ESO Token System = WoW tokens?

Wouldn't it be awesome if ESO would allow people to buy ESO tokens for 20$ each and sell them for a min-max price in game off a vendor that ESO creates in game and allow people that don't have the irl $ to use gold in game to sub for a month or obtain 1500 crowns per token, of course the monthly sub won't have the 1500 crowns fyi. Also the tokens would sell in the order of the sellers that listed them

It might be nice for the people who would rather grind in-game gold instead of paying $15 bucks a month for the benefits of the ESO+ sub.

On the other hand, given that ZOS couldn't be bothered to design a proper Crowns for Gold trading interface despite everyone warning them we needed one, I'm not sure I really want to see ZOS try to implement this.

It wouldn't be that difficult either. Make monthly subs a giftable item from the Crown Store - 1500 crowns.

Make giftable items an in-game item that can be traded through the existing UI or sold on guild traders.

Next thing you know, you've got a thriving in-game sub economy, with players driving a demand for sub gifts, and the economy acting as both a revenue stream for ZOS and an effective gold sink.

That could work also instead of having to do with a token system as well ^ Would infact be easier tbh, they really have should made it possible to buy items and make little icons for each one just like in game items and let people sell them for whatever they want in game including gifted subs which could say like 30d with a present icon or something.

I have no opinion either way in regards to subscription tokens for gold but if it stays a player to player transaction it wouldn't be a gold sink. Gold sinks take in game currency out of circulation, in this case the buyer's gold becomes the seller's gold and stays in the game economy. If zos took a cut of the sale then it would be a nominal gold sink but I doubt they would.

LOL, no. and I have plenty of gold to do that.

It is irrelevant. Zos will not be doing it. For starters, the business model for the two games are obviously different.

Eve Online has a similar protocol in place, where you can grind ISK to buy Plex then use that to sub for 30 days, or buy it outright per month.

That and a daily d/t of 20 mins and up to a hour or so for major content would be great in ESO imo (for a change).

But then Eve has been around for around 15 years or so.

I think some of the complaints for a token system was that it would "legalize" RMT Same with the controversy of allowing gifting and then people paying x amount of money for x amount of crowns now though. That was the worry when the WOW tokens first came out. Problem is, RMT is never going away. No matter how tough you are enforcing bans, people will break the rules, and trying to catch them all is impossible. Perhaps the ideal way to get rid of the 3rd party RMT is to allow at least certain ways of official RMT. Probably why they made the WOW token. Allowed people that wanted to RMT to do so, but a way for the money to go to the devs, and not some 3rd party ripping the devs off.

But then this is a risk as such RMT could be considered "pay to win" and unfair as such games are more about how much money you have than time or skill. And turn most people off from the game besides big spenders, as not everyone has some platinum unlimited credit card account. If I wanted to gamble money, I'd go to a damn casino...

And for people complaining about the Crown Store. It is just cosmetic stuff. I know of other games where if you want an edge on other people, overpowered gear, enchants, etc. Be ready to spend $2,000, even $20,000 or more. Seriously. If you want to be in the top PVP guild in one of those so called "Free to Play Games", unless you are literally in the Forbes magazine and can blow $20,000+ into a computer game. Some space sci fi game I wont mention, is selling a pack of virtual space ships, for over $40,000. For that money I could buy an actual light sport class airplane that I could fly in real life if I had that sort of money to blow in the first place...

This is why I would rather pay for a base game, and pay a monthly sub compared to something "Free to Play" Problem is that now, damned if you do, damned if you don't. Would you allow a form of RMT token, or not?

If ZoS was smart they should have done it from day 1, WoW is making a killing off the WoW tokens

Once they activated the "Gifts" option it became RMT.
