About adding the event tickets to the crown store

So.... Since the announcement of being able to earn a mount in game most people were excited. I thought these events were for bringing the community together to celebrate these different events with new players and old. I thought that's what these events were for? Bringing the community together to complete different tasks and work towards getting a fancy mount. New players have a way to meet new friends and join guilds, while older players have something else to work towards. I took the time to earn my mount and I feel really let down by reading that the tickets will be added to the crown store. What's the point in having these events if you're just gonna toss the tickets onto the crown store? I thought the mount was special, because it was locked behind actually participating in the events. After reading what will happen I'm just let down and feel really disappointed in you ZoS. Between this and instantly adding *Limited* items back to the crown store 2 weeks later it shows where the priorities are. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it's just how I feel after putting the time and effort into participating in these events. These should be earned and not sold on the crown store. Thank you all for taking the time to read! Have a great new year and hopefully things will change for the better.

Perfectly stated and expresses the completed disappointment I feel in event tickets being sold in the crown store and in exclusive items not being "exclusive".

I mean thinking about it, having them in the crown store at least gives the option to those who have limited gaming times so that’s great for them. But all I see is that Zos wants to be considerate to its community, through the crown store :/

    Disappointed, but not surprised.

Honestly after the attempt to make crown crate exclusive motif chapters I lost any faith in those behind monetisation turning from the path of "all the money"

It's their current trend for the last year and a half: put in a grind, so you can earn it with in-game means..or open your wallet.

The other side of this is it allows people that fell behind to quickly catch up.

Personally, I feel they should have included another multi-ticket daily. For instance, the Undaunted event awarded you 3 tickets per daily completion. Why not do another that is similar, rather than monetizing it.

I'm disappointed that this is (yet again) one more way to get you into the Cash Shop.

I get that some may have limited game time but they set it up in such a way that you could still earn enough tickets without having to play a lot. And you know what? You miss it, you miss it. Otherwise it completely discounts the efforts those of use who participated in the event put into it and spent interacting with the game community.

Since players throw money to ZOS here and there, players = money.
Why should anyone in a company bother about something else if they get what they need anyway? ESO community spent too much $$ to make a decision to stop. And trust me, they will buy these tickets just to be the first one who will get a 'new' mount. And will do it again and again. Recolored mounts, crown crates, event tickets, ESO+.

People talk too much here, but do literally nothing.
Because admitting the fact you can't stop and have not enough will to do it is equal to betraying yourself.

This mount isn’t even a participation trophy now...they’re monetizing participation.....I really don’t know why I’m surprised, I genuinely am, this feels like something that should not have a price tag! ZOS really took the time to sit down and decide as a team that their players time and effort could and should be bypassed with real money because it’s just cosmetic.

Assuming the worst, each event will award you 1 ticket per day. The Mid Year Mayhem is running from the 10th to the 21st. Roughly 10 days.

"Collect 10 Event Tickets and use them to buy Indrik Berries"

Berry 1 takes the entire event.

If that is the way it will work for the other 3 events, you would not be getting enough Tickets for more than 1 evolved Indrik. If it takes 40 tickets to make the initial Indrik, you would need a ton of feathers, which would take the place of buying berries. At least this way, if you want to collect them all, you can buy the feathers, and use the events for berries. Otherwise, take your 1 Indrik and be happy with that.

Also, For those who missed the events or didn't get enough tickets to finish their initial Indrik, they have an option to not be left out.

I don't see this as being greedy, or being deceptive or anything.

I'm happy that people will have the option in case they missed the event or have more money than time to spend grinding event tickets, but I suppose it really depends on how much the event tickets cost. It would be really weird if a single Indrik ended up being like $300 or something. I couldn't possibly care less about exclusivity, and in fact I find the idea quite distasteful. Sure, I'll be earning the stuff in-game because I overall enjoy these events, but I'm not going to say boo if someone else wants to buy it with cash.

@kathandira I feel that is extremely unlikely since up until now there are been way more tickets available than needed for the feathers. Not only did the events last longer than 10 days, but multiple events gave more than a single ticket per day.

Honestly whatever. It is just completely pointless for Zos to have something earned in game since obviously real money can buy it anyways.

As for people missing. As per the past events we have seem thus far, it seems pretty plausible that people will be able to buy berries and save up for the feathers too. So they are not missing out - just earning it later. Maybe because you know.. they started later?

I don't mind that they're selling tickets so players have the option of buying them instead of doing events if they want to, options are almost always good IMO. Although it depends on the price. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 2,500 crowns for an evolved indrik, which is 80 tickets, so if it costs more than 30 crowns per ticket (31.25 technically but I rounded down because 31 crowns would be a weird price) I'd be unlikely to buy them.

I am disappointed that they're restricting the availability of the berries so that if you miss any events you'll have to buy tickets to get an evolved indrik. That changes it from being an option to the only way to get them for some people. I might still be willing to buy tickets if I need to (again depending on price) but it's a lot less interesting than being able to gradually work towards them by participating in events.

Perfectly stated and expresses the completed disappointment I feel in event tickets being sold in the crown store and in exclusive items not being "exclusive".

Exclusive is stupid anyway imo. To get something based on skill is awesome. To limit something to a certain time period is the stupidest thing.

It's punishing a new player for not discovering the game earlier. It's punishing anyone without time at the given moment. People have lives to attend to.

Speaking of the crown store addition. Were people actually that naive to believe they wouldn't do this? Hmph... I'm happy they did. Gives people like me the option to focus on family, girlfriend and my business instead of the game and still catch up.

It means you can earn them and also buy them. So there is basically no limit anymore. People who play the game, can only earn a limited amount of tickets. People who buy it, can basically open an Indrik manufactory because they can have as many feathers as they want.

My opinion is that this removes the entire purpose of "Event" tickets. They are no longer event tickets now, as they no longer are an indicator for having participated in an event. Still, I don't think this is a super greedy step and I might actually buy some to catch up, as I have missed the clockwork city event.

You can buy motifs in the crown store you can also earn in game, So what's the difference? In the end it's the player's decision where to get it and what to spend (time or money).

Based on what was tested last year on the PTS, this is only true for the first event of Q1 (4th TBD). Both the Morrowind and TG/DB event had players able to get 2 tickets a day. For Morrowind, it was one WB daily and one delve daily. For TG/DB, one heist and one sacrament. Jesters festival ticket mechanics have not yet been seen on PTS afaik.

Exactly. This is the real issue. I agree with OP that it felt awesome to see ZOS implement a system that allowed players to embrace the community and earn cool new mounts and it was completely unrelated to spending money in the Crown store. But I also believe that excluding people who can't/won't participate in certain events does the opposite of fostering the sense of community that OP describes, so allowing some option to "catch up" with event tickets seems like a reasonable thing to do. You can already do this by purchasing old feathers with new event tickets in-game, but you'll still be slogging behind others who are already riding around on their new fancy mounts.

Where ZOS has a real issue is in limiting the berries so that each evolution is only available for a certain amount of time with no option to achieve that specific mount if you miss some of the events during that evolution's quarter. So if you really want the black indrik but due to real life you can't earn enough tickets for all the berries during those specific events, you have no option but to purchase event tickets in the crown store. They've backed players into a corner and eliminated the feeling that can earn the mount you want in-game no matter what.

If I read well, what you liked about the event was that the whole community could participate in it and everyone was happy.

Much of the community e.g. Those who bought the game in December do not have the opportunity to obtain the tickets.

ZOS gives the opportunity to get them (with money) and that bothers you?

Are not you supposed to be happy that the community is united and happy with their new mount?

The selfishness of the Hardcore, Elitist, or whatever they are called never ceases to surprise me.
