Below minimum: CPU G3258 (yep, dual core), 8 GB RAM, GPU GTX 960, 2 GB RAM.

High settings. Very rarely have any FPS issues. And I run a lot of addons everywhere I go except Cyro and vMA.

You could never adequately run all of the content in this game on the minimum specs. They are shooting for a target audience that can at least log on...

First, this is an old game. Development started on this game about 10 years ago.

Second, self-professed "gamers" tend to be wildly out of touch with what people actually use for PC gaming. There are a lot of people who run below the "minimum" spec. Follow the "gaming" media, and you come away with the impression that nobody runs hardware over 3 years old. That's nonsense. Especially with the stagnation of Moore's Law in the last half decade, the performance difference between a system from 7 years ago and today isn't nearly as high as what it would've been a decade ago.

I have ESO installed on 6 computers. Ranging from my main system (Ivy Bridge i5, RX 570, plays just fine at max settings on 1080p), to an older system (Sandy Bridge i5, Radeon 6670, plays just fine at medium settings on 1080p), to my netbook. Yes, a netbook, with a 1.5GHz Ivy Bridge Celeron running integrated CPU graphics. Gets about 10fps with low settings at 768p--not playable, but just fine for logging in to get hirelings and train mounts.

    Salty much?

"I exceed minimum spec by a long way"

I purpose built my PC for gaming, ESO is just one of many, many games on that box, so ZOS's min. specs had no influence on the build what-so-ever.

I build a new gaming PC from scratch every 2 years or so by buying all the best components i can afford and putting them together.

My current one was build last x-mas after the power supply on my previous one failed. That was right at the 2 year mark, so it was time for a new one anyways.

My previous gaming PC is now the streaming PC in the bedroom (No TV in my house) and even though that one is 3+ years old it's still way above the min specs for ESO as well.

In fact, my girlfriend uses it to play ESO ...

I got my current PC from CyberPower about a week before ESO's launch. It was due earlier than that when ordered but once assembled the date suddenly jumped two weeks. It's served me well over the past 4 3/4 years but has given some signs of problems. Like it has to lie on its side or the bottom fan rattles horribly, and I had to replace the battery on the motherboard since my ups was failing and kept shutting the whole thing down and causing me to system reboot. I keep file backups, irregularly, and get pretty good performance on high settings. Even so I feel like it's time for a new one, as I buy a really good computer with the intent of having it last 4 years or so.

So I've ordered a new one to be built by CyberPower, not -quite- the fanciest video card (didn't go Ti), no more RAM than I have already, no streaming recording card since I don't video record stuff, but plenty of bells and whistles that should future proof me for another four years. It is due to ship in a week. Eeeee! Not excited to freshly load ESO yet that seems the best way to make sure I get a clean install into which I can copy my addon files and client side customizations like keybinds.

I should really get new monitors one day. Coasting along on some that are 7 years old or so, decent resolution but hardly 4K. If I have that kind of spare money, though, I'd rather get a tablet that can play ESO Blades once that comes out as mine is not compatible.

I went a little more than a little overboard building my PC last year.

But while traveling I play on a laptop with windows 7, an i5 and a gtx 970m. It’s prone to overheating and dropping frame rate during heavy use, but handles eso just fine.

My rig is 8 years old, and I only updated the graphic card since I bought it: Athlon II X4 640 processor (it's currently below the minimum), 8 GB RAM, Geforce 750GTX. I play on medium/high graphics, and I'm using many, many addons (although I switched off the ones with big databases like HarvestMap).

I am far from top end, and even though I haven't upgraded my system in too long, I still exceed minimum spec by a long way.

    i5-2500K, 8G RAM
NVidia GTX 960 (this thing was a great buy years ago, it's still a freakin' workhorse)

So, yes, I could certainly use an upgrade, but I've been able to play anything I've wanted to at relatively High settings (not Ultra, but I'm OK with that). Hoping to upgrade ye olde Frankenputer sometime next year, but it'll carry me until that happens.

Well I upgraded to a custom built gaming rig back in April, that utterly dominates any game out now or past, but now is a good ish time to upgrade, bitcoin mining is pretty much dead in the water, and new cpu/gpus out.

So gather your `gold` and build your own rig soon :)

    Missing an answer in between.
My PC is not exactly good but it's not that bad either I guess.

    i7 2630
    6 GB ram
    AMD HD 6650
It's an 8 years old laptop that I bought for photoshop and video editing before I started gaming. It starts to get really slow, has some random issues time and again and crashes once a month but I can live with that. Besides I don't have the money to repair, upgrade or buy a new one anyway.
I usually play with 15 FPS, probably should turn the graphics down but nah. Works well enough for me. Actually I have surprisingly few issues ingame. All these endless loading screens, memory leaks, high pings and whatnot people complain about don't seem to happen on my end.

OP does seem a little out of touch. Zos has upgraded the minimum specs for the game at least twice since launch. In both cases there were players who could no longer play the game.

I have listed the most up to date recommendations from Zos @ 5/2/17

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/26031

This is not an e-peen whos got the best PC thread, i am genuinely interested in how many 'casual' ,if you like, gamers play and if my assumptions that the min specs cater for a tiny portion of the player base are totally wrong.

And yes, i do realise that the forum in itself is only a small percentage of the playerbase.

I know exactly what you posted but maybe I was not clear.

You are very incorrect that in-game performance caters to the minimum recommended system. Whomever told you that is the case is grossly mistaken and probably has little understanding of what they are speaking of. The minimum specs is just for being able to play this game and one would logically expect that is on the most basic settings.

That deals with your first sentence and what seems to be the basis of your statement. So the premise is false which was the point of my post.

My point of mentioning Zos updating the minimum requirements is many people were running the game at those minimum settings and when they were adjusted those people were pushed out. Clearly it is not likely these were a majority of the players as this was a business decision in the end.

In what you quoted there is nothing that person was complaining about. Certainly not salty.

They merely stated some factual information. And of course that the OP in this thread is not very important.

Of course the person you quoted seems to be a little obsessed with how many PCs they have the game on, but it does provide the spectrum of what this game can run on.

I don't have a high performing rig. Just a decent one. i5 3.8ghz, 32g ram, nvidia 1060, decent motherboard to support that age CPU.

Not sure if that qualifies for the "by a long shot" column or the "barely exceeds" column. it may benefit to split that long shot option into "comfortably exceeds" and "high end gaming rig". There's a big difference between my gear and the min req's, but there's also a big difference between my gear and a high end setup.

Not a huge deal, but worth considering.

Its interesting and an bit sad. I might want to rename my pc "old gods", its an ancient 6 core i7 4930 @4GZ because of water cooling. System is +4 year old, yes upgraded graphic current is 980ti, added a lots of ssd and some ram but rig is still good, run circles around the i7 I have in the office and I was the one ordering them two years ago.
Note that this is back then i7 was server setup for consumers and you feel it.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

My main rig? I7-8700k, 1080TI.. you get the idea.

I have a laptop I travel with - that I'm pretty sure does *not* meet minimum spec in any way. Pretty sure it's 10 or more years old and barely runs (the laptop itself I mean) but I can use it to do writs when I travel - so it works.

I just went to 0 fps with a 5 year old rig(counting back from right now) in cyro, roe all alliance vs all fight. That was the time i decided to get better rig and that was year ago already. So i really doubt, with a 9 year old gfx, without OC you can barely stand still in anywhere tamriel without getting a crash.

My "best" PC is mid range for today, but was very high when it came out in 2015. Can I justify buying a new PC just for a game? Nope and nope. I could theoretically rebuild the innards with better components but I would need technical help because that's not in my skill set. Runs a little hot but plays on high settings with consistent 60fps so it's not a potato by any measure.

However, I did just install the game on a stock hardware HP mini PC from 2014 (aka Intel integrated graphics) for the free trial week. It had to go on low graphics and load screens took an age, but the game runs. Choppily, I admit, but I only want it so I can email bounce treasure maps when I need to. So there's a place for low graphics.
