Killing whiptail (Murkmire)

Hi peeps,
I've been enjoying murkmire for a while now, but I'm stuck at a quest (the swamp and the seprent or something like that). I'm at the stage where the quest says kill whiptail, but for the life of me, I can't get to him. I googled this quest and I see a lot of people experiencing bugs with this quest. Am I just missing something or what? Really don't feel like doing the entire quest again as I'm fairly sure I'm at the last stage.
If someone knows what I'm doing wrong, I'm all ears.:)

(Also, everytime I alt+tab my game logs out, this surely can't be by design..)0 -
