murkmire- unsuitable suitors bugged?

i am at the first part of the quest.
gotta find a leviathan pizzle.
i approach strange plants and i collect it and only get stunned.
i “sneak” to the plant to collect it and get stunned.
no joke, about 60 times this happens.
quest refuses to advance.
i dont understand what to do.

    There's about 20 different plants.You need to find the correct plant is all.
    Found it on the 1st try, just had to continuously reference the picture they gave to get it right.

    On a similar note with Bugmire. Is Choixth bugged? Talked to him 5 or 6 times now, same conversation every time, still doesn’t show “Run into Choixth for the first time” unlocked. PS4 NA

    I've never been able to find Choixth in either murkmire or summer set
