Pet MagSorc Armor Question

Hello,

So I am building a Pet MagSorc. Yes yes, I started it before I heard about the Nerf.

Now I am around 300 CP. He is currently wearing Necropotence 5/5, Wizards Reposte (jewelry) and Knight Slayer (on armor and Staff)

I recently added a Monster head (Grazud something I forget the name)

I am 7/7 light armor which gives me 43k Magicka but very less health. I am thinking to add two pieces of heavy armor in there somewhere.

Which ones should I ideally go for?

Thank you.

P.s., except Maelstrom stuff. I am still stuck on stage 8.

If you have the undaunted passives 5 light/1 medium/1 heavy Is best for the armor set up imo. If you don't have those passives I would work on unlocking those. There are numerous monster sets that are decent, just depends on your play style. I run Illambris, necro and julianos. Not BiS or anything but easy to get/craft and has decent stats.

    I run 5/2 on my PetSorc. That is 5 light/ 2 heavy.

I don't need the undaunted boost to medium, i'd rather have the added benefits of the heavy armor (first 3 passives in that tree, plus the higher armor value).

For vMA, i really like running Infernal Guardian for my monster set. It lobs 3 mortars at the mobs the furthest from you and procs on shield cast.
That comes in very handy since i now have to recast shields a lot (thanks ZOS dry.gif)

Anyways, if you don't need the boost to stamina, i'd say go with 5/2 light/heavy for the extra health and resistance.

I’m often asked about decent pet builds for VMA/Trial/Dungeon runs that DON’T utilize a VMA Staff.

The following is a 36k+ build featuring Necropotence, Mechanical Acuity, and Llambris.

    https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/makemeuhsamich/video/56637748

I was using Haunting Curse since I use it in PvP and didn’t want to re-morph. If using Daedric Prey, cast it each rotation. You could also drop Curse and double bar Empowered Ward...still plenty of DPS.

I’d replace Elemental Drain with Empowered Ward/Boundless Storm in situations where it’s already provided. The Matriarch gives amazing burst heals in a pinch, too.

CP, Mundus, etc. are at the end.

I’m not a pve person, I’ve parsed like 6 times ever. I don’t care about master level dps I just want to run the dungeon and be done with it. I have all pvp morphs and leave my cp specced for pvp, but I still do over 25k dps with pushing like 4 buttons. It’s good enough. I’ve run this exact build for like a year and a half and have done the very hardest content in the game on it. It’s a good starting point.

Are you looking for a PvP build? It's not super clear from the OP. You can do 2 5-piece sets and a monster set, so I'm not sure why you're just doing a few of Riposte and Slayer. Also, whether you plan to play in CP campaigns in Cryodill or doing Battlegrounds, which are no CP is also worth noting.

I will tell you want I run, as a long time pet sorc, mainly focused on BGs.

5 Necro, 5 Spinner, 2 Maw of the Infernal. Monster pieces should be 1 med, 1 heavy.

Did you need more build help besides gear?

For PvE.. any maj set is fine with necro. Damn, you're practically getting 40k maj alone with the necro. Throw on either Juli or I've messing with Innate for the extra juice to Crystal Blast, Boundless Storm and Haunting Curse and other sorc abilities. It's quite nice. I'm also toying with the Nerieneth monster set. However, I'm a lonewolf. So, it 5 heavy Juli or Innate with 2 lights necro (glove, waist and 3 jewelries) and 2 heavies Nerieneth or Llambris.

Just run necro jewelry and 5 heavy brass fortress or plague dr. The monster one light one heavy.

You will be sitting in 40 somethingk max magika and cannjust heavy attack survive and have fun witht the pets.

Or you can run 5 light necro... monster can be one medium one heavy. And the jewlery and weapons in brass fortess or plague.

You will be siiting in 50k magica

Well, right now, I run 5 necro, 5 destruction mastery and 2 Ilambris.
I quite like that it gives me insane max magicka.
if you slot inner light, that's another +7% magickak .. I top at 57k max magicka, wich is good for pets.

If youre running a pet, you definitely want necropotence. You can use many other damage sets with it , such as julianos (craftable), etc. I actually use Infallible Aether, but that is only available through trials but works great with a heavy attack rotation. As far as shield strength and survivability goes, I have found that empowered/hardened ward plus the crit surge skill works well enough. But if you add the iceheart monster helm and shoulder you should be more than fine and dont lose too much dps from sets like llambris. I still hit over 40K (max CP) using just blockade, liquid lightning, curse, pet, heavy attack, and mages fury under 20%. You should have 18.5-19 health, and max out magicka for most damage. (Bound aegis both bars 8% max magicka when fully leveled). Should get you 50K+ magicka. You can also experiment with inner light from mages guild skill line. (When maxxed out will give you 7% more max magicka).
This is all PVE. You will also want to have 5 light armor pieces for the passives, and get your undaunted skill up (undaunted mettle) so that you can get that extra 2% max health, mag, and stam with each type of armor. So 5 light, one heavy and one medium will give you an extra 6% in those stats).

Also OP in case you’re newish, I’ll tell you right now you are getting diverse answers here because some people are answering your question from a pvp and some from a pve perspective. The answers differ. (Though with a pet necropotence is always best in any situation)

I came back after a pause of about two years. I am taking in the suggestions. Back in the day I used to play on PC, a tank build with legendary gear of Morkuldin.

I love doing PVP these days and I think I do fairly well in deathmatches. With witches brew I hit 19.9k health, which I feel is less.

I am going to try adding Julianos and play around with some monster helmets.

Which necklace and rings work best btw?

The only things I think I haven't been using is Liquid Lightning and Empowered Ward (I am using Hardened Ward instead)

So my main bar goes like this
    Clannfear with heal
    Twilight Tormentor
    Crystal Fragments
    Mages Wrath
    Hardened Ward
    Energy Overload

Pretty much this gear wise. You can use two willpower jewelry or one weapon until you get the monster helms. Often it is via the monster helms we get our one medium and one heavy armor for the Undaunted passives.

Also, use the Volitile Familiear. Never use the Clanfear with a magicka dps, or heal build. It does weak damage and a weak heal. It should be obvious since last time I checked it did physical damage, not magicka.

Here is what I am thinking, I'd love some input on this.

    Head: Grothdarr, heavy (have it)
Shoulder: Grothdarr, heavy (still have to find this) 2/2

Robe, Legs, Shoes, Belt and Gloves: Necropotence, light. 5/5

Necklace and Rings: currently I am using Wizards Reposte, however, I hear Perfect Mantle of Siroria is what I need. But I have never even tried a trial yet :s any other ideas about jewelry?

Should I instead use Spell Strategist until I find Siroria or there are other better options?

Weapons: I would love some ideas, currently I'm using knight slayers. Spell Strategist again I suppose?
