[VIDEO] 60 Crates Not Enough - How Many for Radiant?

I take that I got to be a whale in order to unlock one of them radian apex but also still have to play with 5th bonus card's RNG and the RNG between those 3 because there's no guarantee that I'll get which radiant rewards I wanted.

Video if you're curious on drops.

Edit:
Another quest. Do you guys open all the boxes immediately on one go? Or do you save some for later?

I've opened 60-70 crates of each type except, Scalecaller(85-90), Hollowjack(45) because they were trash, and 0 Storm Atro because they haven't been available in ages. Got only one radiant mount so far, the horse from the Scalecaller crates. If you do the math it's more or less 450 crates, excluding Wild Hunt since those don't have radiant mounts. The drop rate for the radiant apex mounts is something like 0.19%, do not buy crates with the intent of getting a radiant mount because it more than likely isn't going to happen.

Not even counting the Ouroboros crates neither. I've opened easily more than 60 and i don't even have the pet.

If ESO is your main hobby then $150 every 3-4 months is not a lot of money. Especially if you buy the crowns during sales like right now. Still throwing your money away, but find me a hobby that doesn't cost you $150 every 3-4 months. I'll be waiting.

Yeah, I figured that what have I got to lose? I wanted some of the radiant/legendary rewards but also need to farm gems and getting the sabre cat frost atro so either way I still get what I want.

To be clear, you opened 60-70 Scalecaller and got that awesome thunder horse?

its obvious they are forcing you to buy tons of crates to get enough gems for buying your mount directly from the store.

I've spent a bunch on crown crates, but I never expect anything out of them. The only thing guaranteed is gems for dupes and a lot of nonsense items. Your chances are not higher with every one that you open. It's like going to Vegas, you don't go there and gamble expecting to come out rich. You do it for the lols. ZOS doesn't even give an official % chance you will get anything, there are estimates only based on the add-on that tracks drops. Some people get a radiant apex from free crates, and some people like me open so many and don't ever get any. I will say, I don't like that I used to get full motif books from the crates and they've been doing the motif pages. I also notice they've been doing RNG housing items in the crates, which is why I won't even bother with buying them. Why gamble for in game furniture?

Where is the "less chance than it already is" option?
I want it to be complete RNG. I think it should be one of those "Holy crap, did I just get that?"-kind of moments. It should be such a tiny chance that people don't even bother going for it. It should be a surprise.
Considering your topic I can only assume you were trying to get the Radiant Apex Mount, and therefore I think the chance should be even lower, to discourage you, and others, to even try and get it.

I would have tried offering the gems to the Orc standing behind Pacrooti to smack him a few times in the back of the head with his sword.
It looks like he wants to do it anyway, and to me it would be worth it *shrugs*

But seriously, as to crates and RNG I dont have any issue with these things. The trick is, just keep in mind the old saying 'Expect nothing, and you will never be disappointed'.

I think we have a conspiracy here.

Poll 1-30 votes came from new player/new accounts, either they're trolling or ZOS is rigging their RNG to encourage playing the game more.

    https://www.crowncrates.com/

Evidence shows it's around 0.15% for a Radiant.

Which means you'd need around 1534 crates for a 90% chance of a Radiant. 462 crates for a 50% chance.

I bought about 100 (from ppl) and got two standard fugly mounts. No radiants. It’s literally pissing money in to the wind if you actually buy them. This should be apparent by now.

The only acceptable answer is more than 1.

Probability, even when you know the odds doesn't work like that. Sure given enough data you could extrapolate a 99% confidence number, but we dont have that data.

Even with the players sending data to that sheet/website it doesnt come close to real actual representation of sales nor does it factor whatever weights the system places on rolls.

The only advice you can give is: if you are chasing a specific item, make sure you can use gems. You have a tint fraction of a chance to pull a secret mount, so only gamble what you are willing to lose.

You exactly the same odds on pull 1 that you do on pu 1,000.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

The game is easily the best MMO available...just play to enjoy whatever aspect you like....should seriously stop spending rl money on crowns...and if you must, utilize gems to get what you want.

OP, based on the drop rates, you had around a 90% chance of NOT getting a radiant with a 60 crate purchase. If 60 crates guaranteed a radiant, we'd see much more of the playerbase riding around on them. Zenimax would lose a lot of money by doing that. The low chance ensures large crate purchases in an attempt (not a guarantee) to snag something that very few players can afford or are willing to spend that much on.

People who were okay with buying 60 crates for a cosmetic are likely okay buying 100 or 200 crates after they start thinking "maybe it is in the next one". Those who want it really bad will buy 500 or more. Keep in mind it is completely random and even though large amounts of crates make it likely you will get a radiant or even two radiants, they can be duplicate radiant mounts that were your least preferred of the 3.

I believe this season, combined with the sale, will sell by far the most crates because all three radiant mounts are comparably nice while also being incredibly rare.

Interesting. Can anyone put up a video or screenshot of that radiant apex wolf? Because that site is basically listing it as the rarest mount in the game of any season.

Unless he's one of those monetized-streamer types, in which case it's like paying for him to open more crates. So I won't give him clicks.

It's not even worth trying to get one of the radiant apex, because your chances of getting one per crate never increases no matter how many crates you open. It's a less-than-1% chance every single time you open a crate, and continues to be a less-than-1% chance every single time. It's best to just forget they exist.

The number of crates does not matter. I got two Radient Apex mounts out of the free crates we got for crate season changes and one out of the free log in reward crates. So, I got a RA mount out of ONE crate and I got two out of SIX crates (different times so I guess two out of twelve really). It didn't take sixty plus.

Not sure about conspiracy, something more like account manipulation.
Got my first radiant (Galvanic Storm steed) from the free crates when I returned last spring, didn’t even know yet what it was except cool mount but ZOS got what it wanted,me continue playing.Played awhile and got comfortable with the game.I subscribed and with that 1500 crowns added 15 crates(19 total per season) I’ve been extremely lucky with a crown crate RNG.From Psijic crates I got Psijic Spectral Steed in last summer. Then it took awhile, but still got apex mounts almost everytime..
3 weeks ago when Scalecallers crates were in store again I bought 19 crates and got Dragonfire Wolf.Just 2 days ago,19 crates and got that Venomous Wolf-Lizard.I have no idea why RNG favours me with Crown Crates.
I didn’t vote anything and noway I encourage people to spend money to these crates in purpose of get something specific out of them.It has nothing to do with ammounts of money you spend if rng doesn’t favour you.
I do not share this in purpose of bragging because with this same account my in game rng is just terrible.I’ve ran VMA 43 times because I want bow,no luck(and done with it for now).I don’t get master writs from the 5 maxed crafters I do daily writs.Refining is useless to me in hopes to get legendary tempers. So in anyday,I would switch my RNG luck from cosmetics to something more usefull I could actually benefit in game.
Blame me,flame me,damn me but this is one true story amongst the others.
