Maintenance for the week of October 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – October 6
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – October 7, 6:00AM EDT (10:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EDT (20:00 UTC)

Would you support a splitting of the megaservers (assuming it would fix performance issues)?

Just curious what everyone thinks if for example pc na were split into pc na E and pc na W. You could think of it like this.

Or PC NA PvE/PC NA PvP

PvP literally needs its own servers imo because all the calculations and etc. but I think the root issue is coding being a rats nest

I don't know if it would solve much, unless you could somehow relocate PC-NA/West's server to the west coast. I'd love that, TBH, and it would serve APAC peeps much better too.

It should be technically possible to have a single "megaserver" that still has transparent regional sharding for instanced zones. I'd rather see a merged single megaserver with regional PvP campaigns and regionaly instanced dungeons, homes, trials etc. Dungeon instances could be created wherever the group has the lowest ping. For preformed groups in Australia they would be instanced to servers there, for a group with people in Europe, USA and Oceania it would be instanced in the USA. PvP campaigns could be expanded to be "Vivec NA", "Vivec EU", "Vivec SEA" depending on player population. For example If you have lots of friends in EU you could join that campaign, or join the one that is closest to you. The only servers that would have to be centralized would be account broker servers that handle login and the hand off to the regional instances. The technical challenges would be non-trivial but not insurmountable. In the end the cost of developing something like this probably isn't worth it for most games.
    I've hidden your signature.

I think I could support a seperate PVE/PVP megaserver, but not one that splits geographical areas like Megserver East, West, etc. The main reason is that people would have to choose a region, and once you did so, you would never see any friends or guildies that played on the other server.

I agree, I like the PvP/PvE much more than geographical. I wonder how effective it could be.

And while of course the idea of a global megaserver with sharding sounds great, I'm very frightened of potential issues having known the game we play and its makers.

Server populations would be too low especially in PvP. Just get better servers and fix the game

I just get the feeling no matter how often or for how long we say this, it is and will always remain a pipe dream.

The only way I see this working is if they divided them really small cells, like they do for housing.

    Small 12 man Cyrodiil battles...
