Would you kick?

Okay so I was doing today's pledges. I got a group from my guild for vVoM but for some strange reason they left before doing vBC1 but I thought "what the hell its the easiest dungeon I can PUG this no problem"... I was wrong... kind of.

I am on my max cp stamden (still leveling some skill lines including undaunted) so my dps is pretty good even without perfect play. I pick up the dungeon quest and we start the dungeon.

I take a laser to the face from the first boss and embarrassingly die but we kill it easy enough. To my surprise a "vote to kick" option pops up, worried for a sec its me (for dying) but its for the other dps.... thats odd. I check their cp, 250 easy no problem for vBC1 they haven't accidentally blundered in here. I say no to the vote kick... vote kick comes up again.. nope of course not stop that.... again it pops up.

We face shadowrend, the other dps dies... then I die to the trash before the boss spawns... the tank and healer try to take on the boss alone.. while telling me to yes the vote kick that the other dps was a baddie that leashes trash, dies and complains plus he has terrible dps. I try to explain this is the easiest dungeon and we'll just be fine. eventually the healer gets board of waiting for the tank to kill the boss and rezzes me so I rezz the other dps and we kill the boss.

The group chat is aflame by this point, and they just keep voting to kick. We get to the next boss the other dps starts it, dies, (and unfortunately my bear continues it) but the three of us kill it.

I get whispers:
"He is a WOW player and he needs to learn respect not to run in leash trash and die and complain, WOW is a hive of scum"
"I have never played WOW, I just want people to be able to play the game without getting kicked"
"Not you him, he has bad dps and bad habits by not kicking him you are rewarding his behaviour you have to kick him"

"Hey, guys hurry up I want to get this done" pipes up the other dps.
and so I start to try to explain to this dps what the problem is
"Okay so they want you to stop hurrying up that's their problem, let the tank lead"
"Hurry up then"
"The tank needs to control the monsters so they don't kill you and they need to be the one to go first"
"Okay, cool, hurry up"
"Ask nicely"
"huh?"
"Ask nicely"

*The tank and healer leave* I get a whisper: "I am not going to waste time with WOW kids"

"Have you ever played WOW"
"what! no never?"
"well they kept complaining that you were an inconsiderate wow player I though maybe your name or something was from there because I don't know how else they could of thought that"
Then I went back to trying to explain what the problem was whille we waited for the new queue to pop.

Soon enough it does and we easily enough finish the dungeon (on hard mode) a few more deaths (both me and him) but we got rezzed.

Then everyone left the group before I could finish the quest and I tilt quit the game to write this.

i would have voted to kick or left if vote failed wayyyyyyy before it got to that point. probably during shadowrend struggle. just me though

Not Kick

everyone has to learn , and by kicking someone they just gonna hate the game and no learn !

so teach a bit about , applying dots and pressing je left mouse button in between or as much as they can. and most people do decent dps and get much more joy out of the game!

do this so the next person doesnt have to! and within notime most people you encounter can pull their weight in the group !

You should never explain mechanics or anything to people, otherwise they might learn stuff, and become a better player. I would kick them, then leave, then go punch a puppy in the face!

Seriously not cool people leave before quest finishes though. I always stick around and ask 2 questions... anyone need gear/quest. Especially if I see someone talking to the NPC, I'll stay, just have the good grace once it's done to run around a bit so I know you're finished. It's only a minute out of my day, and I'm pretty sure I have a spare minute until I go back to not working on the cure for brain cancer.

From what you describe, the other DPS didn't mean any ill. At CP250, he may be just inexperienced (yes, plenty of people play casually and raise to high CP by questing a lot and whatnot). I know it's a pledge, but group was impatient about things they shouldn't be impatient about. Low damage? Well give him advice on how to do more (and really, in vVoM, there are no DPS checks as far as I know). Rushes forward? Maybe doesn't understand proper interaction of roles in ESO, so explain things to them. I often found myself helping other folks from finder after the clear (sometimes for longer than clear itself took), and I don't see it as waste of time.

Not Kick

Keep in mind I am not judging people that would kick.

It is just so much easier if your tank and healer are happy mostly because it's really easy to replace a dps and much harder to replace tank and healer and having people arguing in your group is never fun.

It was really hard for me not to just go along with it and quickly replace the dps and get on with it... but I just couldn't do that to someone.

I'd vote No because I think that teaching is the better strategy, but I don't get why he got ahead of everyone and died repeatedly: after the first death he should have been more cautious, I'd say.
Maybe he was a bit to eager to do his part, albeit with no clear idea about what his part was

Sadly, too many people think that because THEY know what they're doing, everyone else does too. The guy may have just started doing dungeons, and think they're like delves, just running ahead and thinking "wow, this is hard, how do these guys do it so easy". If no one explains anything....

Plus people have short memories, and forget that everyone does content for the first time at some point.

I learn it the hard way but the best option is to leave.
Everyone has their own opinion and if their doesn't agree with you, it is best to just leave the group. Cause arguing in chat will only left to grief. Hard to get emotion through written text.

I never vote to kick no matter what situation.
But after a few tries and fails, and explaining what the issue was - I would absolutely leave if the problem persisted.

Sometimes a rocket up the A is exactly what people need to get their act together.
There's being helpful, and then there is coddling people - the latter doesnt realistically help anyone.

I probably would not have voted for a kick, simply because I usually don't care about group dynamics in a pug. As long as the dungeon is going to be completed, it's fine by me. The other people can talk, flame, explain, vote whatever they want.

I'd have hopped on my tank and brought the other dps along with me, no reason to put up with individuals like that (especially in vBC1)

I wouldn't have kicked. The attitude of "if we don't kick him, we're rewarding him for his bad behavior" baffles me. If he doesn't know his behavior is bad, he's not gonna know why he was kicked. I mean, y'all finished 3rd boss before anyone (going by the story) mentioned to let tank pull. If it happens at first boss, say then. If he continues, then I'd leave or let him stay dead, especially if y'all are killing things just fine otherwise.

Poor dude was probably real tired of getting bashed in group chat after this and just wanted to finish. I don't particularly blame him for being a bit short.

As a tank, I take the approach of "You aggro it, you can tank it until I get there."

Which is to say, I would have been laughing my head off every time the other DPS ran ahead and died, but at some point I would have typed something like "you can rush ahead if you want, but dont blame me when you die."

I mean, the only time I really felt like completing the dungeon was going to take a looot of time, and a kick may have been an instant solution, it was vet Banished Cells.

I didn't even know it was possible to wipe on vet Banished cells. I was playing a healer, my little brother tanked, and the DD were guildies. And, oh, by Mara's love. I slotted damaging spells, to double the total group dps, it took so much time. The kind of situation where rezzing a DD is a direct dps loss. (I actually durably offended one of them by not rezzing him).

I usually am very patient, I always teach the mechanics, and I usually don't care if people are inexperienced. I just carry through the dungeon, I solo some of them.
But when you're a tank or a healer, and that you have to rely on inexperienced people, that can quickly become very painful. This specific time was very unsettling.

It seems like theres some conversation and some context missing here, but based solely on what it written, I would have left or possibly kicked, but one way or the other our association was coming to an end.

I have all the patience in the world for someone who doesnt know the mechanics, doesnt have super l33t DPS, non meta, or otherwise normal people playing the game to have to fun.

Given that the OP was patient and explained the need to let the tank lead (according to what is written) I'm inclined to believe that this person wasnt interested cooperative play.
