$40 for a crafting motif???

I would really like the Aldmeri set but at 5000 crowns that is $40.00!!!!

First, who actually spends that much money for a cosmetic item??? Second, how does this company get off treating their customers like this?

I can afford it, but this is like giving wall street a bailout. Its just not necessary for it to be that much money.

Those motifs cost a few thousand in guild stores, really not a problem to obtain without paying money and just playing the game.

The Aldmeri motif can be acquired in-game as well and will be much cheaper with gold.

The crown store prices for items that can also be acquired that way are done so they don't completely devalue the in-game versions. Right now, people can decide whether they'd rather do the time to acquire or pay the convenience fee.

I did mention I was looking for it In game. As far as guild stores I have been looking for a long time all over the place and not found anything for some time. The only thing selling now is hollow jack and dremora.

What server do you play on? Generally when I am looking for motifs (or recipes) I check TTC's website. Sure, sometimes the thing I want is gone before I get there, but it at least gives me an idea of where to look so I don't waste additional extra time. I do feel you on that part at least. I think I have 1 particular chapter of a motif left and there aren't many and the few that are around seem very highly proceed so I've just given up for now.

This. Gold and sweat are the preferred currency for obtaining Motifs. Crowns are reserved for the people who are impatient. For some people, $40 is a lot cheaper than gold and sweat.

For Crown exclusive Motifs, which are not available in the game through any game play, this reasoning does not apply. There, the prices are set according to the precisely calculated Whale Factor.

I did. When I came back, I still had a bunch of crowns laying around from my past subscription. After another month, I had enough to buy Pact motif and didnt know what to do with them anyway. Now I regret not keeping them for race change, a banker or wathever else.

Honestly, I don't think really anyone buys the easy to get motifs from the Crown Store (e.g. Alliance Styles, Assassins League, Ancient Orc, Rare Styles, etc) unless they're subscribers who have an unbelievable surplus of crowns and are 100% disinterested in housing, mounts, pets, or anything else the store has to offer. Those seem to be there more as a "If you're really lazy, really bored, and have nothing better to spend your Crowns on..." offering. Should they be cheaper? Probably. But just don't buy them, since they're so easy and cheap to get in-game. Save Crowns for buying motifs like Fang Lair.

A tip that I've found to work...……

When looking for an Alliance Motif check guild stores in zones that are that Alliance....

It's by no means a 100% solution but it's how I completed my Ad and EP motifs
