Too bad no one told you that maelstrom weapons is BiS for practically everything DPS wise PvE, that's why there's a back bar and front bar talk going on.

yeah , and everyone according to you can actually do vma ?
first off all not everyone has that DLC ! and vma is not achievable for everyone playing this game !

The only thing I can agree upon is that everyone can not do vMA if they don't have the DLC, otherwise it's perfectly doable for every player and has been for a long time.
Pretty off topic though, front bar and back bar setups are still the best and what most people use

well i agree with that! but not for all players a viable option !
and for the newer players not always possible without dlc or a low cp level

When you browse the forums as a new player, you will see a lot of players using the frontbar back bar setup! so i followed that to !
but i wish i knew back then that you actually can have 3 sets active at all times!
the key to this is using 2 weapons of the same set !
one weapon of the set frontbar and a weapon of the same set backbar ! this will count as 2 pc's.
This allow's you , when using 2 jewelry of that same set to only use one body piece an thus you can combine an heavy armor set with an light armor set but still get the 5 pc bonus passive's
and on top of that use a monster set !
What you're referring to sounds like a dual-wield (or sword + shield) situation? You're absolutely right in that it works the way you describe! What may also be very handy for newer players to know, is that you can actually make full use of the 5/5/2 set combo in any other build as well, if you shuffle around your set pieces for a bit. ^^ This is because a few updates back, ZOS changed the way set pieces count towards their respective set bonuses. 2H pieces count as two set slots now, or so to speak.
I personally use the following set-up:
Head + Shoulders --> 2p monster set
Chest + Legs + Waist + Hands + Feet --> 5p crafted set
Ring (x2) + Necklace + Front-bar DW dagger (x2) + Back-bar 2H Axe --> 5p overland set
The monster + crafted set are always up because they're not even on a bar that could switch them out potentially.
The overland set is always up because 3 jewelry pieces + two daggers = 5 set pieces.
And even when I switch bars; 3 jewelry pieces + an axe that counts as two set slots = also 5 set pieces.
Didn't put the crafted set on weapons + jewelry because crafting jewelry yourself is CRAZY expensive & totally not worth it (for me at least), even considering jewelry crafting has been out since May.. and ideally there should be enough materials floating around the economy to make do.
Also, the above set-up doesn't give me any control over possible proc sets, because any set bonus effects would always be 'on'. I know some more experienced players (that run two proc sets) sometimes intentionally have them separated / only one active on each bar - so that they have full control over when a certain effect can and cannot be procced. I am not nearly on that level.. xD But should I need to run something similar one day, I can always switch around the set pieces for Hands & Feet with the weapon pieces.
If you use dungeon sets armor is much easier to get than weapons so it makes sense to craft them.What you're referring to sounds like a dual-wield (or sword + shield) situation? I'm terrible at keeping a tab on prices, so I didn't know this. Making an purple jewelry piece cost 60K, that is more than gold out two daggers and an bow, find you have made them cp150 and do it again. Really only worth it on trial sets if you can not do trial in vet.
And yes managing proc is an bit above my level to.

I'd love to see a new player who just hit 160 get them self a Maelstrom weapon. lol
For those who aren't ready for that level of content yet, they should be going with the classic 5/5/2 setup. Which is what the OP is trying to say.

Been playing since Beta. Still dont have a vMA run done. Still melt the mobs just fine. Unless your chasing Vet Trials Leaderboard Time (1% of the game conetent) you dont need best in slot. Heck, you dont even need the Meta. In fact, unless you have a perfect rotation, the Meta/BiS thing is questionable for its utility
