So I was just in Alikr desert & everything was running normally no problem, got a soul shard, found a wayshrine, harvested some mats but then when I got to a dolmen my controls stopped working, then everybody froze & a minute later I was kicked/logged off.

So I go back on harvest some more mats & maybe 5-10 minutes hear the dolmen go off & figure why not try it again.

The same thing happens, lose controls, everything freezes & I get kicked off again.

This is absolutely ridiculous, I'm an 6 monthly renewing ESO+ member & also just bought 21k of crowns- what exactly am I paying for? Poor service?

Or is that they've got my money now so it doesn't matter whether I can even play the game & do what I want in it like join in on a dolmen?

Earlier in the day I was in pvp in Cyrodil when suddenly I couldn't swap to my back bar which was kind of annoying because I ended up dying.

There are occasions where I try to log on & it keeps saying it can't connect (despite the internet working fine for like everything else) so the only thing I figured I can do is to restart my pc then it connects

There are also other times where I log in, go to swap out or rearrange my skills & the slots are blank & even after slotting the skills back in they disappear again & the only solution is to restart my pc.

Do these sorts of things happen to anyone else?

Yes I do run the Steam version which may have something to do with some of my issues (?) but if I had known I was going to have such issues *I wouldn't have bought the steam version* & if it doesn't run properly on Steam why are ZOS allowing them to sell the game on the Steam platform in the first place?

Thankfully they fixed it - but this game used to be incompatible with McAfee. Nearly every update used to give me endless log in problems.

So you may want to try temporarily disabling your antivirus program if you have one to see if that helps.

I'm posting an update on this in case it helps anyone else experiencing the same or similar issues and to correct the misperception that all I ever wanted by making the original post was just to complain.

    In regards to being kicked out/back to the character login screen whilst attempting to do a busy Alik'r Dolmen or having other issues resulting in getting kicked out/back to the character login and/or being unable to interact or use the e key or having problems with the skills window;

I don't believe it is my system being unable to handle the load.

These are my results from Can You Run It and I run ESO on the highest settings except maybe for shadows due to the fact that sometimes I play it with Nvidia 3D Vision enabled and I think the shadows look buggy except on lower quality and I have only sometimes gotten minor lag at super busy Dolmens or when I start the game and Master Merchant is loading its report or if Avast starts it's scheduled weekly scan.

I realised that the time I've had the problem with the Dolmens and the times I've had other similar problems (unable to interact, skills window errors etc) is when there has been a long interval since previously playing ESO or I have been playing ESO on off for a long interval. By long I mean say overnight.

If I restart my pc (I rarely turn it off) or it's been off then I generally don't have any issues or problems.

I think it has something do with my internet connection.

I have noted that if I use Utorrent to start a download of something after my pc has been on for a long interval that sometimes the torrents may only reach a certain lower speed that isn't the most of what my connection is capable of.

After restarting my pc those same torrents will start downloading at the highest possible speed.

I still sometimes but rarely get booted off/back to the login screen even when my pc hasn't been running for a long interval or has been restarted before I start playing ESO but as there is something about my internet connection that affects both Utorrent and ESO if my pc has been running for a long interval, in order to avoid very likely having these kinds of problems I simply just restart my pc first.

hahaha great to see that 950 still chugging along. That thing really was a beast even on factory speeds and ran this game flawlessly for years, the only reason I upgraded from it is that a relative sells hardware, otherwise I'd still be using it.
It's the weakest part of your setup and I know for sure that it's more then adequate for ESO.

ZO$ don't give a ***, they take your money and clearly fail to reinvest it in the game. We've had poor optimisation and network problems since day 1 and occasionally they make a token effort that does a bit then it *** up again later.
Murkmire is unplayable ATM for me other zones are bad but at least playable, 90% of my time there is <20fps max so I just quit questing there. I shouldn't be struggling to get console level FPS with a 1080Ti and 7700K all installed on a good SSD when I can get 40-60fps at 4k in a highly populated city in WoW with an average of 20-30 ping when I average 80-120 in ESO.

Yeah I have a CoolerMaster V10 Hybrid TEC cooler on the 950 in a CoolerMaster HAF X Case with 4 intake fans and 3 exhaust fans.

My 8 year old setup has run every game I ever wanted to play on it fine (I only run games in 1920 x 1080 anyway as my Alienware monitor has a 120hz refresh rate but using Nvidia 3D Vision doubles the load) and I have a 3D projector connected to it too (tired ESO in 2D on it but using my usb xbox controller and hated it compared to using the mouse/keyboard) but if I do upgrade at least I can still keep using my GTX1070 and hard drives.

I've only been to Murkmire once or twice so I can't really compare though back on my old pc when I first started playing Morrowind which came with the video card I was using at the time and later Oblivion my FPS was noticeably not so great.

I don't know if ESO is just one of those games that's sensitive to internet connections but I had never had problems with Dark Souls PTDE and DOTA2.

My operating system drive which is primarily for Windows 10 is a SSD and my gaming drive just for games is also an SSD too.

Okay thanks yeah I have Avast, and if I'm playing ESO and Avast starts it's scheduled scan I do get lag but I did put G:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Zenimax Online\* into Avast's exclusions so ESO should be excluded from all scanning/shield protection.
