Why Dye, horse training isn't shared through account ?

Dye is cosmetic and horse training has been a pain in the $## from the start of ESO.

is ZOS planning on doing something about this ?

They will not, because horse training, skyshard (skill point) farming areone of the things that in their twisted minds are keeping players play for longer and increasing the chance of you buying (believe it or not) horse training books from the crown store...

Honestly haven't heard of anyone buying those... but ye... it is getting seriously boring trying to do same thing every day every time with different characters, I would love to just jump to end game with my alts but as much as the hours needed to do it are not decreasing I just stay on main toon whenever I get to play ESO which recently started to look like this: Login with each toon and make daily writs done, slot mats/intricates/recipes from doing it on guild stores, the end.

Because originally horse training WAS account wide, then they got rid of that for this model when people complained that it was both not lore-friendly for a new character to have a super-fast horse the second they load in, and that it was kind of an exploit for lowbies getting across Cyrodiil fast. Or something.

First, be glad horse training is shared across a characters mounts. We used to have to train each mount separately and only had 50 trainings tops. You could only max one slot. You could not have max of all three traits on one mount.

Zos will never make it so mount training because they sell the fast training approach in the crown store.

@Aetherderius on live I do not recall any aspect of mount training being shared account wide. In April 2014 I recall having to log into multiple characters to level up speed on their mounts individually.

Dyes unlocked from achievements are shared.

And yes remember having pve horses with storage and pvp horses with speed after launch.
You could buy the 38.000 gold horses with an 10 starting bonus going up to 60 but default was 50.

Always annoying if you forgot to change horse in the stable and was stuck on an slow one unless you went back to the border keep.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Dyes already are account wide. The achievement won't be unlocked on every character but they'll be able to use the dye.

Horse training never has been though and actually use to be even worse because you were only training up the one horse. If you wanted to swap to a different colour (no other mounts back then, just 6 horses) you had to start over. Oh and you couldn't train all stats to 60 on the same horse, and had to go to a stable to swap.

I suspect they made it time gated originally as a way of encouraging you to keep your sub even if you weren't actively playing (back when you had to sub to log in at all). If you knew you'd not be playing much next month it might be tempting to cancel your sub, but then you're behind on horse training and crafting research and anything else time gated...

I guess they thought they were being generous enough by making the highest rating in each skill apply to all the characters mounts. And of course it opens up the possibility of selling crown store training books.

Sounds kind of like the people who also want to keep it that way. Something about everyone who doesn’t want to do the same thing on all their characters is lazy.

    WRONG!

Horse training was -never- account wide since launch, back in the early days it was even training per individualy bought horse... so if you bought a new horse on your main, you had to train it up all over again, and if you bought the same horse on an alt, you had to train that one from scratch. And there were only 50 trainings per horse, with the expensive horses getting an +10 bonus in one stat... so you could have a packhorse for dungeon-farming, or a nicely fast horse for cyrodil, but not both...

They changed that with the crown store, so people would not get discouraged spending their money on whatever nifty new mount they might release...

    Exactly!
No matter how much some of the "gimme crowd" wish they -could- argue themselves into having maxed horses on every alt without having to spend either six months daily training or a pile of cash on the crown store riding lessons...

...because they -are- only cosmetic and have no other game impact!

Although I expect them to sell dye unlocks for those casual players who might not manage to reach some of the harder achievement in the crown store eventually...

I won’t lie. I would qualify as lazy under those conditions. I don’t expect or require more account wide stuff, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like it. I do enjoy the daily log in rewards which feel like amazing free stuff when I consider a time before they existed.

Anyway, I always thought people who want stuff like horse training and some skill points account wide, are actually more focused on doing other game stuff. Not lazy, if they end up doing more crafting dailies or really any dailies. They still have to do work with thier characters.

Current system works though. I got no real complaints.

It was not account wide also you would end with an horse with maximum 60 in an skill or 60 spread out say 50 speed and 10 stamina. Having a bit on stamina on the horse help a lot, I always put 10-15 in together with speed then done with inventory as it make you less likely be be dismounted by overland mobs.

Current system is better, yes it was added with the crown store so people would buy new mounts rater than not simply as they had to train them again. And yes in part is to get people to buy upgrades but also to get people to level up.

And the horse upgrades are probably the most pay to win in ESO, having an good horse help a lot in cyrodil.

Everyone says that those scrolls go away like hot cakes. Do you guys have any source to back that up? Just because it is on the store doesn't make them a big seller. I mean, Werewolf and Vampire skilllines are one the store too and I think they're collecting dust there.

Wow, the current system does sound way better.

As for horse speed in pvp, I always wondered why that wasn’t part of the battle spirit. Probably not that important, though. A couple months go by really quick.
