Worth coming back?

I play on PS4 and last time I played ESO was last January. I've been playing other games since and well I'm missing having an MMORPG to play and well I was basically wondering is it worth buying Summerset and coming back to the game? I partially left before cause the PvE meta at the time was so boring and rotations were literally just "ability, HA, ability, HA" and it got so boring while PvP was badly toxic and horribly balanced sets where heavy armor still ruled everything. So...has anything changed? Is PvE more fun or have good content and does PvP still perform horribly with lag and is it still unbalanced?
Playing on PS4 NA server and current characters are CP 750

Lvl 50 EP High Elf Magsorc PvP (outdated)
Lvl 50 EP Wood Elf Nightblade (Currently my crafter)
Lvl 50 EP High Elf Magplar PvP (outdated healbot)
Lvl 50 EP Redguard Stam DK PvE (updating)
Lvl 50 EP Dark Elf Mag DK PvP

All my builds are outdated...I quit for a year lmao

As others have said nothing drastic has changed, some meta changes here and there and new content. Rotations are much more focused on light attack weaves now, more so depending on class/build.

Sadly ZOS can't patch toxic people in the game, best to just avoid/block them and enjoy it without them. Balance wise again depends on class and build.

It's B2P though, doesn't cost you anything but some download time to try it out again.

I say come back until you get tired of it again then take another break. The ability to light weave as opposed to necessary heavy is nice, but my god the nerfing. MY GOD THE NERFING.

No...to sum it up the combat team is so incompetent and slow to adjust they resemble bureaucratic leadership of a communist country...1 class dominates endgame PvE for 3 DLCs....

I'd say this is the best answer. Come back without buying Summerset or ESO+, and if you're not bored after a month, then you can decide if you want to pay for something.

Honestly, everything is generally more or less the same pattern concept and nothing really "new" to the game. Summerset is just like any other zone with quest markers to chase for little reward. It has its bells and whistles like the psijic skill line but its nothing you absolutely need. In any case you just have to accept the fact you will encounter trash players in any game, but if you find yourself a good guild its a massive change of experience.

Also, honestly, ive recently taken a look at games out currently out, this is probably as good as it gets for now. You might want to look up Ashes of Creation, which sounds really good but when it comes out next year is another story.

    Summerset is worth it.

Also, most of the nerfs people are crying about in this thread were, overall, good for PvP. There's been some latency issues lately, and I think a lot of people are feeling kinda burned by the last release. Mirkmire and the associated balance changes were a bit exhausting. But, beyond that the game is in a better state overall than it was last January.

I'd personally have to say no. It's not worth it. I've been way happier without eso for the last 2 months. Games too much of a frustration lately and some groups in our community have reached a new low yet again.

But go ahead and see it for yourself. Perhaps you'll fit right in.

Although to be fair... Consoles seem to have it way better. Might be worth a shot.

I don't know why you left, and I don't know what the game was like when you left (just started playing in June). But if you're asking anonymous gamers online.... well.... that probably means you should think really hard about why you're asking, and if you really want to come back or not.

Take this for what you will. I came back, last week to be exact, and I also play on PS4 (NA). I have logged thousands of hours in ESO, and my honest opinion is... no, it is not worth coming back. I feel as if performance is even worse. It got really bad with Summerset (surprised that is even possible), which is what I quickly left after. However, thinking it couldn't have gotten any worse, I logged in last week. Between the nerfs and down right *** poor performance the game is absolutely awful.

I logged in last night with my only expectation being to train some horses on alts (that would now be my main due to Nerfmire changes), and to work toward leveling one of my healers from 34 to as close to CP as I could get before having enough of the atrocious performance. I managed to get to 44 using XP pots, and it was tough to even endure that. I'll probably still occasionally login to train mounts, research items on alts, and try to get this healer to level 50 in hopes one day they can un-sink the titanic that they currently piloting. If you are hoping to come back and actually play content that matters, save yourself the trouble and play something else.

The game has been off and on for me. Some patches have been great. Some not so much, The toxicity has always been bad tho

Only toxicity I've run into is on the forum. Then again, I don't do pvp, and I don't interact much in game (serious - I'm not going to group when I'm running 2000 ms ping - that would be seriously detrimental to any group play).

Summerset is one of the best questing zones in the entire game. But since that's not the kind of thing you're asking about -- no, there have been no major changes, especially not in the direction of making combat more interesting.

PvP is more or less the same as it ever was... It is still possible to find fun if you can laugh off the problems, avoid toxic people, and just do your thing.

PvE has some bright spots left. Stam Wardens are pretty fun and don't use heavy attack rotations. I hate running anything Magicka right now due to the awful sustain nerfs that just seem to keep coming. Magicka NB was the last bright spot and the combat team decided to snuff it out rather than improve the other classes.

I find it is a lot easier to enjoy the game if you are flexible and can switch out the things that the combat team ruins from patch to patch. If you are stuck on one kind of build and unwilling to change then you will probably not be happy.
    Playing since beta...

Lol I played on PS4 and ill say do yourself a favour and do not come back and invest your time into this game

Whatever you get good at will be nerfed next patch and the devs put in 5% effort into PVP

Other 95% is nerfs and repetitive boring dungeons they keep releasing. Button mashing rotations to kill a 10m HP boss with 1 shot mechanics... yay, fun. -.-

Dont do it to yourself, walking away from this game was a great decision I made tbh

If you criticise a game, you're "toxic" on the internet.

We live in the era of fairies where people are so easily offended and cant take criticism.

Saying ESO is bad now isnt toxic, its simply the truth

It depends on what you are interested in. If all you want to do is Dungeon or Trial content, or PvP, maybe consider playing a different game. Nothing has changed substantially except that different sets are considered “correct” for certain builds (Olorime is the new Spell Power Cure, for example).

You might have fun playing the new DLC dungeons that have come out, as well as the Cloudrest trial and Blackrose Prison arena. They’re all fun the first few times at least, and you could get extra mileage out of trying to unlock the skins you get from achievements.

If you like doing story content, you should DEFINITELY come back! Summerset and Murkmire are both a blast to explore, and offer some of the best stories and questing in the game. I personally liked Murkmire more because the environment was denser, but both are very good.

I left just before Morrowind and came back only recently. Maybe 20 months? I'm having fun; there's a lot of content I've missed and the game still has its old charm. What I've experienced since returning has been 100% the same though. Aside from the new content everything looks the same, plays the same, sounds the same, and feels the same. It literally feels as if ESO is a time capsule, and I grew two years while it mostly remained static.

I left the game just before Morrowind and came back a while ago. I had a bit of fun with ESO for a short period on my return, but the game is still unchallenging and lacks consistency, the performance and bugs are still rotten.

I've only just come on the forum today to see when the latest festival starts, the last one was a total mess however, I don't really play the game now unless it's to get my Indrik feathers due to some misplaced FOMO, so I tend to play other games mostly.

My advice, try the game for free for a bit but do not sub, the sub is worthless and I am pleased I did not resub when I returned. If you enjoy what you see, then that's great, but for me, my interest upon returning was fairly short-lived.

If one plays casual then the game is okay...but for people who really like MMO's...well...the game-play sucks because the developers want to make it right for everyone. PvP or PvE, not both. Best to divide the servers...in my opinion.

Honestly..the constant twiddling with combat stats gets really...really annoying for me because....

Having tuned a rotation to max the next patch messes things up and leaves me frustrated. It is comparable to a game where someone is moving the goal constantly. That STINKS! No good graphics make up for that kind of behavior by the Devs.

The quests...well, some are good and some are so *** that I want to cry. However...there are so many quests that one can easily bypass half of them and still have fun.

By all means...come back...play casually...and if you have fun continue...else move on to...wherever. Remember however...other games got the similar problems.

I will not say Yes or No but, I will advise against opening up a paid subscription if you do come back. The state of the game is the worst it has ever been so play for free.
