Why aren't "Transmutation Geodes" bankable?

Rizz_the_Filthy_Dino
Topic. They just stack in your inventory man, I have maxed my Transmutation Crystals at 200 with ESO plus, and don't really want to use them just to make more room in my inventory. Is there any plan to ever have them bankable to use later so they don't start stacking in your inventory?

Jeez.. Yeah, I don't need to use mine, either.
Stupid idea, but you could always just transmute something; I seriously doubt even all that = 50 crystals.
Or you could not do my stupideqse idea and just... hold onto them?
if I could make another character, their name would be Cries-For-Character-Slots. AKA, I need more.

Because ZOS wants you to use them as a last resort to get the item you were grinding for in the right trait, not to stack them up in your bank and be able to transmute new sets the day they come out. You can still do that, but you have to sacrifice the bag space to do it.

Personally, I have my stash of PVP end of campaign reward crystals, and anything new I use to transmute weapons to nirnhoned and decone them for the chance at potent nirncrux to sell.

Not sure. Runeboxes aren't bankable either. I have a couple I want to hold on to but i'm stuck with them in my inventory.

I wondering the same. It's very basic and they should be bankable.

Containers in general aren't designed to be banked, and the ones with variable contents probably can't be stacked as those contents and the IDs associated with them are determined when they're awarded and not when you open them.

the ones sent by mail can be taken by an alt
    storage alt.

They put a limit cap of 200 crystals then allow you to bypass the cap by keeping the geodes in your inventory. So basically there is no cap, but it becomes an inventory management issue. I'd say it's a very poor design choice. If they want us to have limited supply, why allow you to hold onto the geodes? If they don't mind the huge supply, why have the cap to begin with? It confuses me how it could make any sense to a designer to do it this way, but here we are.

Transmutation geodes aren't bankable because it would be too sensible to allow. That's the only reason I've come up with so far.

its a pretty simple reason to be fair. When new content drops with new sets, a percentage of the time that is allocated to your presumed login time is collecting new gear with the traits you want for whatever the new set does.

If you run with a group of 4 people and you only are after 1 particular set, chances are quite high you can get 5 random pieces of that set in exactly 1 run of whatever it is thats new.

Those 5 sets in off traits would require 250 stones to transmute and if you are not an achievement/skin/motif/plan hunter, you never go in that dungeon again.

Artifically increasing the difficulty of keeping enough stones to transmute multiple sets brings the amount of people willing to do that to a much more managable level, who then can be written off as outliers and presumptions and predictions can then be made about % player clear time, or whatever metric they want to measure in relation to the new content.

There isn't enough new content to keep you "legitimately" logged in for the amount of hours needed for statisically relevent data so they make these progression roadblocks to keep you logged in longer to get more data about what you do.

It's not bad or good really, its just a clever way to keep you on the treadmill a bit longer than if they just let you 1bang the new gear and be done.

Everyone already has given you the workarounds for this, play the mule game
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Yeah for sure it does, they make it painful and annoying to hold onto something that would allow you to skip the repetitive behavior they need to categorize you as a player.

They want you to PvP. In Cyrodiil you get them like candy.

The question rather is why i cant have more then 200 in my inventory ? Most probably because they reserved just one byte for it.

Any item that is the same should be stackable.

Why can I pickup an item, put it in my inventory, but for some strange reason I can't put it in a box or bank?

Is it too big for the bank, but yet it fits in my pocket or pack? What sense does that make, nonsense is what sense.

It's designed to clog your inventory, furthering the need for ESO+ via Craft Bag and 2x Bank Space, because without those, the inconvenience is even worse.

While we're at it, I'd also like to know why aren't Runeboxes bankable. If I want to move them to a mule I'm forced to email them to someone and have them return it, because I can't even perform simple inventory management with them.

The fact that they can be placed in a Guild Bank, but not in a standard bank makes it even more asinine yet.

You don't actually use a trait stone when you transmute, so if you do get one it's basically free (or, at the cost of 50 crystals some people are just trashing anyway).

Then let me store a single stack of 200.
