Hello everyone, welcome to my first of many concepts for new classes, new skill lines, and skill line improvements. If I may ask, please refrain from commenting about how the current classes need to be balanced before we add anymore. I have the same mindset, but since I have been toying with these ideas for the better part of 2 years I thought I might share them.
This section is about the Stargazer Class, my thinking behind it, and the ideas I wanted to explore with it as a class.
Craglorn came out as a part of Update 1, releasing both The Mage and The Warrior as characters (and bosses). When Upper Craglorn was released with Update 4, The Serpent came into play and completed the trifecta of Craglorn Trial Bosses. I have always thought that the abilities Craglorn Trial Monsters and Bosses could use were really cool, and so I have compiled them into a class, styled after the other classes, giving them the tools they need to be an effective Tank, Healer, Magicka DPS, or Stamina DPS, as well as providing buffs for both Group PVE and PVP. At the core, this class takes the beloved (or hated) mechanics from Craglorn Trials and gives them their place on our skillbars. I have not given them numbers for their damage or their costs. Only damage types, ranges, radius, and durations.
Skill Tree #1: Warrior's Blood
Ultimate: Warrior's Call (250 Ultimate): Instant Cast; Self Cast; 10 second duration.
- Base Skill: Embrace your Ra Gada heritage, becoming a warrior of Air and Sand, reducing your damage taken from Direct Damage sources by 50% for 10 seconds.
- Morph #1: Warrior's Rage: You also gain Major Force for the duration.
- Morph #2: Warrior's Discipline: Reduces the Ultimate cost to 215 and increases the duration to 15 seconds.
Active Skills:
Active Skill #1: Channeled Strikes: 1 Second Channel Duration; Single Target.
- Base Skill: Focus your rage on a single target, striking them 4 times over 1 second for Magic Damage. The final hit deals 200% increased damage.
- Morph #1: Channeled Echos: Strike the target a 5th time, converts to Physical Damage, and now costs Stamina.
- Morph #2: Channeled Fury: The final hit grants a stack of Fury if Ancient Rage is active.
Active Skill #2: Ancient Rage: Instant Cast; Self Cast; 20 second duration.
- Base Skill: The Warrior controls your actions, causing your light and heavy attacks to grant you a stack of Fury. Every 5th stack of Fury you gain causes a fragment of Yokeda's Light to fall on your opponent, dealing Physical or Magic damage based on your Maximum Magicka or Maximum Stamina, whichever is higher. When The Warrior releases his grip on you, you explode for Physical or Magic damage, increasing with every 5 stacks of Fury, capping at 25 stacks.
- Morph #1: Resounding Rage: When you gain Fury, there is a 15% chance you will gain an additional stack of Fury.
- Morph #2: Hour of Desolation: You gain Empower every 5th stack of Fury.
Active Skill #3: Defensive Guard: Instant Cast; Self Cast; 15 second duration.
- Base Skill: Invoke Ra Gada battle rites, granting you Major Resolve and Major Ward.
- Morph #1: Furious Guard: Taking Direct Critical Damage grants you a stack of Fury every 1 second.
- Morph #2: Protector's Duty: Allies within 10m of you gain Minor Resolve and Minor Ward.
Active Skill #4: Mountain's Charge: Instant Cast; Single Target; 28m range; 5m radius.
- Base Skill: Leap to a target, dealing Magic Damage to enemies around the initial target.
- Morph #1: Shehai Leap: Targets are knocked down.
- Morph #2: Molten Impact: Increases the radius to 10m and you send out a wave of fire that deals Fire Damage over 5 seconds upon impact.
Active Skill #5: Shield Throw: Instant Cast; 15m range; 3m radius.
- Base Skill: Throw a celestial shield with the warriors strength, dealing Magic Damage and knocking down any target in its path.
- Morph #1: Razor Shield: The shield shreds armor, applying Major Fracture and Major Breach for 20 seconds.
- Morph #2: Trapping Shield: The shield traps enemies that it hits, rooting them in place for 4 seconds.
Passive Skills:
- Defending Warrior: Reduces damage taken when blocking by 3/6%.
- Eternal Warrior: Increases your damage done with Starfall by 9/18%.
- Berserking Warrior: When you deal damage with Stargazer ability, you have 5/10% chance to cause the target to take 10/20% extra damage the next time they are damaged by that ability.
- Stone Skin: Increases your physical resistance by 1320/3300.
Skill Tree #2: Mage's Reflection
Ultimate: Celestial Boon: (175 Ultimate) Instant Cast, 28m radius, 20 second duration.
- Base Skill: The Mage shields you and your allies from harm, summoning spheres of elder magics to protect them from harm and knit their wounds.
- Morph #1: Alchemical Chaos: Allies gain Major Vitality and have the healing increased while the shield holds.
- Morph #2: Ichor: Allies gain Major Protection while the shield holds.
Active Skills:
Active Skill #1: Unstable Void: Instant Cast; 28m range; 8m radius.
- Base Skill: Call forth a pool of star energy, dealing Magic Damage to enemies who stand inside of it. An ally inside of the pool may activate the Oblivion Void synergy, dealing additional Magic Damage to the closest target.
- Morph #1: Essence Pool: Instead of damaging enemies, the pool instead heals allies. An ally inside of the pool may activate the Primal Magic synergy, healing themselves and one additional ally outside of the pools range.
- Morph #2: Uncontrolled Darkness: Enemies are affected by Minor Lifesteal, Minor Magickasteal, and Minor Staminasteal while in the pool.
Active Skill #2: Nullify: Instant Cast; 20m range.
- Base Skill: Heal yourself or another ally. If you would heal more than 25% of the targets health, they gain Minor Endurance for 10 seconds.
- Morph #1: Revival: Hits a second target. Reduces the magicka cost.
- Morph #2: Infusion: Targets who are healed gain Minor Vitality for 5 seconds.
Active Skill #3: Chain Lightning: Instant Cast; 28m range; 15m radius.
- Base Skill: Electrocute an enemy, dealing Shock Damage. The bolt jumps to the nearest enemy within 15m twice, dealing increased damage with each jump.
- Morph #1: Thundercrack: The bolt jumps two additional times for a total of 5 hits and has the jump distanced increased to a maximum of 20m.
- Morph #2: Regenerating Plasma: Heal allies instead of damaging enemies. The bolt jumps to the farthest person away within 15m twice, leaving a trail of healing magic in its wake each time.
Active Skill #4: Descending Light: 3 second channel; 28m range.
- Base Skill: Target an ally and channel primal energy, healing them over 3 seconds.
- Morph #1: Celestial Light: The final tick also heals allies within 5m.
- Morph #2: Bright Light: Restores magicka and stamina the target when the effect ends
Active Skill #5: Reflection: Instant Cast; 28m range; 20m radius; 20 second duration.
- Base Skill: Summon a shade of yourself at a target location. The shade saps the essence of a nearby enemy. If the original target dies, a new target will be chosen.
- Morph #1: Bursting Reflection: Letting the reflection expire or casting the reflection again before the duration is over will cause it to explode with volatile magic, applying minor maim to all enemies within 7m for 15 seconds.
- Morph #2: Melding Magic: The reflection now heals an ally for a portion of the essence sapped.
Passive Skills:
- Healing Mage: Increases healing done by 2/4% for every Mage's Reflection skill slotted.
- Destructive Mage: When dealing damage with a Stargazer ability: You have a 5/10% chance to deal 10% of that abilities damage to a nearby enemy.
- Wise Mage: Increases Spell Critical rating for each Mage's Reflection ability slotted.
- Enlightened Mastery: Gain 1/2% Stamina and Magicka Recovery for each Stargazer ability slotted.
Skill Tree #3: Serpent's Whispers
Ultimate: Toxin Explosion (250 Ultimate): Instant Cast; 10 second duration.
- Base Skill: The Serpent infuses your weapons with ancient venom, causing your light and heavy attacks to apply a stacking infection which deals Poison Damage every 1 second for 5 seconds.
- Morph #1: Concentrated Poison: The poison deals all of its damage in one hit instead of over 5 seconds. The damage remains unchanged.
- Morph #2: Vengeful Serpent: Increases the duration of the poison to 10 seconds and it increases in power based on how many stacks are applied.
Active Skills:
Active Skill #1: Serpent Fang: Instant Cast; 7m range.
- Base Skill: Strike a target with a broken fang, dealing Magic Damage.
- Morph #1: Venomous Fangs: Poison the fang, turning its damage to Poison Damage and converting it to cost Stamina. Every second use of this skill will apply the Poisoned status effect.
- Morph #2: Long Fang: Reduces the Magicka cost and increases the range to 28m.
Active Skill #2: Lamia Scale: Instant Cast; Self Target; 6 second duration.
- Base Skill: Embrace the form of the Lamia and use your scales to reflect the next 3 projectiles cast on you.
- Morph #1: Dominator's Scale: Reflect an additional projectile. The reflected projectiles cannot be blocked or dodged.
- Morph #2: Curia's Scale: You are healed when you reflect a projectile.
Active Skill #3: Shed Skin: Instant Cast; Self Target.
- Base Skill: Shed your skin, removing up to two negative effects from yourself.
- Morph #1: Molt: Gain Minor Expedition for 5 seconds and Immunity to snares for 3 seconds.
- Morph #2: Ecdysis: Removes up to 4 negative effects. A nearby ally may activate the Cure synergy to cleanse themselves of all negative effects.
Active Skill #4: Spreading Sickness: Instant Cast; 20m range; 5m radius; 5 second duration.
- Base Skill: Throw a vial of noxious air at a target, causing them to take Magic Damage for 5 seconds. Enemies that come close to the initial target may spread the sickness to them. Enemies cannot have the sickness spread to them for 2 seconds after the effect ends, but may have it cast on them.
- Morph #1: Troll's Blood: Converts to Poison Damage, costs Stamina, and increases the duration to 8 seconds.
- Morph #2: Epidemic: Increases the damage and the spreading radius by 5m.
Active Skill #5: Blood Conjure: 1.5 second cast time.
- Base Skill: Summon a Lesser Mantikora to fight with you. Its basic attacks deal Magic Damage and its heavy attack knocks its target down.
- Morph #1: Enraged Mantikora: Activate the ability again to cause the Mantikora to stomp, causing all enemies within 15m of the Mantikora to bleed for Physical Damage for 8 seconds.
- Morph #2: Venom Shard: Actgive the ability again to cause the Mantikora to throw its spear at your target location, stunning any enemy within 5m of the impact zone for 2 seconds. An ally may activate the Venom Shard synergy to cause a poison explosion and restoring Stamina or Magicka, whichever pool is larger. This synergy shares a cooldown with Spear Shards and Combustion.
Passive Skills:
- Quick Serpent: After taking more than 50/25% of your max healing in a single blow, you are granted Major Expedition for 3/6 seconds.
- Venomous Serpent: Increases your damage done with Poison and Magic damage by 3/6%
- Fanged Serpent: Dealing damage with an Ophidian's Whisper skill grants nearby allies Minor Piercing, increasing their Physical Penetration by 1440 for 5/10 seconds. (This is the same as Minor Fracture, but it is a buff instead of a debuff)
- Worldshaper: Reduces the cost of your Stamina and Magicka abilities by 3/5%.
