I have only three things to say.
1) Looks like I was right, free crates are being dialed down.
2) Three years in a row I've been eyeing those New Life caps, and three years in a row I ended up saying "Naw. They are of a limited use - and they will probably dye poorly, anyway." Looks like I'll be getting them anyway this year, so thanks! (Although we can expect some disappointment from people who actually bought them).
3) Most importantly, though...
...it looks like I'm gonna need an Argonian character.

The reason they do not have Crown Crates this month is that they know I am trying to get to 300 free unopened crates before YE 2018. I am like 4 away. They want to make me watch Twitch streams.

Jakx✭✭✭✭✭Its interesting and predictable that the goodwill ZoS tried to provide with the introduction of crown crates is completely gone. That goodwill was the occasional free crate to make people feel good about the system. Now they've completely discarded all free crates. We received zero during the latest ESO+ free trial and now none during the entire next month. This is also on top of the reduced drop rates for Twitch stream crates now too.
I think its oddly misguided on ZOS' part to begin scaling back a free crate here and there. It goes a long way toward energizing a player when they receive a free crate or reward now and again. ZOS is headed in the wrong direction for getting people to want to spend money on the game and its alarming how out of touch they seem to be with this. Its the same way with the obscene crown store prices for some items. Theyre actually selling werewolf and vampire cleanses now... that can be done for free in game at anytime. The money grubbing is starting to show its ugly face more and more. ZOS you should be opening up to your players and not pinching them.
Itll fall on deaf ears so I dunno why I bother anymore.

You'll want to go back to the multiple threads from the last two, maybe three, months where players made the same observation. There have been numerous attempts by others each month to explain the whole concept of UTC and timezones, and why the login rewards truly do start on the first of the month, even though the player may perceive the date as the last day of the previous month per their own local time. The game simply can't operate like that in a global community such as this.

I've never purchased a crown crate but I have gotten some interesting things from the giveaway crates, such as mounts.
Some mounts were nice.
Some were silly....
But they, and all daily rewards, were FREE
