Currently we have 12 slots for our gear (2 of which are switchable via weapon swap), and basically the standard is 5+5+2 or 5+3+2+2, and those 2 or 3 are always taking the same slot (monster helm/shoulder, jewel and weapon). However I do feel like this system is less flexible and maybe some changea will do it good.
1.Get some of the less popular sets and utility sets to 4 or even 3 piece. Some of the set abilities are not “trash” per say, but do have way better alternatives for 5 gear slots. So why not change them to 4 or 3 (hell even 2 for some cases)and make them more viable?
2.Overland loot drop 1-piece. I feel like, the old system with some unique gears have 1 advantage than put gears into sets - in “wild” (non-farming)gameplay time, the loots are no longer that exciting when all you get is another piece for a 5 piece set, and you know 95% of them are trash (and currently all 2-piece and 3-piece are soecial gears you can't get by just exploring and wandering). Get some thicc 1-piece bonus jewel/armor/weapon out in the wild, they will be the perfect solutions for awkward situations when you don't have another good set bonus due to lack of slots, and creates excitement while getting “wild” loots
The above two points are just examples tho, the core of this discussion is about whether creating more less-than-5-piece sets is great for build versatility and other stuff
