Tbh this problem can be easily fixed by implementing the same system method like cod via mail. You received a mail which crown items included and charged you gold if you accept it.

But I just don't know why they don't wanna do it. It can saves a lot of troubles (no more report tickets about crown store scammed.).

I always get a feeling that no action is taken against scammers so that people will learn and refrain from gold to crown exchange since after a long time, we're still not getting an in game trading mechanic for these kind of transactions.

Is it that hard to implement these kind of stuff? Just give us COD crown gifts, it's that easy.

COD for crown gifting would be one way. But, what would happen if the recipient refused the COD? The crowns are spent, would the sender get refunded the crown or stuck with the item, what of the sender already has the item and can't get a duplicate? Seems this could create a whole new set of problems, including item dupping to fraud.

Should be a permaban. We do not want or need people who are capable of doing that to other people in this game. There is no use for them, they are completely without worth. It's like leaving dog crap on the sidewalk, just why make people step around that when you can hose it off.

Might be safer to join discord association for it.

    Tamerial crown exchange

Think this is only PC @Tasear they have a EU counterpart too, but doesn't look like they cover Xbox

OP what i would say is to use known players. Guild mates or folks from this forum. Danger lurks in anonymity

    This.

If Zos allows such things, they also should care that nobody gets scammed.

Yeah, I didn't think of it, but maybe something like a token will works. if someone turn down the deal, then the item can turn into a token which equals same crown values.

I mean yea, there'll always be some minor/major issues, but it's still better than leaving the issues to your players/customers and tell them "Oh yea, you better be careful by yourself, cause there's nothing you can do to prevent that." And I think there're more solutions than what I mention above.

Wait, this is allowed? Isn't this essentially gold selling?

Yep it is, and yep it is. It's ZOS allowed, but not actually supported in any documented way, gold selling though.

SO LOL Too Bad if you get ripped off. (sarcasm. it actually really sucks!)

I ONLY EVER trade for crowns with people in my Trading Guild (I check their ranking to see they aren't some leech first). Alternatively, there are discord brokerages available which make the deal smoother.

Get guilds involved. Escrow service; you have gold and want something from the crown store. Someone has crowns and wants gold. 3rd party like the gm matches buyer and seller, you send to to the gm who holds the gold until the seller notifies the gift has arrived and been accepted. GM then passes on the gold.

but if someone killed you they’d also get your stuff...

Courage and honor have no actual meaning when the design of the game forbids all alternatives.

Generally, that sort of system allows for some interesting gameplay - player culture, alliances, revenge, etc. - but causes a lot
more harm than good, ruining a lot more fun in the game than it makes.

Eventually for every player who has a good experience, it seems like that dozens of players will just get screwed by 'griefers' who prepare to kill others and take things for every one player who has enjoyment from the system.

Probably my worst gaming experience in gaming since games were invented (we're talking before Pong) was when I stumbled into an online game where you build a base that could be destroyed by players 24x7 and was pay to win.

When I'd put hours/days into building a base, I'd find I couldn't stand to go offline with it vulnerable so I couldn't sleep and would be up late at night worriedly monitoring it. If I had to leave the screen it was stressful.

It was basically sort of tortuous and pointless when groups who spent hundreds could wipe everyone out.

I hate to say how long I dealt with that before sensibly no longer playing. It's hard to get the balance right when you try to introduce 'higher consequence' gameplay.

Everquest used to have a system that built community where people needed to ask others, often strangers, for help to recover their bodies with their belongings when they got killed deep in a dungeon.

There was a '/consent' command that let the player drag your body out to you so you could loot it. But it also helpfully let the player you gave consent to drag your body, to loot your body and take your things.

That created 'interesting drama' around a culture of trust, and community pressure to either punish thieves - or not - but led
to a lot of negative experiences for players, so finally the loot option was cancelled, and recovery made easier.

It was a balancing act, where some benefits to more consequences were weighed against harm that turned out to greatly outweigh those benefits, and so the risks were removed. Of course some prefer them, but most don't.

Sorry to go off-topic, but I find it an interesting issue that got brought up. The OP's issue isn't really that, it's simply having a competent system and customer support policy, and I hope he's reimbursed and the thief punished.

But this isn't so much about the response to his incident as the need for a reliable system for everyone including the game maker to be able to make the system for these trades easy and reliable to verify what happened.

If that's not the case - as I see comments about 'they can't verify what happened' as come of the trades are commonly done - they should do better at it. If they need in-game communications used, they should make that clear to players.

'Consequences' aren't easy. Imagine a game where players could bet real money on matches - seems exciting until players get frustrated at losing money and blame the game design.

Just this week I saw a player in zone chat in ESO saying he was quitting the game and giving his things away in rage over feeling PvP was not balanced - and that's without 'higher consequences'. It's not easy to design.

You know the game that does it?

Poker. And ask Wild Bill Hickock how problem-free Poker is.

I successfully traded gold for crates a few times. Never had any issues.

Of course the first time someone asks for half up front, I do this. They then drop off line and block me.

I’m not too mad. I knew the risks involved and have had other successful transactions before.

I have a video and also screen shots of the deal.

How can I best report this, and, how can I get a resolution. I don’t want them to keep the gold is my main wish.

    I paid 250k, half of 500k for 15 crates.

    Xbox NA

    Thanks for any advice.

Edit to say I wish if zos was going to allow gold for crown trades they would offer a secure way to do so.

simple solution: dont buy crown crates from players...or better yet, dont buy them at all.
