Gryphon splash screen is driving me crazy

I can't unsee this no more. The gryphon splash screen when ESO loads up drives me batty. It's a beautiful drawing (painting?) EXCEPT for his left wing. It's wrong. It's like bad copy/paste. There is no way that wing is connect to the gryphon's back. Right wing fits perfectly but compare it to the left wing (gryphons point of view not ours) and it just seems wrong.
Am I wrong? I don't want to go batty anymore when seeing it. Please tell me how I am wrong.

✭Glad I'm not the only one to think that these gryphons are badly designed. Even if they were to exist, they could never possibly fly with a body/wings like that.
The one in the splash screen even more so. Look at a bird's shoulder. Any bird. Now look at that gryphon and where its wings come out of the body. They're just wrong.0 -

However, based on the angle of the wings, the Gryphon is changing direction. So the right wing is taking more drag and the left wing is angled toward its new target, which for point of view purposes is us.

✭✭✭I see where you are coming from based on the pic. Seems like the left wing (HIS left) is a bit too far back off the shoulder.
If the left shoulder was dipped a bit and back a touch, I think it's a great image. The body just doesn't show enough curl to depict the movement of the left bank as well as the wings do.1 -

Yes that is it. The left wing looks too far back. It doesn't even look like it is aligned with the right wing.

✭✭✭✭✭He's basically looking over his left shoulder.
He was flying to the left side of the image (your left, not his), then something to the right caught his attention and he's turned in that direction. So his left shoulder-blade is slightly raised and pushed back towards the middle of his back to accomodate turning his head. Presumably the wing connects at the same point as the shoulder blade so this would push the wing back too, which is what you're seeing in this picture.
To me it looks like he's not quite turned yet, but would turn on the next downbeat if he doesn't face back in the direction he was going. So the left wing is in position for the turn and the right wing is just about to catch up.
Sort of like this one, except this is at an even more extreme angle:

The Khajit on the Hew's Bane loading screen also drives me insane (dat head!!!).
In the defense of the artists though, these detailed scenes require skills in anatomy, architecture, lighting, props, color, vegetation all at once, all of which are quite tough to master single handedly let alone together. Now this is a perfect reason why it's off. Top picture, left wing, you can say the line is on the wing bone. On the right side it's on the feathers. They do not line up at all.

✭✭Its probably not a bug... I've also been bothered by it. I've studied it and imo the original artwork had the Gryphon coming straight or mirrored the opposite angle at the screen someone wanted it changed and the artist changed the body... not the wings (maybe in a hurry)
Anyway that is my take on the weird wings as they are definitely painted straight on or even the opposite way .. originally.. bit lazy on the redo though.Edited by DanteYoda on November 14, 2018 12:21AM1 -
