If it is indeed the next chapter. Will it be more of the same ol same ol? A 3 hour at best sprint through forgettable content and then a few days after of mind numbing dailies to grab at some uninspired motif pages? Or is this finally the Orsinium style return to glory, complete with the addition of many wonderful items to obtain through regular gameplay? Discuss.

Are you really sprinting through the chapter stories in 3 hours? You may find you enjoy it more if you do a two or three quests per day, explore, soak in the scenery, read the lore books you find, listen to all of the NPC dialogue, talk to some random NPCs. We get 4 updates a year and they're pretty rich if you slow down.

I'm a roleplayer, so I take the time to take literally EVERYTHING in. I've been here since beta and in my opinion, the content since Orsinium is severely lacking. The cities feel dead and devoid of life. There is nothing dynamic to see or do anymore with each update. Little care is put into the questing, the dialogue, the events, the dailies, the landscapes, ect. Each new chapter and DLC is the same rehashed quick hit, forgettable drivel as the last. I am hoping we get back to a time where more thought and care was put into DLC's.

FREE CRAFTING (NA PC) SIDENOTE: Hel'phaer is a Grand Master Crafter with almost every motif (excluding Buoyant, Meridian, Coldsnap, Grim Harlequin, Tsaesci, Pellitine, and Elder Argonian because can't afford it) and will craft attractive quality and visually appealing training gear or combat sets for those interested. FREE gear for players below CP 160 (equivalent level of 210), and paid gear in some form from those CP 160 or higher.

I don't really understand the romanticizing of Orsinium, particularly in the context of bashing other content as being inferior to it.

There was a substantial story content drought between Upper Craglorn in Update 4 (September 2014) and Imperial City in Update 7 (August 2015). Orsinium in Update 8 (November 2015) was the first new wholly PVE story content in quite some time.

So I see Orsinium as a bridge to quarterly content updates, and completely on par both with what preceded it and what followed it. And yet some people still managed to sprint through Orsinium and then had nothing to do until the #SorcsAreDead movement of early 2016...

Are you sure you aren't just feeling nostalgic towards Orsinium? Because the first half of your post sounds a lot like Orsinium to me...

Though forgettable content isn't the term I would use, as I quite liked the quests from every DLC so far, but if you feel the latest chapters are that, then Orsinium is no different.

I tend to put Orsinium on a pedestal as the gold standard as far as ESO content releases go. In my opinion, no other release to date has come close to the quality. I suppose if I were a new player, it could be hard to really see a difference overall in content. Something has to give though. Murkmire was the absolute bottom dropping out for me. I read every line, took my time, completed every achievement. Can't remember any of it. Forgettable. The formula they have begun to use for content updates is extremely stale. All seasonal events are repeats with little to no new quests and items. Older zones are abandoned and there is never a reason to return. It's so formulaic now and that's sad. The next release will be a small zone with a major city/quest hub. It will have 2 world bosses at most and a few delves. You will travel in a circle completing poorly written quests and then begin to do your two dailies if you fancy the newest motif. The only new and innovative things that pop up are in the crown store. As far as PvE goes, this has quickly become a painfully simplistic dress up sim. I'd like to see something new after 4 years.

To each their own. I certainly thought Morrowind wasn't quite as good as Orisinium and Summerset was less than that, but tbh, I think that says more about the high quality of Morrowind and higher quality of Orisinium than anything else.

As for Murkmire, I found the place, the backstory, the exploration, and the quests quite compelling. Same with CWC.
The formula they have begun to use for content updates is extremely stale.

Okay, I can see why one would feel that way, though I don't agree.
All seasonal events are repeats with little to no new quests and items.

I wish this were more true. I actually do wish there was nothing new to seek in New Life Festival so I could run more alts through story content and stop doing the same quests I got tired of two years ago.
Older zones are abandoned and there is never a reason to return.

Not sure what you want here. Those stories are told.
It's so formulaic now and that's sad. The next release will be a small zone with a major city/quest hub. It will have 2 world bosses at most and a few delves. You will travel in a circle completing poorly written quests and then begin to do your two dailies if you fancy the newest motif.

I see where you're coming from on the formula, but honesty, pretty much any other game would consider the chapters plenty of content per year. One big zone and one smaller zone is more than I can get all my characters through in a year (assuming a normal workload at work) anyway. I'll agree that the dailies stuff is starting to get a little old, but the main change I would make to these is to cut it out with the incessant grinds so we can accomplish our goals and move on to something else.
The only new and innovative things that pop up are in the crown store.

Ah ha, now we get to a truly serious, genuine, legitimate complaint. This is currently godawful and is only getting worse, and it's the #1 thing making me wonder how much life the game has in it as far as I'm concerned.
As far as PvE goes, this has quickly become a painfully simplistic dress up sim.

I don't... what... just no, man. Sorry.
I'd like to see something new after 4 years.

Got any suggestions of what they could shake things up (on approximately the same budget)?

While i mostly agree, i wouldn't compare Orsinium to zone dlcs, as it was obviously the first chapter. But as it was before ZOS realized they can monetize it, we got it as a zone dlc.

And if i must compare Orsinium to either Vvardenfell or Summerset, there's not much of a difference in quality. My personal opinion is later two are even better, maybe because i don't like Orcs at all.

We get new things with chapters like Warden class or Psijic skill line or jewellery crafting etc. but i agree that development is heavily leaning on crown store and cosmetics atm. Thinking ZOS is getting more and more into it, i believe it works for the best profit. I stopped caring about cosmetics when they stopped meaning anything, but apparently i'm minority.

As for the OP, i bet my gold on that Elsweyr will be either zone or dungeon dlc, not chapter. Both which won't bring too much into table.

I think the bulk of the playerbase would like an Orsinium experience

Not encessarily the "exact" same experience per-se, but that level of content, world experience, etc. We don't need another variation of Domens, or another continent with half of it covered by mountains (a.k.a. unexplorable). We don't need a huge earthshaking fight against some other super daedra team bent on destroying the world.

just give us an interesting plot with decent and proliferate side quests, a solid amount of daily quest options, new areas and skyshards of course. WE don't necessarily need new dungeons to add to the pleothora of dungeons that people avoid unless it's a pledge (and often skip even with that). the beauty of Orsinium was we didnt' need to be saving the world, or fighting death defying monsters on other planes of existence. A simple fight for a crown with some amazing plot twists were all that were needed to make the Orsinium story amazing.

My suggestion would be to open up a large scale area like the rest of Western Skyrim. Have the cities and some parts of it faceroll easy like the rest of the game for newer players. A nice story to go along with the usual solo experience. The rest however, I would like to see as a Craglorn on steroids. A violent and dangerous open area perhaps half the size of Cyrodiil. Elite monsters and enemies throughout, not just set world bosses. Perhaps some key Forts and towns are under Reachman control and they can be sieged by players to change hands and unlock npc's that sell specific gear and cosmetics. If not defended, they will be besieged again and locked out. Could be roaming bands of raid tier difficulty enemy packs that have a chance to drop lucrative rewards, be it gear or purely cosmetic. I've got about a million other ideas but that's the first one that pops up in this self admitted nord fanboys head. ;)

Usually it's considered better because of the unique characters having more of a life to them and appearing several times.

It's likely soon, since the next crown crate season after Xanmeer is Bandaari themed. The crate themes generally match with the dlc/chapters going on at the time.

Which worries me since if it's soon, it'll be a dlc and not chapter. Elsweyr deserves a full fledged chapter, not a story dlc or even worse, a freaking dungeon dlc

Could you imagine, two freaking dungeons being all we see of Elsweyr??

Yeah Elsweyr without a full chapter would be ridiculous that said Baandari are traders not the actual Elsweyr clan leaders* and such. Perhaps it's not the right crown crate representation

Well keep in mind Psijic are only one facet of Altmer and summerset, yet that was the theme name of the Summerset chapter crates. I would find it odd that they would do a Baandari season and another Khajiit themed season, at least remotely anytime soon.

Not that I would complain about having two khajiit themed crate seasons...

I want Elsweyr to be properly divided into two different zones, Anequina and Pelletine. Lore-wise they are supposed to be two distinct zones with different geographical features and politics. I don't want ZOS to merge them into a small contiguous zone, that won't treat Elsweyr right. Valenwood and High Rock were divided into three and a half zones, so please give Elsweyr its due.

    Other wishes would be
    1. One or two dungeons that are integrated with the chapter, similar in difficulty to base game dungeons
    2. One full length trial and one mini trial. It has been long since we were treated to a full trial and is long overdue at this point. The trial should have an approachable normal mode and a super difficult veteran mode
    3. ZOS usually doesn't disappoint with the story, so I trust that they will do a good job.
    4. Few additions to keep the pvp'ers happy. Opening up the lower Nibenay valley and Topal bay in Cyrodill may be?
    5. FIX the Skuldafn disaster while you are at it please
