for pvp warden, redguard would be my last option, no defense passives.

imperial 12% health + melee heal which stacks with lotus
    nord 9% + 20% health regen + 6% damage reduction
orc 6% health + 20% health regen + healing received + the speed boost ain't bad
argonian 9% health + healing done and healing recieved + pot sustain + poison disease resist(great)
khajit 8% crit for heals and damage + 20% health regen
    woodelf poison disease resist

if heavy armor troll king build, khajit will fill the lack of crit and add 20% to that troll

if medium then any of the tankier races

I had a imperial stamwarden since Morrowind, I race changed to Argonian and I don’t regret it a bit. Potion passive is amazing.
    PvP needs more love.

best to start with skills you comfortable using and what weapons you will use, then your gear, and then fill the hole in your build with race

my warden is leveled up now and all of my pvp are high defense turtle builds with burst , the cost reduction and weapon damage and crit of medium is very attractive so personally i would choose a tanky race to not regret being in medium,

if you going heavy then redguard is fine, if u have the crit (helps for burst and heals)

its easier to make medium armor tanky, rather than get a heavy set that gives cost reduction + crit + 15% weapon damage

just know what u plan to do then u wont regret what you choose i guess, argonian is OP as @BuildMan said

    Orc
Reasons: they are badass, have bonus to HP max, Stam max, healing received (self heals count) and HP regen, Swift warrior for sprint speed and cost reduction and melee damage bonus is nice little extra.

argonian is probably the play, you can get away with running lingering health, major vitality potions on them, they have decent passive max stats and resistances
Why lingering? you might ask: lingering health pots are like a half a vigor with 100% uptime.

    Heavy 5/2 or 5/1/1 redguard. 7th, bone / shackle / fury, bloodspawn.
1h/s front poison / restore stamina nirn, 2H back wpdamage infused.
steed mundus, 3 stat glyph big pieces.
the other things is personal choice. (dont use swift ffs, it is not worth)

heroic, vigor, spores, shimer, bird, DBoS
slice, sub, FM, netch, fort, forest

make sure to spend minimal 37 on thick skinned and 27 quick recovery to sustain a lot of dots damage, a lot of dots = easier proc on 7th and bloodspawn.

im just gonna put it on here.
