Miat’s still working?

I’ve noticed for a few weeks that a LOT of people have been dodge rolling my snipes from stealth out of nowhere. Is Miat’s still functional? It seems obvious that something outside of random dodge rolling is going on.

    People can hear the snipes or are dodging with bow regularly for the speed buff

    The bug that was preventing me from hearing snipes seems to happen a lot less than it used to. Sprint bug also seems to happen a lot less than it used to.

    I run the miat’s Addon and it doesn’t give any indicator afaik

    As someone who got accused of using miats very often while it was out (I dont use any addons, learning to pvp on console made addons in pvp seem mostly useless coming to pc tbh) what you're experiencing are people who either see you before you cast snipe somewhere behind a group with a bow, hear the sound indicator, or got hit by one snipe already. Snipe is incredibly easy to predict, basically useless in 1v1 against a decent player unless you really catch them by surprise.

    If you're throwing snipes out behind a group of 15 of your closest pals, thats really when you start to see its effectiveness go up. But at that point they could just be dodge rolling to avoid roots or any of the other 20 skills being aimed at them.

    Tl;dr
    Miats isn't still a thing, snipe is pretty easy to predict and counter.

    Fortunately If you know the correct settings pvp alerts still works. I dodge everything from stealth players from snipe to onslaught to uppercuts:)

    Assuming Miat's is still working as it was before the alleged 'fix' then Snipe can be easily countered as it has a cast time and travel time. Uppercut has a cast time, so can again be easily countered... but Onslaught is instant cast and melee range. How can any add-on help you dodge that without forcing dodge (which would be an obvious cheat)?

    Genuine Q as there is a lot of confusion about this in PVP atm and people seem to be playing dumb on this issue, possible intentionally (who knows!?).

    Miats doesnt work anymore because of something to do with what part of the game addons can have access to (im cpu illiterate sry). The point is if you know a work around it's obviously not intended anymore and you just admitted to exploiting on the forums. Which is also naming and shaming yourself. Niiiiiiccceee.

    Definitely something going on. A fair number of players able to dodge javelin every time while running away. I’d imagine if such an add on did work still no one would be quick to admit or share.

    I paid extra attention to this last night in BGs. Saw it from a few people but one guy dodge rolled every time i would open from sneak on him. Every single time.

    It's not Miats, its cheaters.

    ALL PC games have cheaters and hackers, without exception because PC is NOT a walled garden (such as consoles where the only code that will run has to be signed by Microsoft or Sony, and hacked/modded consoles fail security and integrity check mechanisms based on code signing certificates and hardware)

    Putting everything servers side doesn't stop cheaters and hackers, it only limits them. The Server has to accept data from the client that is trusted as long as the said data fit inside a set of parameters else the server would reject everything and nothing would work.

    Consoles have very few if any cheaters because its a walled guardian. Microsoft and Sony update their firmware and change the security handshake algorithms to verify your console isn't modded or hacked on a reg basis, and unsigned code(code not signed by them) simply won't run thus cheating is at a bare minimum on consoles.

    this isn't true about PC, There is no way for game devs to verify client side code hasn't been tampered with or hooked short of running client side anti-cheat (which zos doesn't do).

    Server side checks alone only limit cheating, they don't stop it completely.

    Its why I have bought ZERO games on PC that are online since I bought ESO in 2014, i'll do my online gaming on consoles from now on.

    If you suspect something try opening with draining and see what happens.

    I run miats, I still get player alerts while running around. Not sure what they are opening with to trigger it but I do get alerts.

    Yes, I do open with snipe. I’ll see if draining helps me in this case

    Snipe has a distinctive audio queue so they may just be listening for that. Or I suppose it’s possible someone has developed a private addon that translates that audio queue into a visual one.

    Personally I boost the effects audio so I listen for the bow twangs and arrow whistles. Of course if I’m in Cyrodiil on AD I’m constantly being triggered by my “teammate’s” bows. If recent BGs are any indication it’s probably the same there a lot of the time. And if you have a high pings, well...

    No connection or ping issues here. It happens in situations where there is literally nothing going on which the audio would be more probounced, as well as when other spells and effects are going off which would make it more difficult to single out a snipe audio. I duno.... could be something, could be nothing. Just figured i’d ask

    Remember, Snipe WILL have an audible queue if fired from any state other than stealth (crouch).

    So if you are firing it from cloak the audible queue will be there. Also, if you have any abilities you have combo'd it with land first, that will cause it to be heard as well.

    Couple that with the way some build just proactively roll for what most perceive as no reason, landing snipe can be often be challenging.

    Also, snipe has the single most pronounced audible queue. Most medium players at this stage in the game are programmed to pick it out of 1000 abilities. Hell, I quite often find myself rolling, only to realize it was a friendly snipe that I heard lol.

    I do understand this, though “stealth” includes cloaking and crouch. Sneak is what i believe you meant to say. I’m not confused as to how any of the mechanics work so breaking it down (while i appreciate it) isn’t cleaning up any messy idea you might think i have. I’ll need to record it for you guys so you can see what i’m seeing. The frequency at which it happens and the circumstances in which they happen, leads me to believe its on the side of the fence that states there is more than just randomness and reflexes happening.

    I am happy for all the replies though. We also can’t ignore the two posts that say the combat notifications still work. I may just have to download the addon myself to see if it does give it away

    On the contrary the part that is still working is in the API, and in fact Miat and I have no idea how or why it's still broadcasting. I say by chance he says by miracle it is a mystery, but whatever is causing it is still apart of the API therefore it's not exploiting or cheating. If a dev doesnt now what is in their own API they are not qualified to be devs its that simple. They can remove it at anytime they want but choose not too, and that's not my fault:)

    I am pretty sure it only works for light/heavy attacks and if you stand in aoe. It does nothing for snipes and dizzies, which was the whole purpose of it. Hell, it no longer shows incoming frags either

    I still use Miat's PvP Alerts addon (probably not the latest version) since it has some nice features besides the disabled notification part.

    I'm still getting a notification now an then when someone gap closes on me or when I get marked. It's nothing really useful, maybe besides that I can see the name of the player who marked me.
