I think you meant gen x and baby boomers with their cheap college education and the $18/hr after inflation part time jobs they paid it with.

OP, if I was you, I would look for a cheaper food. Don't follow some streamer/youtuber that is making money off you.
I use crit/health/mag pots on my pvp templar and I do fine.

So, you accounted for inflation for income but not for the cost of education. LOL

On topic: I fished for the recipe, then saw it needed 5 PMoP. OP, as others have said, try farming the ingredients yourself and you'll soon realize how expensive and time-consuming it is to make. If you can't be bothered, then why should others be?

The obvious solution is to just use Dubious
Valrien Dravic -- Level 50 Dunmeri Sorcerer (EP)
Garahel Dravic -- Level 50 Bosmeri Nightblade (EP)
Tamriel Unlimited was a mistake. One Tamriel was a bigger mistake

5 pearl powder for 4 broths is ridiculous given how hard it is to find.

This. Plus the recipe is actually very easy to get. So the ingredient (and that the food was bugged for a long time) make the broth a very unattractive food to craft and sell.

They really need to make Clam Gal and Powdered mother of pearl more common, its kind of ridiculous how rare and expensive they are

    oh yea?
We all said for OP to craft much cheaper food. The stats already worth it right now.

It takes exactly 15 minutes to farm the 5x pearls needed to craft 4 broths.

    Not worth buying them.

How? I've played a ton in summerset and only have 25 or so of these. Granted, I've never intentionally farmed it, but that sounds quick to me.

To the op. I might want them someday, so mine aren't for sale. Elder Scrolls hoarding is a hell of a drug.

The 15 minutes is a BCS. You can run geysers and farm giant clams that fast, but it most likely will never average at 15 minutes...

Yea you are full of crap. I make beach runs all the time to farm clams. Always one of you guys around with your big fish stories.

"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

    ^Exactly this.^

There is no need for gold food unless you’re doing end game content.

Powdered Mother of Pearl drop rate is 20-30% from geysers and <5% from clams. Most of the geysers are far from shrines, and the spawn timer/order is difficult to determine; you have to check them individually, which is not very efficient. Clam spawns aren't fixed, and they share them with water hyacinth, water and possibly nirnroot. So even with clams being highlighted by Keen Eye from Alchemy skill line as of Wolfhunter, it's still a pain to farm. I've passed 6 chars trough Summerset, and did the 50 geysers achievement on all of them, plus a lot of clams I found, yet I only have 60-70 PMoP. Interestingly enough I had found 13/14 unique Psijic motif pages and many duplicates, which are pretty rare themselves so it says a lot about the rarity of the ingredient.

It's kind of like gold jewelry; ridiculously overpriced for the real value it returns and takes an absurd amount of grinding/gold to get the mats. I'll use the purple stuff and get on with things that are actually fun.
I think comparing it to jewelry is a little unfair since it's not nearly as much of a time or money sink, but I get your point. Personally, I save the broth for Trials and use Dubious Camoran Throne for everything else.

I see a lot of the broth on traders, it doesn't always sell. But the PMoP does and usually pretty fast.
For me, no matter how out of the way the trader is where I'm listing it, PMoP never sits for even a full 24 hours. Someone always snatches it up quickly. I can't keep it stocked!

Recipe is easy to get, then all you have to do is buy Mother of Pearl which there are a ton of on guild traders. Just bought up a truck load a few nights ago that will cover my Artaum for a while.

They're steady at 6k per on Xbox NA. That's 30k average in MoP alone for 4 portions. Assuming that I only buy the MoP and farm the other mats that's 7.5K a pop. I'd realistically have to sell at or close to 10k per. That's a 10k profit (40k total revenue) on the 30K I put out. It's more or less free money if I can move it ( which I know I won't be able to). And that's assuming that I don't factor in all the time spent gathering other mats when pricing the food. The making of the Broth is like many things in ESO: great idea in theory, poor idea in practice.

I don't think it was ever intended to be sold at traders so Zos manipulated the recipe to deter people from trying to make a profit from that one?

True. I was just illustrating to the OP how it could go if the food were actually in traders.

Yeah, I agree. Just not worth it as a seller. I've sold in my guild traders exclusively to help out guildies only. If ZoS made MoP easier to get or limited a few mats to make the broth it wouldn't be so bad
