Hmm...there's a wealth of names in the scientific names given to owls, and the different breeds.
Micrathene - from Micarathene Whitneyi, the species name for the Elf Owl.
Strigidea - the family name for all owls, except Barn Owls.
Tytonidae - the family name for Barn Owls.
Strigiformes - the scientific order to which owls belong.
Aegolius - genus of a type of screech owl.
Small selection from five minutes surfing. Type 'Owl' into wiki, and go nuts. You'll find a name in no time.

Now, a not-owl-race that is "owl dude" because... I dunno, owl shaman or something on the other hand... possibly even turned owl-ish through a bargain with Clavicus Vile... that is something which qould quite fit!
But then of course the name would be dependent on the origin race...
Personally I might go with "Bubo" because...
...but that's me.
