Do people really "hate" Murkmire DLC?

Boring, recycled content with a different skin with stories that quickly go stale. I play primarily for the combat and main a MagSorc...so you can imagine what I think of this DLC. :/

No business can last giving customers what they don't want. Sorry, but from bugs to balancing issues, just too many over-reaching, illogical, changes that negatively impact enjoyment. Really a shame.

I don't hate it, but it's kind of boring, rather bland. I like the classic Shadowfen zone much more, tbh.

It's my first time subscribing for ESO+ and so I decided to experience Murkmire since it's going free later this month, and I'm actually having a lot of fun. When it comes to Argonians, I always felt like there wasn't much about them in comparison to other races. I mean, I've learned so many new things about their culture; their actual culture rather than the typical slave lives they go through. I also got to know more about their origins and the resemblance it shares with south American tribes. My performance has taken a hit due to just how heavy the new map is, but I find it such a joy to explore and the music is also quite nice. Maybe I've missed something that made people so mad?

The art/music of the new zone is terrific. It looks and sounds great.

The problem is with each new DLC they add CP which just makes their environments more and more easy for higher level characters. When there is no sense of danger it really stifles the fun of exploring.

That and their arena wasn't included in the activity finder, which was a very poor decision on their part.

They need to make a veteran version of each zone with stronger monsters that higher level characters can access. Otherwise, more and more higher level characters are going to move on to other games that aren't so ridiculously easy.

    Yes..

I dislike Argonians, poor versions of Draconians imo, they talk silly.. kinda annoying to me, dislike swamps, so more swamps not really a fan...

Then we get the mechanics, grind zone... not a fan, horrible nerfs destroyed my main classes, not a fan.. server latency and high ping times as an icing on the nerfmire cake...

No i detest this DLC and update.

Welcome, Moon-and-Star, to this place where destiny is made.

I play healers or DPS often for vet dungeons and trials (NA, CP810+). I play mostly elves or Argonians.
I primarily play Damage-Based stuff in PvP, but occasionally I'll play something tanky or got the heals.
I also love gaining more knowledge both metaphysical and mundane regarding TES lore.

I also occasionally role-play, but I prefer playing the game.

I think Murkmire is suffering from being paired with an unpopular base patch with changes no one wanted and horrendous bugs. Murkmire itself is pretty nice, and as someone else said, the lore surrounding the Argonians is interesting and helps to make them a unique and quite alien race.

Had it come with a better base patch, I'm sure the reception would have been a warmer one.

It was a nice little DLC, but once you finish the quests there isn't much to do there (which is a shame). There number of containers you can farm furniture recipes from is so limited it doesn't warrant going there anymore for that purpose. There is little incentive to do the dailies anymore - I'm tired of either: a.) not getting a motif page as a reward, or b.) when I do get a motif page, there is no variety ... I always seem to get the same two or three over and over again.

Ehhh.. it's a step up from Shadowfen, but if you're into Argonian toons, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Just another small DLC area, though, as Gold Coast and Hew's Bane, but not so pleasing of an environment or atmosphere. Still, it does seem the developers put in some work on the zone and environmental features and aspects. At least, they try to instill some sort of Indiana Jones-ish mystique to the intro quest. Ha ha

Uhm. Summerset looks like Auridon expanded. It’s beautiful fantasy land.

Murkmire looks like Shadowfen expanded. A big swamp. Just not Aesthetically pleasing to me . I don’t want to spend time here.

I have not even visited the swamp. Sounds depressing.

PVP has been fun as normal in Cyro. I thought performance wise that it is about the same in Cyro. So I would say from a PVP perspective that the DLC was implemented well this time around. Not talking about all the class changes, just talking about the updating of the servers.

It's not really the DLC itself that has people upset; it's the update full of fundamental nerfs that came with it.

For myself, this drastically altered 3 of my chars, 2 of which are Wardens. The nerfs the Wardens received were, frankly, ill thought out and uncalled for. There is a lot of similar sentiment from other players regarding other classes.

It also boils down to the Public Test Server feedback, and the Class Reps vs ESO developers. There were many reasonable lines of suggestions and discussions, communicated from veteran players who had tested the proposed changes. Only speaking for Wardens, our feedback thread was completely ignored. Zero comments from any ZOS dev.

So, for myself, I took my business elsewhere. I have been playing MMO's since 1999 EQ, and don't have any more time for developers that have such apparent contempt for their customers.

When there is a management change, I'll give ESO another look.

It is a rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly obvious. The cry 'I could have thought of that' is a very popular and misleading one, for the fact is that they didn't, and a very significant and revealing fact it is too. - Douglas Adams

Murkmire is my favourite DLC so far. I love it.

Murkmire DLC is just a zone and a story, NOT an Update 20 that made combat and balance uncomfortable for some players.

    And Murkmire is awesome.

Laggy as hell on launch day, rolled my eyes at every Morrowind fanboy going “Hahaha look at me I make slave jokes like an epic gamer guys lol” the atmosphere and architecture of the zone was really simple and not fancy so that’s a pleasing change. The background music was calming af. The main villain for the plot was predictable, no surprise there. Hate the Moss-Skin and Bright-Throat tribes, easy slaves for the Archein to swoop in and claim. Naga-Kur are the most metal af tribe next to the Veekskhleel, correct me if I spelled that wrong. Overall it was enjoyable.

I like Murkmire but am disappointed with it. To me the story line and side quests were shorter than they should have been and the area needs another couple of delves/dungeons. I also don't like the lack of crafting writs and their absence doesn't make sense to me. Once I'm done with my combat dailies there is little to do other than overdose on Scuttle Blooms. I just wish there was more to justify my hanging around.

I think it's not just murkmire, it's all the problems that have been handled poorly in the past patches also, the constant "nerfing" of classes, taking more and more away from their class/spec flavor, because they don;t really wanna make a new difficulty for pve, and separate pvp from pve, because god forbid we actually put effort to make the game better, we just wanna make the most money for the least amount of effort.

Guys we really care about the game, which is why there is so much lag in the game and performance issues, it's because we care about the game, we care so much, that instead of making the game better by making new difficulties to make up for the cp system increase in power, we just nerf classes, because we care about the game, we care so much about the game, that some of the resources that we could have been used to make the game better, we use to make new garbage for the gambling system (loot crates), because we care about the game, i don;t think that this takes a lot of resources to be honest, but then again, it doesn't really make it better, because if it doesn't take a lot of resources, than what are you doing? is the dev team too small? i Doubt it, and also it makes very apparent what your priorities are, and your first priority doesn't seem to be making a really good game, but rather taking as much as you can with as little effort as you can put, fine, then when another better game comes out, i will take my money elsewhere.

Look, i get it you're a company and you need to make money in some way, BUT, money comes naturally if you make a good game, the road you are taking, will let this mmo survive for maybe a few more years, until a new much better game where the devs, actually care comes out, this is a enjoyable moneygrab, it's a decent game, but it's not a good game.

If you make a good game, money will come anyway, just because people wanna play the game, because it's good, currently the only reason why eso is alive, is because there aren't many other mmos on the market, and the ones that could be better like bdo, are making really bad decisions (p2w and all), and wow is on a recess, because of the current expansion, during legion, i didn't even touch eso, because wow was that much more enjoyable, and i plan to go back, if the current expansion gets better.

Im excited to explore Murkmire but based on my limited exposure (seeing it on the map) I was a bit underwhelmed by the size of the zone. It seems like the zone DLCs are getting smaller and smaller which is unfortunate. I really expected the zone to be a bit bigger but hopefully what it lacks in size will be made up for in lore and engaging quests.

I've been a subscriber for about 3 years now and I honestly love Murkmire. I think the locales are beautiful and I've been having a lot of fun since it was release on PC. Will I live there? No, it's just a really small zone, but i think it's so well done.

They look like medium-sized elves, though, at least from the few we've seen. They're not short - taller than Bosmer, at any rate - and they're not particularly stout. Not particularly hairy, either. They're not even the master smith elves - that'd be the Orismer.

They do have living underground and fancy steam-powered contraptions going for them, that much is true.

They basically ruined their own game trying to balance for the Swift jewelry trait.

They boosted Stam by making everyone be snared 100% of the time with the only counter worth a darn being Forward Momentum.

They DESTROYED the mag sorc class.. You can literally not burst anything down anymore.

BGs are a nightmare at the moment. I solo 100% of the time and I am becoming VERY frustrated despite putting up the occasional insane numbers and often doing very well. My magplar is snared 100% of the time in BGs.. Spamming purge doesnt help.. They just reapply. ice builds designed to make life MISERABLE are starting to crop up.

Basically stam is king of the heap. Add in a tanky Templar healer with 3 stam DPS and you have a nightmare scenario in BGs.

This game has a ton of potential.. The flaws THEY built in are forcing me to consider taking a break or smash my keyboard.
