First vMA - StamSorc 540cp thoughts

I was 540cp Stam Sorc - Just switched before the new DLC. No recommended vMA gear, just Hundings and Briarheart with Velidroth. Typical PVE skills with crit surge. Vigor swapped in for bound on 2nd bar.

Friday - I told a friend I'm going to clear vMA tomorrow after not ever doing it.

Saturday 7am - I woke up with some pain that sent me to the doctor because I couldn't breathe without it hurting unless I was sitting up straight with perfect posture and taking small breaths. The lab machines were all down so they said no tests could happen until the following week.

Saturday 11am - Since I couldn't sit in any way other than full upright posture to breathe I moved my laptop to the kitchen table. I said I was going to complete it and I meant it.

My thoughts: I've always been a good gamer, I used to be a pro gamer back in the days, I've been part of world firsts in raiding, etc. Surely I can beat this without issue.
  • Ok this is actually pretty challenging.
  • wtf just 1 shot me??
  • Maybe I'm getting bad now that I'm getting older.
  • Ok I just suck. I'm remarkably awful at games now.
  • Maybe I should wait until 810 cp. Nah I'm dying to being bad not a CP level. The armor would help though... No. I'm still making mistakes so I'll just get better.
  • I had that one!! ...but RNG on that damn mushroom in the blue circle... Whatever suck it up try again. At least I can tell my ESO skill has improved just from these 8 short hours.
  • Final round. Rocky 1 Theme song - "Gonna fly now". I will play all night to finish this.

11 hours after starting, still sitting upright at the kitchen table I prevailed.

I actually had a feeling of accomplishment. While there were things that I could've done to make it easier (farm a different armor set, get to 810 cp), I knew I was the one really making the mistakes with exception of RNG and a couple of bugs. My gameplay has certainly improved across the board - peripheral observation of everything, mechanic reflexes, respecting how quickly something can wreck your world if you're lazy and don't pay it proper attention, etc.

In the end I know this helped me to be a much better ESO gamer. I can already tell in various dungeons, trials, etc. As frustrating as it may be for some, you should complete it. It'll help you come out a better, more knowledgeable player, in the end.

I doubt that anything will come close to the feeling of finishing it the first time for me, but clearing it the 2nd and proving to myself that it wasnt a fluke was also a good feeling.

    Well done OP.

@tactx congrats. What weapon did you get? I'm sure you know that the champion's chest is the real final boss of maelstrom

Clearing it the second time is going to make you wonder why it was so hard the first time.
They nerfed magsorcs so hard stamsorcs felt it,lol - Somber97866

Maelstrom 1h sword and 1h axe. Neither of which seem to be of any use. Just threw them in the bank because you never know.

Agreed there. Then after each complete it gets easier and easier (then once you comepleted it once you try again on another class.)
I've cleared it on my Stam DK and mag and Stam wardens, with Stam DK being my highest score so far.

Don't worry. My first vMA clear took me 5 hours, and the last 29 minutes :) vMA is only about practice.

Gratz! Welcome to the club! In all fairness, you spoke a lot about armor and CP, but I think you biggest handicap was having a stam char. Even after completing it at CP 400 on my magblade, I wouldn't dare try it on a stam class just yet. Range and DPS spammables that heal you are very helpful.

Edit : I hope you didn't try to complete this without reading @Joy_Division insane vMA guide. In case you did, here it is for your 2nd run

Congrats! I only completed vMA once and it was also with my stam sorc and briarheart (and hunding too iirc)! I tried other builds but at the end that was the best for me.

It was terrible painful, I almost uninstalled lol... I swore I would never come back. Luckily I got the bow!

What bothered me most is the fact that since you can't make any mistakes, when skills or actions don't fire because of lag you are totally screwed. And I always have at least 250ms of lag so, yes it's very frustrating.
