Hello everyone, today I want to talk about... stabby things!
Mainly, have you noticed how all those impressive looking monster weapons are maces, swords and axes... but none of them seem to be daggers???
My main character as a incorrigeable stabby girl finds that discriminating! She wants it to look good too when she slashes someones throat!
What you say?
Too few people like stabbings to make it very profitable for ZOS to spend resources to have their grafic designers make monster looks daggers?
Hmmm...
Okay, but what if... there was another way to make nifty looking blades on the cheap?
So I have been thinking... what if they took existing looks, and changed them just a little to make them look more nifty? Take the best looking "crafting styles" dagger visuals, and change them to sell as "Daggerpower" outfit options pack?
Like for example...
The Buoyant Arminger Dagger looks neat enough...
...but what if there were outfit options that simply replaced the un-colorable green bits with some other stuff and effects? Like... purple-black dark magic crystals and a "purple haze" effect like the shadowrend set, or a lava-orange "fire crystal" edge and Llambris flame effects, or both?
The Dro-M'Athra Dagger also looks nice...
...but would not a version with red "blood magic" runes and red-black haze be nifty as well for those vampire players? Or a version with "holy" yellow-gold runes and some effects?
The Stahlrim Frostcaster Dagger is nifty...
...but how about a "frozen venom" green smoking version, or another "dark magic crystal" purple black one?
The Hollowjack Dagger is pretty...
...but how about a "nature/poison power" version with veridian green instead of orange and smoke effects? Or one in cyan-blue with lighting effects?
See what I am daydreaming about?
And the same thing could be done for lots of nice weapons, allowing people a much wider range of "FX effect" weapons at very little development cost to ZOS, right?
So, is this a decent idea, or am I just insane? (Or both?
)
