Games are about having fun.
Yep, that's it. That's why we play them. It isn't work. It isn't an opportunity for posturing, arguing, or showing everyone that yes, you have the biggest "weapon". It's about having fun and enjoying game content together. The social aspect of online games is what makes them unique. We have learned a few other things along the way too. Playing these online games is even more fun with people who share some of the same ideas you do. Guilds then should be made up of people that like a lot of the same things and march to the beat of the same or at least a similar drummer. That's what we are shooting for here.
Mature Demographics:
We are fun loving, smart, dedicated people here; many of whom are well over the age of 25 though that isn't a criteria. (Well maybe smart is...) We like to group with each other and enjoy ribbing each other as much as anything else. Some of us are into PVP, some not. Many enjoy raiding together but it isn't our religion. We can be off color- a lot but never hateful or mean-spirited. Drama just doesn't add to the experience.
The vast majority of our members have families and responsibilities. We have many active and former military men/women and it is one of the reasons we went with The Band of Brothers. We understand that when you’re playing games, you’re doing so to relax and have fun. That forms the basis of our very simple guild rules: We expect you to treat others how you’d like to be treated yourself.
Logistics:
We are primarily located in the North American continent. However, due to our military folks and our sense of gaming community, we have members of the guild reaching south to Brazil, "across the pond" in Europe, and as far across the globe as Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
We are VERY communicative; we have our own forums, we use Mumble as our voice communications, we actively use our Guild chat (when logged into the game), we email each other, some of us even share our cellphone numbers to text/chat, and we have a YouTube presence that illustrates our sense of humor and gaming style.
Experienced Gamers:
As you can probably guess, from our demographics, we're mostly gamers that have played online games before they were even referred to as "online". Most of the leadership (founders, leaders and officers) have lead our own guilds. Some of us have sought refuge, here, from hardcore (overbearingly so) PvP and raiding guilds. Some of us have real life military backgrounds and bring that knowledge and experience to the game and leverage it to our advantage. We welcome and invite all service men and women to give us a try and experience this friends and family culture.
Simple Expectations:
If you think you might be a fit, we're going to want to group with you a bit and see how things work out. It will be a chance for you to check us out and determine if our play style fits yours. Again, we don't have a set criteria - It's all about having the right fit.
Very Few Policies:
We have chosen this guild as our community. We don't have a one-guild policy per se, but aren't looking to be a sometime-alternative either. Community means being invested a bit for the greater good of the group. You can't really do that if your attention is elsewhere.
We have zero tolerance for cheaters, griefers, ***, and ***. If you believe that any of the previous titles may fit you - good luck, Godspeed, don't bother applying, and please forget our URL.
Thanks for reading this and checking us out. Hopefully, we fit together and you call The Band "Home"!
