Crystallized shield vs reflective scales

Crystallized scales just looks like a worse reflective scales.

3 projectiles vs 4.

The damage reflected back is minor vs full on reflecting the attack back at them along with its effects.

Why did they give wardens just a generally worse version of the same ability

Maybe because its base cost is lower and it also restores magicka for each projectile it absorbs ?

I wouldn't say lower cost, magicka return, the cap being based on damage instead of amount of projectiles (to Scales, a light attack is equal to an Assassin's Will proc), and Major Heroism (especially considering DK could make much better use of the ultigen than Warden) is weaker.

The second morph, yes it sort of is. However it also costs 2/5th of the amount after absorbing. Less dmg yes, but far far cheaper. It also absorbs bird, which wings doesn't.

The you get the ult morph which blows scales miles out the water. 6s+ Major heroism+3 absorbs for about 1.5k. 2s snare removal + 4 reflects for 3.7k

Don't ever use this morph unless you want to gimp yourself. Shimmering Shield is far superior due to the insane ultimate generation. Slab provides a virtually infinite range slowish projectile that does a little less than half a spammable and provides no special effects other than the glacial presence chilled boost. Enemies just don't feel it. I've tried it to save you the trouble. Just use shimmering shield. Hope this helps anyone who thinks that this morph is good. It isn't. And its a pain point we reported.

As a player who has three Wardens, sometimes it’s OK for skills to be different (between classes) for build diversity.

It’s still scaled on number of projectiles for one less too.

Use Shimmering Shield. Shimmering is FAR superior to Reflective Plate at mitigation, plus the ult gen is amazing. It also has better counterplay since there is a clear visual indicator of how many absorbs are left.

Wings has 2 sec snare removal, which is a good secondary effect. But as a user of both, Wings is more likely to just not work at actually reflecting compared to Shimmering.

Stamden out-DKs DKs. Except Leap is much sexier.

More like warden is DK on steroids. . Its kind of sad that after more than a year, picking a warden (stam or mag) is still more beneficial than picking a Dk in almost any scenario I can think of, with the exception of dueling, cause only losers take dueling balance seriously.

Edit: on the topic of warden shield versus wings, I would say wings with the snare immunity is actually competitive now. But If I had the option I would definitely go for shimmering shields.
