Why are Motifs so painful to obtain?

✭There are 2 ways to get dungeons motifs: if you are good and have a good group do the dungeon in HM for 100% drop rate, or non-HM for 50%. If you can't beat the dungeon, then farm material 2h/day and you can buy 1-2 page of any dungeon motif/day. It take the same time if you farm the dungeon in non-HM and you get to choose the page you need, while if you're farming yourself you can't.Edited by TheDarkShadow on November 12, 2018 7:41AM0 -

✭✭✭✭✭(facepalm) majority of cool motifs are in crown store only for a limited time, if you want it now you either grind it or buy with gold from guild store.0 -
Protossyder✭✭✭✭Farming motifs in dngns??? IT TAKES FOREVER that way... its such a huge waste of time. You can do other things to earn gold to buy the motifs a lot faster given the RNG, the time it takes to run the same fricken dngn over and over and over........ and over... and still not get the ones u need.

Farming/completing motifs is not a big deal. When I run a dlc dungeon and drop a motif I always ask if the others still need it, so they can trade it for theirs. You forgot to add it is a time sink. The longer a player try to complete motifs the more likely is that player will purchase something in CS or at least get on ESO+ train (which again adds more money to ZoS money binge each month).0 -

Then try farm battleground motifs. A Friend of mine plays Battleground every day and still hasnt got all of the pieces.0 -

✭✭I trade items in between close friends, or I give them one thing one day, then when im looking for something and they have it they send it to me. Of course I don't have everything I want or need, but it's cool that I have friends who help me out like that, and vice versa.0 -
AndyMac✭✭✭✭✭Because sometimes it's fun to endlessly chase a full set of motifs for your crafter and then give up and buy them in the Guild traders or Crown Store.

Alkapton✭✭✭This one has all available motif with the exception of Frostcaster (which is not available at this time), so this one knows.
This one would still have many motif to obtain if grinding where the only way to get them. Guild stores is where this one found them.
OK its still a grind but a quicker grind, you make 10 - 20k per hour slaughtering cats in the Rift. Took me just over a month to buy all motif. Only found two sets are tricky - Imperial (the one you buy for silly ap, you can get it for gold at reasonable price if you paitent) and Boyant Armiger is it? The one from Vvardenfell chests - I have opened 100's of Vvardenfell chests and am yet to get single page. That is actually the grind that made me decide to get all motif from traders - I thought that the easiest grind - just open chests get motif. Well that ain't happening so this one say support your local traders and the economy in general.0 -
Malborn66✭✭✭I am not interested in grinding for Rare Motifs.
I generally buy them from Traders on an 'as needed' basis.
I am currently looking for a couple of Militant Ordinator pages to complete master writs that I have in my bank.
My main crafter recently achieved the 50 Rare Motifs requirement and is now up to ~54
The annual festival did me no end of good this year for rare motif acquisition.
Did you notice the way that Dwemer and Glass motifs suddenly became cash cows in the Crown Store or for Master Crafter chits?
Luckily I bagged those while they were relatively common.
