Maelstrom, Master, and Asylum weapons compared to Blackrose weapons.

The maelstrom, master, and asylum weapons all do not have an extra set piece bonus in comparison to the blackrose weapons. I am not sure if Zeni had a specific reason for this, but it kind of makes them a less viable option in comparison. While some weapons will still be more viable despite not having the extra set piece it makes evenly good weapons unbalanced. If I saw the aslyum 2h set bonus to be just a bit better than the blackrose 2h I would still pick the blackrose 2h simply because it gets the extra set piece. Not sure if I was the only person triggered by this or not. Should the old maelstrom, master, and asylum weapons also be given set bonuses to put them on the same level as blackrose weapons? Or did ZoS have a reason for giving blackrose weapons an extra set piece bonus?

Those other weapons aren’t in the base game either, y’know ... except for the vDSA ones. ;)

Even if ZOS buffs those weapons to give them a 2-piece bonus, my guess is it’ll be well after the Murkmire hype has gone down.

See, the thing is that those older weapons, master and maelstrom at least, used to have extra stats.

You have to convince Zeni to revert a nerf, if you want them back. Good luck!

ZOS already explained why they are dragging their feet on this issue. It's not just about the extra set bonus, it's about changing ALL the weapon sets to have Perfect and Imperfect versions and then adjusting the trial/dungeon content to accommodate these versions. This is going to take some developer resources, so they are putting it off until a future update.

The extra traits that were with the Master and Maelstrom weapons were removed when they made them actual sets, not enchantments. However, it was only with Asylum Sanctorium that they started with the vet/HM and normal differences with the skill-altering weapons. Master and Maelstrom weapons predate that idea. However, each weapon has its use. Take the destruction staves. The perfected Blackrose inferno staff may have a spell penetration bonus, but it only works if I have a build that works around Impulse/Elemental Ring/Pulsar. In pvp, it can work if you focus more on aoe, but in pve, it's only really good for trash mobs. The Master inferno staff is a staple for many pvpers as it buffs both sustain and damage of Destructive touch. The AS and Maelstrom staves both have their uses as well. The Maelstrom fire/lightning staves are used by magicka dps to buff their light attacks, which makes a huge chunk of their dps. AS staves are used in both pvp and pve by builds who use force pulse or crushing shock, mainly them being sorcs. People won't choose the Blackrose weapons over the others purely for the spell pen.
I do hope they update the older sets though. Having those extra bonuses would just help in general.

@Emma_Overload , they actually weren't as clear on that, they just made a vague statement (conveyed through @Masel I believe) that '...it would require dungeon work' or something like that, but they weren't asked to introduce imperfect versions, because what we have now is essentially the perfect ones. Nobody prevents them from returning bonuses and then, at some point, creating imperfect versions for normal arena.
