Seem to be having some rubbish RNG in vMA
My first 10 clears
1 x ice staff
2 x battle axes
6 x axe and shield
1 x bow
So so helpful when you’re needing stuff for a mag char ie a lightning or inferno
Anyone else had a run this rubbish?

✭Welcome to the party. I can't even count how many similar posts like this I've seen, and yes I've also experienced this. It took me 25+ runs to get an Inferno Staff and another 10+ to get the Bow. After that, I probably got five of each in the next 10 runs. RNG sucks.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I was most the way through my first run, decided I wasn't having fun and left. Threads like this make me think I made the right decision. Last night I was working on getting gear for a couple of characters and thought maybe I should give vMA another go for weapons. Thank you for reminding me why I probably don't want to do that.

✭✭RGN does indeed suck. Never quite understood the idea of including features in your product that frustrate and annoy the hell out of your customers. Maybe they think if they *** you off enough you'll go buy some crowns or renew your sub.

✭If you really want to run it again and again wait until you have a really good character that you are actually having fun with. Or wait until there is the double reward event, I assume it is coming back.

You have barely begun, unfortunately.
I suggest balancing the potential of spending 40-50 hours running vMA for one specific item versus spending that time enjoying the game. vMA weapons are great, but they aren't needed to play the game well.

I'm not sure about this, but I believe it's actually the opposite for the weekly rewards. Every time I was on the weekly leader board for my MagSorc, I would always get a Staff for the reward. Most of the time it was an Ice Staff, but still a Staff.0 -

Whenever i need something specific from a dungeon or vMA, i always make a point to run with the character that is setup as far from what i'm looking for as possible.
Need a inferno/lightning staff? Run with your dual wield stamina character.
Need a bow? Run with your 1H/Shield tank.
This has always worked well for me. And that comes from someone that is generally hated by the RNG gods ...

This is what I’m aftaid of. I’ve heard similar stories.I’m capping out on my dps though, so an inferno or lightning would help. Luckily I can do it in 2 hours or so but it’s still a pain

✭I felt the same way, here's what I did: I dedicated a character to VMA and got good enough with him to always make the leaderboard. Then I just ran it with him once a week... Two for one that way so I wasn't investing all my game time fighting RNG. And the rewards you get are gold so at least you're getting mats when you get your 50th maul or ice staff or whatever.
Well, that strategy wasn't working. So I leveled a 2nd character just for Maelstrom and started doing it twice a week, once on each character. More fun that way anyway: variety is the spice if life. First time I made the leaderboard with my 2nd character I got what I'd been wanting for 6-8th months in my rewards. But they were the rewards from my first character...

MythicaLMeddLer✭✭✭As a stam only player I rolled in there to get the bow..My first run ever I got a..lightning staff..second run ever I got the bow..then as a weekly reward I got..two one handed swords..third run ever..bow...then weekly reward...bow..ha..I can't stop getting the bow..got 4 bows and I've only run Vma four times..Edited by MythicaLMeddLer on December 29, 2018 12:46AM1

✭✭Around 30 clears in, and i haven't seen the inferno staff yet. Resto staff, sword and board close to 10 times, and bow at least 7 times including the last 5 runs.
The destro staffs seem to have by far the lowest drop rate. I've seen 2 lightning, 1 ice, 0 inferno.
That's also counting the weekly reward.

2nd clear= 2-hander
3rd clear=Bow.

AndyMac✭✭✭✭✭Yep -I’ve seen the same - many clears and leaderboard mails got me many stam weapons on my mDK before I got an inferno.
And that staff was the double drop during the Orsinium event.
