Are There Any Full Magicka Sorc Tanks?

I have mained a MagSorc DPS since launch. He's completed every quest and has all skyshards outside of Cyrodiil. I'm starting to get a little bored with him so I was thinking of respec-ing as a full on Magicka based tank. Something like Sword & Board front Lightning Staff back, Plague Dr. for the health, not sure on a second set.

Is anyone running anything like this? Or are there any good updated builds for MagSorc Tanks?

Edit: This is to be used in Vet 4-man content.

Mag Sorc Tanks are very popular. Nearly every time I que up in normal dungeons, I get a magic sorc as the tank. :D:D

I tried doing the same with my magsorc a while back. Got 1-shot in vFH on the mammoth... Through freshly applied shield and block. Do not recommend making a magsorc tank. Though that wasn't with PD, had like 25k HP, and before shields started scaling with resistances.

If you just want something different, try making your sorc a healer. As healers sorcs do pretty well.

Yes. I have one character that I used and he's specced as a Magicka Sorcerer for DPS. Somewhere along the way I decided that I wanted to try something different, so I decided to try my hand at tanking.

I've tanked all normal dungeons, most veteran dungeons and tanked a few normal trials.

My "traditional tank" set-up is as follows:

    Set 1: Ebon - Tri-stat
Favour this over Plague Doctor. Plague Doctor is a "selfish" set - it only helps you. Ebon provides buffs for your whole group. I did start with Plague Doctor when I was learning.

Set 2: Lich / Worm Cult
Lich is great for sustain and I run it as a backbar set. The boost in magicka recovery means I can spam a lot of magicka skills

    Monster helm:
    Blood spawn, tri-stat

All attribute points are specced into magicka.

Food: Tri-stat food (the extra stamina is a must for blocking and a few of the skills)

Bar 1: Maelstrom Sword & Shield - this is a must for me. That extra recovery is really hard to beat.
1: Pierce Armor (Sword and shield - taunt with Major Breach)
2: Heroic Slash (Sword and shield - great with the maelstrom Sword and Shield)
3: Empowered Ward (Sorcerer - provides a great "Oh crap" shield or when you anticipate incoming damage - with changes to shields in the last update this is an even better skill. It also provides minor intellect for your group)
4: Silver Leash (Fighter's Guild - pulls in adds)
5: Twilight Matriarch - (Sorcerer - a little DPS, some very nice heals)

Ultimate: Temporal Guard - 8% damage reduction, extra shield on block - Seldom activate this. I use bar 2 instead.

Bar 2: Destruction Staff - Lich - usually Ice - this provides a ranged taunt, a small shield
1: Liquid Lightning (Sorcerer - flex slot - I like to add concussion and damage)
2: Wall of elements (Destruction staff - with an ice staff it'll show enemies down)
3: Power Surge (Sorcerer - boost spell and weapon damage, provide a nice self-heal)
4: Boundless storm (Sorcerer - slight mobility boost, a little AOE DPS but more importantly resistance boost)
5: Twilight Matriarch - (Sorcerer - a little DPS, some very nice heals)
Ultimate: (Alliance Assault) Aggressive Warhorn or (Alliance Support) Reviving Barrier

I flex out a lot of these depending on what the group needs - sometimes I'll run a few more DPS-focused skills, sometimes I'll add some more heals. Sometimes I'll switch out for Inner Fire (undaunted), Energy Orb (Undaunted), Efficient Purge (Alliance Support), Elemental Drain (Destruction staff) or Destructive Clench (Destruction staff - very nice ranged interrupt).

If you manage your sustain right between Lich, the maelstrom weapons and heavy attacks you can be the last one standing for a long, long time.

This is just a quick look but if you want more information I'd be happy to help.
