Just like with monster helms, trial skins, and weapons.^^ :)

First few days I did all quests on three chars, didn't get a single one. "WTB charity writs 30k" in zone chat quickly got me ten. I have way too much gold anyway, and there's more fun things to do than farm those quests.

    Day 2, 1 after 12 quests
    Day 3, 5 after 36 quests
    Day 4, 6 after 27 quests

Now my friend wants me to continue grinding to get some extra writs for himself and guildies lol.

(I'll wait on buying them for the last couple days. Why buy at a premium....)

I would vote for easy grind... I don't think holiday events should be about the game's economy at all, I think they should be about everybody enjoying the event and not having to wrestle RNG, but that is my take :)

    PS4 NA trader prices I've seen for NLwrits: 250k, 200k, 80k, 67k, 30k.

15 days to go, I'm going to keep selling until the rng factor makes it not worth the time to farm.

Of all the events, this one doesn't drag players out of their comfort zones much. No PvP, no dungeons/groupfinder; just be able to run, pick locks, and kill some overland mobs. I wouldn't have participated much if there was no skin to obtain - so the devs are hearing our requests for event improvement and in-game earned mounts imo.

Wanting to have the skin before your friends/guildies is not a valid reason to adjust the rng. The amount of time they gave us should be ample to get the skin on your own or buy it when the prices adjust to supply. For reference, Nordic bather towels once sold for 60k during this event, now they are given away.

Fist couple of days left me wondering about drop rates. Now I've had 18 drop across my characters. Including six from two low level characters, both picked up 3 in one run. Got the skin and have 5 writs sitting in the bank.

I am getting one per character (9 quests) on average. Sometimes a charter gets none, sometimes a character gets 2.

I don't see any correlation between character crafting level, or motif or funiture knowledge. I've gotten 2 on a max level crafter that knows most motifs, a ton of furniture recipes, all traits and has skill poimts allocated and on a character that knows almost no furniture (just a few random green recipes they picked up), no motifs, no traits, but are level 50 in most crafts but no skill points allocated.

I’ve got 14 writs total mostly on two toons - my crafter - who is cap CP and knows almost everything and a lowbie tank that I am leveling who knows almost nothing plus a couple on other toons.

I’ve gotten 4 and 3 in one day on the above and some days nothing.

It looks like straight RNG to me - I’d say mine’s been pretty good tho :)

Now that I’m selling the writs, I won’t be surprised if my RNG falls apart now lol.

I received none at all the first day or two, I was opening the reward each time I turned one in. The last two days I just waited till I had all nine dailies done and opened them all at once and received four. Maybe just random luck who knows.

Yeah, it's RNG. I've waited to open all the boxes at once, and have 2 total.

Low drop rates (and reliance on strict RNG without any mitigating factors) increase the amount of time you spend doing certain content, dragging out how long it takes you to complete your goals, thus creating the illusion that there's more content than there really is. (Same with the nonsensical numbers of trash mobs everywhere.)

Thing is, ESO has enough content by now that they really don't need to do this anymore. It's kind of sad that they haven't gotten over this bad impulse.

In 100% honesty, I strongly suspect a certain number of people at ZOS, people who get to select many of the drop rate, are simply bad people. Malicious and cruel individuals who think our time is without value--and what you consider a person's time worth is exactly what you consider the person worth. Not all of them by any means, but enough for some serious nastiness to get through.

It;s just up and down, did 3 toons on Sunday and got 2 from each, did the same 3 Monday for 0, did the same 3 yesterday for a total of 2.

Sad part is they're running the same event every year and actually need to add new rewards to get people interested. If the event was actually fun or enjoyable, or the rewards were in demand, they wouldn't need to 'spice it up'.

The terrible drop rate of writs combined with having to run the same quests over and over again, combined with long loading screens, is making this event not fun at all. Almost an hour per character, and the rewards are the same boxes of junk. Give me the writs already so I can do something fun in the game.

ZOS loves RNG - it's stupid and lazy design, but there isn't much you can do about it. Except bypass it...

Keep in mind, that your personal experiences do not constitute large enough sample to be a meaningful indicator about the actual drop rates. If you are lucky, you may feel that they drop pretty often, and wonder what the hub hub is all about, and if you are unlucky, you may think they drop once in a blue moon.

You need to collate the experiences of large group of players for any sort of meaningful numbers, and even so, you are just left with the probability of a drop, no guarantees that your experience will match that number.

But the thing is... they do drop, and do drop fairly often for the community as a whole. Lot's of people have had enough of them drop by now for the skin, and there are constant calls of WTS in zone chat. So they do drop, but RNG is RNG and they might not drop for you.

This time around my RNG was okay - I got enough writs by day two, and from there on, have made a tidy profit by selling the extra ones I got. The profit has drastically decreased each day, as more and more players have finished the achievement, and plenty of players are now grinding the quests just to get these writs to sell. First day I saw calls between 100k and 70k, today I saw someone selling them for 10k a pop. I sold one for 20k today.

From tomorrow on, I think I'll just do one quest a day for the tickets and the mystery box. I can make much better profit by spending my time doing something else. And that is the key I think...

If you are having no luck with the quests, have done all the other achievements and are fed up with the boring repetitive busybody quests, go do something else. Circumvent the whole grind.

Personally I prefer a game, where I do content, and am rewarded with cool things. But that is not this game, in this game I grind gold by doing content, and then buy the things I want from other players, and spend most of my time doing things I actually enjoy.

The price of these new life writs is going down each day. On day one you had to fork over a million and more to get enough for the achievement, today that cost was less than 200k, and a week from now.. Who knows how low it will drop.

There is, however, bound to be a minimum price though, so keep that in mind. On average it seems to take about 45 minutes to get one of these writs, assuming you know what you are doing and you don't have bad RNG. So the question is - how much gold can you grind in that time period by doing something less aggravating? If you can grind more gold than what people are asking in zone via WTS calls, then you really should just buy them and not waste your life on this horribly repetitive grind.

I know it is not the ideal solution, but until ZOS wises up and drops RNG based designs, it really is the only thing you can do if RNGesus refuses to bless your efforts.

I always get 1 writs after 9 event quest.
I play on 3 characters. Only have time to play 3.
I have 6 cp max'd. The others are babies.
    The event is actually fun.

    *BUMP*

I was going to post a new thread saying PLEASE FIX THE RNG TABLES FOR THIS EVENT. I have a zillion gajillion rune boxes and freaking boot blueprints after grinding on several different toons of different classes/levels, and I only got TWO writs so far. All I need to get the accomplishment on the event at this point is the writs, and I also want the cool skin.

Lots of us here have day jobs and can't spend 4 hours a day grinding the same darn quests for piles of identical garbage....help us out please.

I believe the New Life writs share the same concept of Master Writ chances. The more completed motifs (or maybe housing designs?) you know, the more common they are to drop. My master crafter who has all motifs and reads all the furniture designs got like 3 in a row, and gets around 5 each day. So, keep that in mind. Lowbies just to grind dailies aren’t necessarily gonna help you.

I don’t think that is the case. I have a grandmaster crafter that knows all the motifs that have been released so far and he got 1 New Life Writ so far and I did all 9 quests every day so far. And one of my new characters who isn’t a crafter at all got 2 New Life Writs so far.

THIS. I have been grinding my butt off on several toons since the event started, and the 2 writs that dropped for me were on my non-crafter toon, while my level 50 cook/woodworker/clothier got zilch.

3 characters on EU and 5 on NA each doing all 9 quests every day. I have 9 writs on EU, 8 on NA, and piles upon piles of knives, swords, oil buns, and mud balls. This is all I've been doing in the game since the event started.

I can't figure out how people had the skin within 24 hours. Is the achievement from last year and they only needed a few more writs this year?

That is not what the game is about. Farming event items to make gold is disgraceful to me. Who gives a toss if the prices drop to 'rock bottom'. All the items found in this event should be account bound to stop the woeful exploitation of the unlucky gamers that are experiencing the very worst of ZOS's RNG.

I agree. Events shouldn’t be a gold making opportunity for those that are lucky with the RNG. Not for an event item, such as the skin. Not that I have time to even make any gold to buy them since I have this crazy expectation that, with all of the time I am dedicating to this grindy event should be enough for me to obtain the skin without having to enrich other players in the process.
