healer help

Hello,

I have a pvp magblade character. Recently I needed to do a specific dungeon for a monster set so, on my second bar I put all healer skills. I did it cause I have only one character, and in pvp the character is amazing, but in PVE I am a noob dps. I tried for a long time, but whatever set and rotation I do I could never did more than 15k dps (thats my current dps atm). I am noob, slow, rotation is like playing on a piano and I can't play on a piano. I dont want to rebuild it as a tank, but as the character already magicka based, I thought I try out healing, and leave that second bar permanently a healer setup if I need to do a dungeon or some heal in imp city or cyrodiil.

So, I read walls of texts about healing and skills, and finally I think I have very good skills on my bar (see in bottom of post). My magicka regen is enough for self sustain, my max magicka is 32k+ and my spell damage is 2100+, not sure if its needed or not tho.

As a monster set I will use earthgore or chokethorn, both has their pros and cons for pve and pvp, I couldn't decide it yet.But now the interesting part for me.. the armor sets. I use pure dps armor sets. Spinner and caluurion. I saw many list about good and suggested sets for healers, and even the best set which had to do something actually with healing give about 10% + outgoing healing.

For me it doesn't look too much, does it? Only 10%... The other sets were sustain sets but I have enough sustain, or group support sets giving about 200+ wep/spelll dmg or group sustain.

So, what if I do not change my dps sets? I do not want to be the very best healer in the game, who runs the meta in golden armor, I just want to be good enough to be able to do vet HM dungeons and maybe later try out trials. my main playground is in imp city.

I was before a tank, thats the role I can do, I had all kind of tank in the past, support, selfish, health, permablock etc.. I can play pvp with my magblade, but I have totally no clue about healing. I finished my first dungeons as a healer a few hours ago. I could heal out vet HM Blessed Cruicble, some other non dlc vet dungeons. There were only two times when dps wrote into chat that "nightblade healer...", he had some problem with my class, maybe its not meta idk, and another time when they claimed I did no healing all the dungeon, but it was absolute BS as my skills are good and continously on the ground, below tank and at least one another dps. My problem is when the team members are in totally different positions and far from each other, then its very hard to heal them as my aoe heals are not 100m radius.

my skills are: Refreshing Path + Combat Prayer + Healing Springs + Energy Orb + Healing Ward + Soul Siphon ultimate

What do you think, can I be good enough with this setup to be a useful healer or I will be useless pug in the groups? In which dungeon should I test myself if I am good enough? thank you for your opinions

Having a toon that is half pve, half PvP is a bad idea and will lead to being at best, mediocre in both. Just choose what you want to play and tailor your build to that and then level another toon for the other thing, be that PvP or pve.

I second Lightspeedflashb14_ESO here, having ones thats half and half isn't really a good idea. As someone whos just converted my dps Magblade to a Healer, i can say its fun. However running DPS gear is probably not the best idea as a healer, especially if you were looking to do veteran HM dungeons or trials at some point. Playing as a healer is keeping everyone alive, while providing support and group buffs to your DPS / Tank in my experience. You do damage too, but its not your main focus.

Getting healing sets if you wish to go down the pve route is a must. So things like Sanctuary (Banished Cells), Spell Power Cure (White gold tower) etc. Earthgore is probably one of the strongest sets in my experience so far, but it doesn't hurt to have the others on hand. Any set or gear that boosts healing is amazing in my opinion, the more you can squeeze out the better. I'd rather be constantly over-healing than have dead teammates. Your listed skills are pretty solid, im running those as well.

Alcast has a build for Magblade healer here: https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-nightblade-healer-build-pve/ that list skills / gear etc that are good to have if you're looking at end-game pve. If you still want to do pvp then i'd invest in more pack space on your toon so you've got room for both PVE and PVP gear which means you'll only have to swap out skills / gear or CP. Or you could roll another toon to level up as a dedicated healer for group content if all the switching and swapping becomes to bothersome.

And if dps want to run away from the healer and stay out of range, then that's on them. If they want to stand in stupid, it's also on them lol. Stay with the group or perish, as i like to say.

Being "offensive" healer in group dungeons or open world is perfectly fine. But for trials having buffing gear means extra damage/sustain to everyone. In dungeons DDs will care about themselves as long as you keep them alive.

Thank you for your answers, I will try to do many more dungeons weekend so I can see if I am capable for the job.

Eh... I know it might be offensive to some, but you can have a character that is good at PVP and PVE. It's not impossible, though you will face challenges others don't, for sure. And you probably won't get invited to someone's end game no death, speed run, hard mode trial run. But neither do a lot of players that just focus one style or the other, so you're in good company.

I do recommend looking at Mutagen from the Resto Skill line. It's perfect for when your allies are "all over the place".

Mutagen was a perfect advise, it's so much easier to heal with it thank you! I completed many dungeons today, even did the Fang Lair in veteran with the character, and I changed to troll king set, but still use spinner and caluurion. It's very good especially with pugs, because I can do good dps that can save us in situations, for example when the ghost in fang lair chain someone down to the ground but pugs dont attack it.

I was a vampire before, but I cleansed myself and the build with troll king is extremely good in both pvp and pve healer.

Also, talking about troll king set, maybe worth noting that when I created this character long ago I made a nord+nightblade because I wanted a health regen tank as both get health recovery bonus. This resulted in while i was a vampire today and tried out troll king - although I didnt get the full bonus of TK, but when it procced my overall health recovery was still higher than the TK set tooltip, even without any CP bonuses to health rec! So, even a stage 4 vampire could find TK useful if his race and class passives give him some "compensation".

Now I am human again, and with TK I have so much survivabilty, with other sets and bonuses burst and even magicka sustain, I am extremely satisfied with the character, especially that I can use it as a healer in vet dlc dungeons as well.
