The DEFINITIVE "Hide Tabard" Suggestion

It's no secret that many players want to represent their guilds within their nametag, without having to visibly wear a tabard. Because—let's be honest—tabards are ugly, low-res, and obscure our lovely costumes and outfits. Previous discussion about how this should be accomplished raised several possible issues:
  • The "slippery slope" argument—players would continually demand for more slots to be hide-able
  • More developmental work required—to integrate this feature into the game menu options, outfit system, etc.
  • Circumventing one function of tabards—as a gold sink

But, after countless long and sleepless nights, I believe I have found the ultimate solution to all these concerns... Make a tabard variant with no in-game model.

Here's a mock-up of how this might look on the UI:

All it would take to implement this would be to copy-paste the current tabard, and simply delete its model. People would still have to purchase an actual tabard, thereby sinking gold. And this wouldn't set precedent for being able to hide additional equipment slots beyond ones headgear.

It's the perfect solution—no more excuses, ZOS!

This is the ONE to rule them all? Ok, yes I'd like to hide the tabard.

Maybe if instead everyone says this is a bad idea it will happen?

Because if so, this idea is terrible.

Or make it like a guild pin, it's already less intrusive. Or maybe we'll all look like those Adventists at the mall.

    I love it.

Or alternatively, it could just replace the belt buckle model with a guild emblem.

I kind of like the idea of it being Outfit Style 1 through Outfit Style 5 for the head. Then you would get the gold sink from changing the style, and you could technically wear it under a costume, hat, poly, etc.

    Also, fashionable as ***.

An idea that could be fun is guild costume. GM makes the design from existing motifs, it's exact same for everyone.

As an aside, it would be cool for creative crafters to sell ready-to-wear costumes to the less fortunate crowds.

At that size I'm not sure if any detail would even be visible anymore, still an improvement from a full-sized tabard nonetheless.

I still don't understand why the tabbard and name being displayed are 100% tied. Instead of hiding the tabard, can we just have guild name as a title option?

Then the two would be mutually exclusive. It'd remove the option of being able to display both, and that would cause new issues.
