What's a good third set for a Frost Warden?

Next to Winterborn and Iceheart, that is.

I'm currently using Torug's Pact, and it seems fine. I know Julianos would probably work, but it's a bit boring, you know? Saw a YouTube video suggesting Shalk's, but I'm not convinced it has enough of an impact. Ysgrammor's fits the them, but only buffs ice, so it seems a bit limiting. I love Bahrahra's Curse, but it doesn't complement either of the other sets at all...

So, any suggestions? I'm really enjoying my (Nord!) ice warden, and Winterborn / Iceheart work well, but I'd like a third set that complements them well. And has a bit of a flare.

Side note: Why can't we have a proper (and easy to farm) Magicka equivalent of Briarheart? Sigh.

Really? I think that's the first time I've ever been meta. I'm not sure what to do now :)

It depends. I'd say the best set is Torugs Pact. Ysgramor would only be worth it if you used 100% ice damage abilities and even then I'd say Torugs would still be better.

What content do you want this for though? It's a decent CC+Damage combo for PvP but I wouldn't recommend doing endgame PvE content with it.

Yeah, Torugs is the way to go. I use it on my Ice Warden, and it's effective. I get plenty of hate whispers. Lol

I dunno. I get plenty of kills with mine. Maybe not as much as a spin to win stamden, but still. Not only can it kill really well, it supports my small group. It's all in how you play it.

Edit: it's killing potential drops off in large groups or zergs. Which is fine by me as I prefer small open world groups.

Not much into PVP, I mostly made it for RP reasons. Happily soloing undaunted pledges on normal atm, and might like to give it a go on vet at some point.

What I was after was not necessarily something that's BiS (though I'm happy if Torug's is that!), but something with a bit of pizzaz, that makes you think, 'Oh that's cool'.

Kind of like if Briarheart was magicka, and then triggering Iceheart could also trigger Briarheart, and increase damage, and heal. Something with synergy.

As someone who doesn't really do much PVP, it's nice to know that it's a decent set-up for those moments when I do venture into Cyrodiil :)

yeah you can kill squishies pretty easily. but most of the time you are getting maybe 5 kills to 25 assists. i've seen this across the board.

I'm not sure Torugs is BiS for PvE but if you're doing solo, it'll be fine. You could try Winterborn and Mothers Sorrow or even Necropotence (which is activated by your netch).

If running dungeons, make sure not to put points in Tri-Focus passive in the destruction staff skill line.

Edit: in BGs against premades, I don't necessarily disagree with you.

Sigh.

    torugs is meta.

worst reply.....meta...lol. like that means anything..or should.

I'm sorry...? Torugs/Winterborn/Iceheart is what most people use for this.

That’s about exactly where I’m at. I do tons of damage, practically getting a piece of every kill, but only get a few kills.

Necro is my other set of choice.

Using necropotence and slotting northern storm allows me to run bloodthirsty rings on my MagDen build. Having extra damage to execute opponents is really nice since you can do tons of damage with Wardens.

IMO Torug's is unnecessary if you're already building for damage instead of making a troll frost tank. Back in CWC I was having success with Necro+Lich+Skoria+Master's Ice Staff (or Perfected Asylum Ice Staff) in BGs and duels and I'd imagine this build is just as effective now.

If you don't have those weapons, you could just go Necro+Bright Throat+Skoria so you can have 55k+ max magicka giving you big shields, big heals and high base damage. I've used this setup with all 3 kinds of destro and they're all effective. Magden is in a pretty good place right now.

( PVE) Well one of the very few sets that does actually synergise with iceheart/winterborn is Spinners. Because whilst the damage from those sets is unaffected by magicka/spell power and they cant crit their damage is affected by damage modifiers and penetration.
By maximisiing modifiers and with 9 to10k penetration you can get Winterborn to proc for 10k (10053) and Iceheart for 1275 whilst still having 40k magica (food) and 2400 sp (mundus). So i use and recommend Spinners.
