really start increasing the rate that tickets are awarded, it will be impossible to keep up with making new mounts for each new berry that comes out. A clever trick, but easily spotted. I'll be interested in seeing how much these event tickets sell for. Assuming a "special" mount price of 4000 crowns, that puts each ticket at 100 crowns each. At this point, ZOS has two forms of ticket acquisition and can adjust the rate at which you earn them in game to push crown store sales. Shady indeed.

At current TCE exchange price on PC/NA, that would put the Indrik mount at 800k per berry season if you want to look at it that way.

Lol. The content announcement needs to be legit for 2019. There hasn't been a decent content update in years. All focus goes into the cash shop. Even small additions that have nothing to do with the cash shop end up as cash shop opportunities. ZoS is quickly becoming one of those eastern mmo publishers we've all blacklisted. I've been here since beta, had my fun. But damned if they haven't nosedived.

Yes. .. and oh. Yes. Brain fart -- in the very post in which I was thinking hey, you can buy tickets for feathers but have to play for berries I was ALSO being glad that tickets also buy berries.

    I'm a little torn..

On the one hand, putting the tickets in the crown store feels like it cheapens the work people have done to earn tickets. I, for one, played almost every single day of all the events, so I would be able to get some extra feathers for more Indrik evolutions. I maybe wouldn't have sat there for ages hoping for dungeon finder to work if I'd realized I could just buy the tickets later.

On the other hand, I can appreciate how this gives people who missed events because of holidays a chance to catch up. I'm a big softie, so I feel bad for the people who weren't able to get their tickets/feathers.

All in all, though, it cheapens the whole point of the events and the Indrik mount, which was to bring everyone together. These events had their rough points.. but they also had the community really coming together. And now what people have put in hard work and time to earn, anyone can buy with a big enough pocketbook.

I'm severely let down by this. And it kind of makes me think twice about getting involved in events in the future. After all, if I really want the reward, seems like I'll probably be able to buy it eventually. :(

I was extremely disappointed, and actually upset, when I found out today that Crown Store Exclusive items really are just early access items.

I feel lied to, tricked, and deceived.

Especially when you consider that the reason they silently ignored questions about extra Indrik feathers for months was because they knew all along that they would be selling tickets in the crown store. Now those players who believed customer service when they told them to destroy extra feathers will feel used, because now they will be behind on the grind and encouraged to buy them outright. Certainly seems shady, at best.

I understand the frustration, but from a F2P business model, it makes perfect sense. When an mmo is F2P, money has to come from micro transactions.

For decades now, making a grind really grueling is a fool proof way to get people to turn to microtranscactions.

Why? the convenience. Especially here in the US, we are a culture of instant gratification. Making grinding for these Indriks really tedious, and then throwing the tickets into the crown store is an excellent way to make $$$. Because now people can skip the grind that was made tedious on purpose and just buy their way to the prize, which means more money for the company.

Grinding has never been about achievement in any F2P mmo. In games like this, grinding exists to make people tired and wish there was an easier way, and poof, now event tickets are purchasable. by making people tired and bored, they make money.

it's brilliant and ***. but that's how F2P is always going to be.

it means that you don't need to subscribe in order to play the game. yes you may need to buy expansions, but once you "own" the expacs, then you no longer need to pay for anything to play the game. but by making it that way, they lose revenue they would gain from subscriptions, hence the crown store and MT's.

by F2P in ESO's case i mean a subscription not being necessary.

Adding them to the crown store takes away any sense of achievement for having actually gone through the process to earn them. ZOS needs to rethink and not include the Tickets, Feathers or anything at all related to the Indrik mount in the Crown Store.

Sure, but you might not be able to get the evolved indrik that you want. There are four types that require four berries each. If you don't get all the berries for the type you want during the related event, you won't have a chance to get them again later.

i understand your POV, and I understand ZOS's and their reasoning.

to play devil's advocate though. video game achievements, are they really? i mean, they have no real world value. And they can be taken away as well.

It's just a mount. having it doesn't mean that someone is a better gamer, or person. it just means you have the time, or you care more about having the mount. but calling it an "achievement" or even special I think is going to far as it doesn't provide any benefit except for someone to be able to say "hey, I have this not real clump of pixels and you don't"

    and does that matter?

I wanted the indriks at first. But I think they made it too complicated (again on purpose so that when they added them as crown store items, people would be very willing to buy tickets) and then with the MAC fiasco going on, I haven't been able to actually participate in the events thus far.

At the end of the day, this a game. it doesn't affect real life in any way, the indrik doesn't actually exist and therefor has no meaning except that people sat in front of a computer and played a game.

I think we put waaaaay too much false value on things like this.

And honestly, it doesn't matter how someone gets this mount. whether they played for it or bought it. someone buying it shouldn't take away the pride you feel over having "earned" it. Only you can let how someone else gets it, affect you. If you want it to bother you that other people will buy tickets, then it will bother you. But you don't have to let it. and it doesn't harm you in any way if someone buys tickets. So just let it go and enjoy your mount.

there's some free cognitive behavioral therapy for you.

and if you can't enjoy the mount because other people acquire it in a way you didn't, that's a personal issue that you'll have to sort out with yourself.
