blame Sony. they make you get PS Plus for almost every multiplayer game they have, even when said multiplayer is a small part of the game that is otherwise a solo experience.

I'm still impressed tat couple of f2p MMO's actualy managed to convince them to allow connectivity without PS plus. kinda curious how they managed.

incidentally - Microsoft does the same thing with xbox as far as I know.

basically what I'm saying is - Bethesda gets no cut from PS plus costs. I will say one thing hoever. I'm reasonably certain that part of the reason why console version of this game didn't even launch until the game went buy to play/subscription optional - was becasue f existence and requirement for online ply of PS plus and xbox gold.

you are wrong, ZoS gets a big fat cut from the PS+ taxes, if they were not , the game requirement for PS / xbox subscription was gonna be dropped long time ago so more players can play it :)

except. I'm not wrong. becasue and I reiterate. it is 1. requirement for vast VAST majority of online games on consoles and in fact one of the points in favor of playing on PC that gets brought up a LOT. and 2. existed LONG before ESO was released on consoles.

and mind you, I'm not defending existence of Ps PLus. it annoys me. a LOT. I am saying that given the vast VAST library of games you can play on playstation (or xbox) all of which requiring ps plus? claiming that Bethesda gets a bif fat check out of it is... misguided. Sony is NOT charging this fee only ti give it to the companies other then Sony.

P.S. looks like ps plus is on sale right now anyways. https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/IP9101-NPIA90005_01-1YEARPACKAGE0000

Zos and all other companies which games are related to Console subscription have profit from it.
Profit can be % income from the taxes or not paying a fee to be non subscription related online game like Neverwinter for example.

$60 for an entire year of xbox live gold is a price I'm willing to pay.

Ironically enough, ESO is the only game i ever play that requires me to have gold. Every other title i play has been a singleplayer title.

+ that is PS+ and not ESO+ is needed for most muliplayer games on ps4, argument is that this pays for the servers for games like COD who is hosted by Sony. ESO and other MMO tend to run their own servers.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Supposedly Sony were initially open to not needing PS+ to play ESO but Microsoft was apparently saying no. If ZOS ignored XB1 and didn't release it there, we may have ended up in a similar situation to FF14, no PS+ required

that's because initially ESO was going to be a mandatory sub game, the PS+ requirement was added after the ESO sub was dropped, FFIV has a mandatory sub to play and therefore is excluded from the PS+ requirement

Given the price of consoles these days and the "extra" subscription, you are better off buying a computer in the long run. PCs have more upfront cost but far cheaper over the long run. $700-$800 will run games most games that come out for the next few years( if you buy the right configuration) for years.

By time you tack on sub prices to consoles and the cost of games and hardware it gets really expensive fast. Console games are also far more expensive with far fewer titles than PC. My PC is older than an XBox One by a few years and i am just now replacing it this year. Not because i need too, but because i want something newer for gaming. Paid $1000 for this pc, plus $120 for a new video card 5 years in total investment is $1120 or $112 a year. That is less than $10 a month.
