I think you are making sweeping statements that don't apply to all players.

Personally i don't think dishing out free stuff all the time is an answer. Take the motif event earlier in the year, crazy good drop rate, people started doing Writs on all 12 toons etc. But by the end most talked about 'burnout' and took a break.

I love the events, however i think peoples approach to them is strange, this 100% effort to max out on freebies. To the point they stop playing other aspects of the game.

Personally i think they just need to make the game better. Kill the bugs, issues. And make content people love to play, not content people play because they get something shiny.

Events i do e joy are those that bring players into quieter Areas such as Imperial City / MyM

Personally i didn't do the pathfinder thing, still got the manor, haven't been there.

And lastly - entitlement. We didn't have events at the start and folks were fine, then they started and folks got extra stuff for doing content they were already doing. Everyone was happy. Now a few cycles in folks moan about the free stuff. It's a funny old world.

So, your point is give me more and better stuff.

I agree the Witches Festival was successful because it was accessible by more players (who were often engaged in activities they would have been doing anyway).

But I'll suggest the reason most people engage in MMORPGs is for the challenge of surmounting a continuum of engaging obstacles (exclusive of game malfunctions) and receiving meaningful, appropriate rewards.

People may love the devil out of freebees and easily won prizes, but if that's all there is they won't stay.

They really just need to add a "delete" option for posters.
