    I started playing CRPGs back in the mid-80s (before game forums for the most part, and before I had 'net access). The one thing I really wished for back then was somewhere to get good info on the games themselves.

    In the mid-90s I got online. I did some fun stuff with MUSH - learned some coding, set up my own game on my own server. I began to wish I'd had a computer and the internet when I was 20....

    1998 - BG1. Bioware had a forum for the game. I joined, and spent many months before the game came out, learning the forum ropes, finding out about the game before I played it. I'd preordered it.... Had some really bad experiences on their forum as there was ZERO moderation, but that set the pattern for "want to play this game? Find the forum and start asking questions."

    Now, before I even think about playing a game, I spend time (a LOT of time) on the forum. In some ways, it's not a very good way to get a feel for the game under consideration. In other ways, it is. I've been a regular on every TES forum since I don't even know when (and in there somewhere I lost the logins to my first account, and then to my second account - so all that history is long gone now).

    It's just what I do. I was a regular on the WoW CS forum. And the RIFT CS forum. And the Beth forums over the years, ending with the Skyrim forum before it morphed into the total garbage that the Beth forum is now. Nope. I don't post there....

    Habit mostly. While here I do all of the above. I like to be helpful and answer questions. And sometimes people are just being dumb and need to be told that. And I like to make my frustrations about game performance heard. And sometimes I enjoy trolling.

    But yeah, mostly out of habit.

    AB-SO-LUTE-LY! I need one to go with the little horse on the bed now - the one my daughter made from the "misery quilt". That was the quilt she spent 20 years trying to make right.... and finally.... she cut it up for plushies/stuffies.... So my little Journey lives between the pillows now - and needs a friend....
