Mages Guild Ending, Impact on Character?

I completed the Mages Guild quest line nearly a year ago, and I chose the choice where you get the lorebook thing, not the two skillpoints. I haven't done the quest line on another character, and was wondering what the impact was on my main, the one who has done the quest. I don't think there is a way I can get those skillpoints, so essentially have I missed out on two? Also, if I had chosen the skillpoints, would I still have the lorebook thing in my Journal?

You missed the SkillPoints, you would still have the shalidor's library with the other option.
There is no way to get the points back. You don't really need them, but it hurts. I did the same mistake, there is no trade off in this quest. There is no point to take this option, other than RP I guess.

    It is.
I've sent a support ticket asking If I could get the item that gives the points in any way, I don't know, out of generosity on their end maybe? The answer was like "sorry, you can't undo a quest already done".

If it helps, characters created before owning a chapter like morrowind or summerset will miss out on one those tutorial skillpoints. So while i sacrificed valaste, i will be missing a skillpoint because my character was created before morrowind even existed as a chapter.

For context, characters created after owning a chapter will do a chapter tutorial that awards a skillpoint and are able to go to the wailing prison tutorial and collect another skillpoint. Players who don't own a chapter start off in the wailing prison tutorial with no way to do the chapter tutorials for their skillpoint.

It just means I missed out on 3 SkillPoints. Now I just have the pvp rank left. And those from after Clockwork city.

It help a bit on skill point starved caracters.
However its more than enough skillpoints in game for max use say healer + DD + PvP + master crafter in 7 crafts.
No you can not select all but you don't need skills you don't use.
So in the end you has to do 3 more delves.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

From a completionist viewpoint, it's a pain in the you know because that extra skillpoint from the chapter tutorial was not a choice i was given to make to lose out on. Atleast with valaste i was given a choice.

Im close to getting all the skillpoints in the game and i only need 5 more from alliance ranks but ill never have that 1 skillpoint from the chapter tutorial.

There is a tradeoff. Two skill points versus doing a good thing and staying a good person. ^^ Fair's fair.

Really, the game has more than enough skill points for everything. I've maxed out every single craft and a lot of skill lines (including those I'm not using now), and I didn't even collect all shards (a bunch in Cyrodiil remains), didn't do two more alliance quest lines, DLC quest lines, and I think only have ten out of possible fifty points for PvP ranks. Two points is nothing compared to how many are out there to be had.

Those 2 skill points are worthless in the grand scheme of things. There are way more than enough skill points in the game to max out all the skill lines you could ever want, and each DLC and chapter adds another 10+ skill points to the game.

I saved Velaste. My disappointment is that you never see her again! My reward is that my top three characters are each sitting on top of 30-60 unused excess skill points so I could care less about missing out on a couple from that quest.

When I was new folks would say there are enough skill points available in this game to do any/everything you could want. That seemed hard to believe back then but now I know it to be true.

In the grand scheme of things the 2 skill points can be easily gotten elsewhere, if you do the various DLCs and DLC dungeons you will have more than enough skill points to max nearly every skill tree (not that there is any need to).

Even though this is probably common knowledge by now, you should probably add spoiler to your title.

Unless it changes quest options or dialogue if they ever release Shimmering Isles chapter, there is only RP value.

Not a single quest in the game affects anything other than minor visible differences (presence/absence of an NPC.)

Not even the red options have any true consequences. (No fame. No infamy.)

If choose to save Valaste, she can be found outside the guild hall on Eyevea as her permanent residence.

Lilatha can be found reading in one of the alcoves on the island of Artaeum and you can have a dialog with her (the dialog vary depends whether you have met her before or not)

Tirwin can be found in near the shores west of Alinor and also you can have a dialog with her as well

    It was your choice.

I don't remember details--was the 2 skillpoint reward clearly spelled out?

I would never sacrifice skillpoints in this game for narrative. There are just too many things to put skill points in, especially on my main. He is my crafter and he is a tank. Being a tank means needing points in all 3 armors and at least 4 weapon skill lines (s&b, destro, and melee+range when not tanking). Plus skills for tanking and for dps (when soloing). When you start adding in things like legerdemain, antiquities, guilds, Cyrodiil, it really adds up.

My main tank is currently specced for dps while I clear a backlog of content, and I managing skill points is a lot easier.

I'm not finding this to be the case. When I start a new character, I do the tutorial. At some point I go do the wailing prison. But that skill point is from completing a part of the Main Questline, just like every other skill point from completing a section of the Main quest. Its not from doing the tutorial.

I think the best reward of saving her would be that she because your house guest. The only problem is the fact that houses are account wide so you could save her with one char but see her with another char as a guest. Maybe instancing helps but I thinnk the is no room for this in the developers priority list.
