The Witch Festival is still the best of the 2018 end-of-year events, so far...

After the Witches Festival, I was looking forward to the next three events because I had so much fun. But so far it seems that the first of the four "feather" events remains the best to me.

During Witches Festival, we got:
  • Literally double xp gain for about two weeks.
  • Activities and rewards for everyone. Delves, WBs, public dungeons, group dungeons, trials, arenas...you can just do anything to get a ticket, and the motif drops urge more ppl to try trials and arenas.
  • Funny masks and mementos to collect.
  • Lots of baits for anglers!! :D

Then came the CWC event and we got:
  • Double resource in CWC, but it is nearly meaningless to me because I already had trouble finding a node that was untouched during the Wrothgar event, and Wrothgar is several times larger than CWC.
  • Double rewards for dailies, which only have a CHANCE to drop valuable motifs and all others are useless vendor gears. But it does offer a good chance for new players to clear WBs I guess.

And now the Undaunted event. Tbh I looked forward to it mostly, but it turns out now to be just a showcase how bad the group finder can be. I, as a tank and with a healer friend, still have trouble queuing dungeons from time to time. I really feel bad for dps folks who have to sit in a queue for half an hour and then stuck in the "Someone declined" loops. The event itself does encourages new players to try dungeons, and the mysterious box is nice, but I just don't understand of all the things in the game why tie the box to a broken random group finder?

Let's hope for the best of New Life Festival... :|

New life shouldn't have a problem. If I remember correctly, you get rewards from any daily done. Crafting writs were the best for this, imo.

I could be completely wrong with the event, lmao.

I think you're thinking of the anniversary event.

New Life has different festivities to participate in for each of the races (except Imperials because apparently they don't celebrate New Life -_-), like dancing in Stonefalls and the signal fire race in Bergama. And don't forget the Snow Bear Plunge in Windhelm! It's actually kind of fun (though gets to be a bit much if you have a lot of alts).

My healer's had great fun helping younger players in her small guild get tix from running some of the easier normal dungeons. She's even helped some strangers do the same.

When I reviewed the event I assessed the 'kill any dungeon final boss for 3 tix' portion as good fun - and it has been.

I wrote off the mystery box portion since I will not go into any dungeon when I don't know exactly which dungeon it is and know that I am ready for it. Yes I know about the trick of random arrive then port to a desired dungeon but that is rife with potential for misunderstandings and drama unless you have a preformed group that decides to do that in advance. I'm not complaining about the requirement to do randoms for the mystery boxes, simply sitting that part out as not my goblet of Tamikas.

So I've been pretty much untouched by any dungeon finder problems but feel sorry for those that have run into problems using it.

New Life festival is funniest of all:) even if quests are actually very quick and you don't need to interact with other players like dring Witch Festival it's great entertainment. And as mentioned above Snow Bear Plunge is just hilarious😂 don't forget your nord bath towel.

Yup. I had a lot of fun with Witches Festival.

I gave the CWC event a few chances, but I stopped short of even earning one ticket; too many people in too small an area.
Low-level characters (which is all I have at this point) didn't stand a chance at getting enough damage in at WBs before they were gone.
And, while I had had access to CWC for a couple of months prior to the event, I'd abandoned the main CWC quest out of boredom (I got frustrated with that one quest where you had to maneuver the valves in the correct order without blowing any of them, and every combo I tried didn't work, and I didn't feel like googling the solution) before I had unlocked any of the daily quests, so that wasn't an option for me.
No big; it's my least favorite area so far. (I like the Dark Elves as a people, but I'm not really into steampunk.)

And for a mostly-solo player who has no experience with playing a combat role as part of a group, Undaunted sounds like a nightmare so far, with all of the problems with the dungeon finder, and I don't feel strong enough with any of my characters, yet, to wander into a dungeon.
With people already on-edge because of the problems, and the tension over competing for limited goodies, I'd just irritate other players in my efforts to learn the ropes. Maybe by this time next year I'll feel more comfortable taking part in this type of event, but not now.

I'm looking forward to the New Life event, but I've already noped-out of the quest to earn an Indrik mount.
I have the one feather (and five left-over tickets) from Witches Festival, and the one feather will probably just take up space in my storage until the end of days, or I decide to destroy it (since I don't think you can trade the feathers.)

I think the events are good, there is usually larger player participation. I prefer events that I am able to run out with a lot of gold from.

Such as events that provide me with more motifs, etc.

New Life is my favourite because it actually has unique festival activities. Extra rewards from the same stuff we do all the rest of the year isn't really a festival to me.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the Undaunted event. Doing it on my level 21-24 (gone up through the event) healer means I've mainly been grouped with other low level characters so we've all been doing it together instead of someone speeding off and getting angry we've not memorised each fight yet. But I haven't felt particularly compelled to do more than one dungeon a day.

Its probably better that the Imperials are left out. What type of events could they really come up with?
Remove armor and weapons and dance suggestively in front of enemy gates for at least 2 minutes?
Or find a group of enemy and challenge them to a race to Alessia bridge. If you manage to make it there, you complete the quest by taking the lunatic plunge off the bridge?
I believe that right now, Imperials just dont fit into New Life event because everyday they have their own New Death festivities there. But yes, other race events are fun (at least for first few times) :)

Speaking of which, is the command/emote for seductive dancing a Crown Store thing?

A couple of days ago there were a couple of people running around Windhelm in their underwear, pick-pocketing the NPCs and running from the guards, but occasionally stopping to dance seductively in front of other players.
All I could find in my "repertoire" was "/dance" which results in that clappy-jumpy dance thing you see some of the Nord NPCs doing.

I take it your character is a Nord and not a Redguard. Next time try / danceredguard . The male one is pretty funny. You can do a different dance for each race by adding the name of race to ' / dance' with no spaces. If you just type / dance you will only get the dance for your race.

I agree with you since these events started. Witches is the best. New life is the one I really hate, a bunch of tedious and boring quests that do nothing but waste your time.

New Life is fun initially, but then after a while, the quests do get a bit monotonous, especially if you do them on multiple characters. The good thing though is that they are mostly pretty quick, the achievements are mostly easy with the exception of a couple which are mildly difficult until you get the routines down, and they are quick and easy XP especially with the double XP buff. Getting the motif parts shouldn't take too much time, but a couple of the recipes are more rare than the others, and might take a little while to drop.

Last year, the 2nd festival wasn't as fun because there weren't a lot of changes from the first year, but they did change the XP buff trigger from the pavilion to a mobile mead mug. The first year was a total cluster, because everybody in the game had to come to the same single spot in Eastmarch every 2 hours.

This year, they've added a new category of Charity Writs. At least it's different, but we'll see what becomes of that. I am looking forward to it tho, and also, the event tickets will reset with the dailies like CwC, which was the cleanest of the event ticket methods so far.

As a former solo player, I strongly suggest that you give group dungeons a try. I was a crazy Skyrim fan before I joined ESO, and I planned to solo ESO at first. But then I was lucky to find a friendly guild, which helped me a lot through dungeons, leveling up, skill choices etc. Playing group dungeons help you understand the game much better, and after you can manage your role in dungeons, all other overland contents in the game are a walk in the park.
But I agree that now may not be a good time cuz people are already frustrated with the GF tool and want to rush through dungeons without patience for new players. The best start for dungeons is to find a nice guild to help you.

I really enjoyed the Witch event. First event I ever played, so brand new to it. Some of it wasn't simple for me, but picking a delve (Divad's Chagrin, already knew it really well, don't ask) worked a treat.

I also enjoyed the CWC event, picked a delve (Shadow Cleft), ran it every day again, worked just great. From those, I got two feathers, plus enough tickets to get the third feather soon as Undaunted event popped.

Not into that event. Don't do group content, my lag is horrible, I'm not going to scab off people who can really play - 2000 ms ping is no laughing matter, and I'm not going to foist myself onto groups. That's okay, I still got the third feather.

I've got a lot of interest in New Life. I hope it's not focused on grouping. I already bought the Snow Globe home - such a NEAT idea!

I did just very recently join a guild [Lone Wolf Help], intending that to be only the first crack in my "Strictly-Solo" shell; I do plan to progress along my newly-chosen path even further, over time.
I will jump in to group content, but I will probably wait until the current event frenzy has calmed-down before I inflict myself upon a group.
